Getting Rid of Acid Reflux Permanently - This Acid Reflux Drugs Fracture Bones

It is common for infants to spit up their food after a meal, but if they also vomit, cough, and choke frequently, struggle to eat, and fail to gain weight, then a well-meaning doctor may decide to prescribe a drug for acid reflux.

But a study just published in the journal Pediatrics shows that these drugs also put your child at risk of bone fractures early in their lives.

There are two common drugs for acid reflux: proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine H2-receptor antagonists (H2RAs), and they’re sometimes prescribed together.

The authors of the new study looked at 851,631 children born between 2001 and 2013 who were tracked for at least two years.

Kids with cholestasis (a bile disease), osteogenesis imperfecta (a brittle bone disease), and those who were maltreated were left out of the study.
11% of these kids were prescribed one or both of these drugs before their first birthday (which seems kind of ludicrous, but there you go…)
0.9 percent received PPIs, eight percent received H2RAs, and two percent received both.

Those youngsters who took an anti-acid drug before birthday number one also broke their first bone eight months earlier than those who received no such drugs.

The children who received PPIs were 21 percent more likely than their peers were to fracture a bone during childhood and those who received both drugs increased their childhood fracture risk by 31 percent.

H2RAs alone had no effect, but they clearly amplified the harm of the PPIs for the kids who took both drugs before their first birthday.

Those who took the medication the earliest and the longest had the greatest risk of early bone fractures. That’s some disturbing reading.

The researchers made sure that sex, preterm birth, obesity, and other such characteristics did not affect their findings.

Drugs should always be the last resort for your children (and maybe for yourself, too) so try lifestyle remedies before you reach for the acid suppressants. Here’s what to trial:

1. Feed them small meals more frequently rather than large meals infrequently. A full stomach puts pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter (the ring of muscles that keeps food down where it belongs).

2. Avoid feeding from bottles with large-sized nipples, as this may allow the milk to flow too fast.

3. Add some oats or other cereal to the milk or start the baby on solid food early (with your pediatrician’s permission, of course).

4. Make sure your baby does not sleep with its head downwards. A small elevation of the head might help, especially in the first two hours after a meal.

Luckily, most infants grow out of acid reflux at around one year of age when their lower esophageal sphincters become strong enough to keep food down and their digestive systems mature.

Getting Rid of Acid Reflux Permanently - How Over-the-Counter Acid Reflux Meds Break Your Bones and Cause Arthritis

Waking up with that horrible, sour taste in your mouth and your chest burning with acid reflux, your first impulse is probably to jump for the medicine cabinet.

And what’s the damage? After all, these pills are sold over the counter, nothing but simple calcium or other ingredients that cause no side effects. Right?

Think again, because new research has shown that the side effects of these “innocent” acid reflux pills can be lethal.

Acid reflux is a frustrating condition; and, if left untreated, can ultimately lead to several serious diseases such as esophageal cancer.

Americans spend tens of millions of dollars treating the symptoms with prescription medications called proton pump inhibitors, or PPIs, to quell the discomfort.

Most experts agree that for the vast majority of sufferers, diet is the key culprit. They go on to also agree that changing the way one eats, as well as how much during each meal, can go a long way to naturally end it without having to resort to medication.

However, many people figure that diet changes might be too hard and that a pill is easier- so what’s the harm?

As it turns out, PPI drugs, which work by shutting down some of the pumps in the stomach that produce acid needed for digestion, also interfere with a host of other systems in the body.

For one, doctors are noticing a dramatic uptick in bone fractures and osteoarthritis among regular users of PPI medicines.

The problem is that PPIs are known to interfere with more than acid production. They also interfere with the body’s ability to absorb protein and calcium, both of which are needed for healthy bones and joints.

This is of particular importance to people who are already at risk, such as those going through menopause or taking medicines that also interfere with calcium absorption like calcium channel blockers, used for high blood pressure.

It has also been seen that PPIs interfere with magnesium absorption, which can cause bleeding problems and increase a person’s risk of developing other bowel-related issues.

Further, PPIs have been shown to affect blood vessel health by narrowing the arteries, spiking blood pressure.

For the little amount of temporary relief, many natural health practitioners caution that it just isn’t worth the extra problems the side effects of these drugs bring to the party.

Their advice, instead, is to have an honest look at diet and lifestyle and see if making even just a few, simple changes can turn around the reflux naturally.

Not sure where to start with eliminating your acid reflux, and don’t want to head to the medicine cabinet every day?

Getting Rid of Acid Reflux Permanently - Acid Reflux – 7 Foods You Didn’t Know Cause It

If you frequently suffer acid reflux/heartburn, you probably know of many foods that trigger it.

Spicy foods are on the top of the list for many people. Tomato sauce and pizza late at night might be in there, too.

But there are some foods that most of us think are completely safe that sneakily cause acid reflux without being noticed.

The next time you get acid reflux, just check if you’ve had any of these foods that day. It’s not spicy food that’s always the culprit.

1. Fried foods: You might love your French Fries, but your stomach doesn’t. They are high in fat content and are the foods most often associated with heartburn and acid reflux.

2. Soda: This doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that soda is packed full of carbonated bubbles that expand inside the stomach and increase pressure inside the stomach walls inducing acid reflux. The worst kind of sodas are the ones that are caffeinated or acidic, which most of them are anyway. So, try to avoid them completely.

3. Chocolate: Chocolate is often seen as a calorie bomb or a tooth decay expert. Believe it or not, it’s also on this list of foods that can induce acid reflux. In fact, it packs a triple whammy – there are stimulants (caffeine and theobromine), cocoa, and fat and all these ingredients can cause reflux. If you still insist on having your dose of chocolate, at least go for the dark chocolate. It is a slightly better than milk chocolate.

4. Alcohol: Even though alcohol is not as acidic as soda, it can cause the muscle flap connecting the stomach and esophagus causing acid reflux. Minimize or avoid alcohol and don’t mix in orange juice or soda in it when you drink it at all.

5. Dairy products with high fat content: Use high fat dairy products like butter and cheese with caution. Too much of it can cause reflux, especially if you eat them regularly.

6. Fatty meat: Certain meats like lamb and pork are rich in fats and tend to remain in the stomach for a longer time as it gets digested causing acid reflux. You can choose lean meat over fatty meat and keep it to once a week to avoid chances of getting acid reflux.

7. Coffee and caffeinated drinks: you don’t have to worry too much if you’re happy with a cup of coffee a day. But if you drink coffee every couple of hours, you’re definitely inviting trouble. Herbal tea or green tea are good options in place of coffee. Try them out instead!

Lower Your Cholesterol Quickly and Easily - Do Eggs Raise Cholesterol Levels?

Eggs of one sort or another are a firm favorite that show up in a lot of people’s breakfasts, but how many times have you heard people tell you that eating eggs will raise your cholesterol?

Science hasn’t completely settled the debate yet, but a new contribution to the topic has just been published in JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association.

For this piece, researchers from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and Northwestern University looked back over large studies that recorded the diets, lifestyles, and cardiovascular diseases of 29,615 people. These people had an average age of 51.6 years and they were followed for an average of 17.5 Years.

When the researchers separated out daily cholesterol consumption, daily egg consumption, cardiovascular events, and deaths from the rest of the data, they found some interesting points:

The first 300 mg (milligrams) of cholesterol consumed per day has no measurable harmful effects on health.

Beyond the first 300 mg of daily cholesterol, every additional 300 mg increases our risk of a cardiovascular event like stroke or heart attack by 17 percent and our chance of death by 18 percent.

Beyond the first 300 mg of daily cholesterol, each half an egg increases our risk of a cardiovascular event by six percent and our risk of death by eight percent.

To unpick all of that, it doesn’t mean that you have to avoid eggs. In fact, it shows that eggs are fine in moderation, but how much is that exactly?

One egg, or one egg yolk to be more precise, contains 200 mg of cholesterol, which is about the same amount as you’ll find in a large steak.

This means that if you eat a large steak and an egg every day, together with the milk in your tea or coffee, you will be over the 300 mg safe limit.

But if you eat three eggs and three large steaks per week, and spread them out, your cholesterol intake will be below it.

Past research has actually shown that daily cholesterol intake doesn’t raise our cholesterol to harmful levels, which is why the American and British governments don’t recommend a daily cholesterol limit.

The reason why eggs (and meats for that matter) become unhealthy is probably because they have to be cooked to improve flavor and reduce the risk of Salmonella.

But when you heat cholesterol, its chemical composition changes in a process called oxidation. It is this oxidized cholesterol that clogs your arteries, not uncooked cholesterol.

So, don’t stop eating eggs just yet. They contain calcium, fiber, iron, potassium, zinc, selenium, B vitamins, vitamin A and other healthy nutrients, so if you keep your consumption under control, your favorite breakfast food can still be a heart-healthy addition to your day.

Lower Your Cholesterol Quickly and Easily - Which is Better, Red or White?

Anyone will tell you that if you are going to eat meat, then it’s better to choose white over red, because red meat is well-known for polluting your body with bad cholesterol.

The likes of chicken and turkey are much better for you, it’s common knowledge, right?

Well, maybe not.

The problem with common knowledge is that we don’t always question it. Received wisdom is not always so wise, so it’s a good thing there are scientists who like to test commonly held beliefs and see if they stack up.

Research scientists at the University of California at San Francisco and the Children’s Hospital Oakland wondered whether red meat was worse for your health than white meat and set about testing that hypothesis.

The fruits of their labors were recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

To test the common assumption, they found 113 healthy volunteers aged from 21 to 65 who had a body-mass index between 20 and 35 kg/m2 (which puts some in the normal range, some at overweight and some at obese).

They split them into two groups: a high saturated fat group and a low saturated fat group.

Within each of these groups, the volunteers first consumed their proteins in the form of red meat (but none of it processed, like bacon or sausage) for four weeks, and then white meat (but no fish) for four weeks. For the final four weeks they ate no meats, but had vegetables and dairy instead.

The study doesn’t mention whether the cuts included skins, but we’re assuming they did.

Before, during, and after the study, the scientists measured their subject’s total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol (usually called bad cholesterol) to see which diet was the worst.

It should come as no surprise that the high saturated fat dieters had a higher LDL cholesterol level than the low saturated fat dieters.

And the ones who got their proteins from plants and a bit of dairy had lower LDL levels than those who ate meat.

Now, you might have been expecting a higher LDL cholesterol score for the red meat eaters and a lower score for the poultry fans, but that didn’t happen.

Cholesterol-wise, there was nothing to choose between them.

This means that if you want to lower your bad cholesterol, you could try getting your proteins from vegetables and dairy instead of meat. If you really want to eat meat, then it doesn’t seem to matter whether it came from something winged or something hoofed. One’s no worse for than the other, so long as it’s ‘real’ meat and hasn’t been processed.

If you’ve read our cholesterol program, these findings should not surprise you too much. Both red and white meat (especially the skins) contain cholesterol, and they both need to be cooked before consumption. That means the cholesterol in both will undergo some oxidation during the heating process.

This explains why both meat protein groups had higher LDL cholesterol than the vegetable protein group. It also explains why the high saturated fat group had more LDL cholesterol than the low saturated fat group had, since saturated fat is consumed almost exclusively in the form of meat that needs to be cooked.

Still, when delving deep into the study, the conclusion is not seriously alarming. In previous studies, small LDL cholesterol particles have been found to be far more harmful than large LDL particles were. Large LDL particles pose a coronary heart disease risk, but it’s smaller than the risk you get with small LDL particles.

In this study, the cholesterol differences between the high and low saturated fat groups and between the meat and vegetable groups were mostly in large LDL particles.

This suggests that meat consumption increases a type of cholesterol that is harmful, but not the most harmful.

Lower Your Cholesterol Quickly and Easily - The Simplest Way to Avoid Millions of Deaths

If you believed everything you read in the news, then you might tend to worry that war, terrorism, natural disasters, murder or road traffic accidents were all trying their best to kill you.

Every day the headlines are full of dire warnings, but if newsmakers were really serious about telling you what to avoid, then the headlines would be totally different.

They’d focus on something else completely, because more people die of this one thing than all of that other stuff.

More people are dying of broken hearts, because cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the world today.

But it needn’t be this way. War might be difficult to avoid sometimes but for most people, cardiovascular disease certainly isn’t.

Tufts University scientists presented a new study at the American Society for Nutrition annual meeting in Baltimore claiming that the simplest way to cut millions of these deaths worldwide is to just eat more fruit and vegetables. Wait, what?

How did they come to this conclusion?

They looked at a lot of information for the year 2010 about diets and deaths in 13 countries, all in all representing 82 percent of the world’s population.

They found that inadequate fruit consumption caused 521,395 coronary heart disease deaths, which means deaths caused by arteries that got clogged up with fat, cholesterol, or blood clots. It also caused 1,255,978 deaths by stroke.

Low vegetable consumption (including legumes) resulted in 809,425 coronary heart disease deaths and 210,849 stroke deaths.

It’s no surprise that given their large populations and relative rates of poverty, China and India had the most cardiovascular deaths related to low fruit and vegetable intakes at 541,564 and 199,364 yearly deaths respectively.

Putting this together, worldwide, inadequate intake of fruit lead to almost 1.8 million annual cardiovascular deaths while low vegetable intake was responsible for around 1 million annual deaths.

A different research team did the same thing for the year 2015 with 195 countries. They used similar diet surveys, cause-of-death records, and studies on the relationship between fruit and vegetable intake and cardiovascular disease.

They calculated the number of healthy years that were lost to heart disease-related disability or death related to inadequate fruit and vegetable intake.

It transpired that low fruit consumption was the cause of a staggering 57.3 million lost years while low vegetable consumption accounted for 44.6 million lost years.

Despite the overall unhealthiness of the typical Western diet in the United States and Europe, both these studies showed that people there still ate more fruit and vegetables than those in the poorest countries and suffered from fewer heart disease-related deaths because of low fruit and vegetable consumption.

The simple conclusion you get from these studies is that if you eat more of what your grandma recommends then you live longer. The researchers put the level of adequate fruit intake at 300 grams per day (about two small apples) and adequate vegetable intake at 400 grams daily (about three cups of raw carrots).

It’s a lot cheaper and simpler than getting drugs and surgery later, and it might even make you feel better every day too!

This is the risk factor for heart disease and early death that is the easiest and cheapest to avoid, so just eat more fruit and vegetables if you’d like a long life.

What is the Best Way to Cure Your Vertigo Right Away?

Click HERE to Discover How You Can Heal Your Vertigo and Dizziness Permanently in Just 15 Minutes

Cure Your Vertigo Right Away - Five reasons why you feel dizzy and lightheaded

Everyone feels a bit dizzy or lightheaded every once in a while, but it’s usually something that passes quickly.

Maybe it’s just that you didn’t eat enough, drink enough or it’s too hot, so a little food, drink, and a moment in the shade and you’re back to normal in no time.

But sometimes that lightheaded feeling points to underlying problems that are far more unsettling.

Forewarned is forearmed as they say, and it pays to understand these five more dangerous causes of lightheadedness and dizziness.

Your experience of lightheadedness and dizziness can be anything from mild to severe. When you’re lightheaded it feels as if you might faint, and when you’re dizzy the room seems to spin.

Common causes include:

1. Dehydration: dehydration can lower your blood pressure, raise your body temperature and increase your breathing rate. The net result of this is that the blood vessels in your brain dilate, and there’s not enough blood to fill them up.

You might get feel lightheaded after intense exercise, because more of your blood gets sent to the muscles you’ve just worked and less of it goes to your brain. A lie down and a drink of water should help to get you back to normal quickly.

2. Low blood pressure: there are a whole host of things that can cause low blood pressure, and you’ll need to know which one applies to you before you can get rid of your dizziness.

Resting in bed for too long, pregnancy, dehydration, alcohol, diuretics, blood pressure medication, antipsychotic drugs, low heart rate, an underactive thyroid, and low blood sugar (among others) are all potential causes, so it’s best to talk to your doctor to get to the root of the problem.

3. Prescription Drugs: The US Food and Drug Administration is responsible for approving drugs. As a general principle it will only accept drugs if their benefits outweigh their side effects (and if they actually work!)

Dizziness is one of the non-life-threatening side effects that they think most people can live with, so you’ll see it listed among the effects of many commonly sold drugs.

A 2013 study published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics, pointed to anti-convulsants, blood pressure medication, antihistamines, antibiotics, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anti-inflammatories as causes.

If you have to take any of these drugs then you’re probably going to experience dizziness, so be extra vigilant to avoid injury, or look for better alternatives.

4. Low blood sugar: your body turns glucose into glycogen, which is the fuel that your brain runs on. If that fuel gets too low then your brain lets you know about it, which is why you can suddenly feel super hungry and almost painfully desperate for food.

This lack of blood sugar can also be the reason behind mood swings, low energy, shaking, sweating, confusion and blurred vision. Anytime you feel like this, reach for some fruit, a bowl of oats, or some wholegrain bread to give your mind and body the glucose they crave.

5. Stroke: American Family Physician says that this one is easy for a doctor to diagnose when you are at the hospital, because it’s also accompanied by other neurological symptoms.

The American Stroke Association advises you to look for facial drooping on one side by checking that your smile is even, and to check for arm weakness by raising both. If either of them drifts downwards then it could be a sign of stroke. Slurred speech is a giveaway, and you can check this by speaking out loud either from memory or by reading some tricky sentences.

Cure Your Vertigo Right Away - A New Way to Diagnose Vertigo at Home

30 percent of people suffer from vertigo at some point in their lives but getting it diagnosed can be a real hassle.

The problem is that it’s such a specialized field, so when you arrive at the ER they might not have a practitioner and the diagnostic instruments available to help you.

But they really should, because stroke is one of the potential causes of vertigo, and if stroke is the underlying problem then a quick diagnosis can be crucial to minimizing its impact.

Well, help may finally be at hand, because researchers from the University of Sydney have just designed video goggles that can help with the diagnosis of vertigo. Details of their tests appear in a new article in the journal Neurology.

They recruited 113 people who had already had the cause of their vertigo diagnosed using traditional in-clinic diagnostic procedures. They were then taught how to use the goggles to record their eye movements during vertigo episodes.

The scientists hoped to use the recordings to diagnose the cause of vertigo.

43 of the volunteers suffered from Meniere’s disease, an inner ear disorder that causes dizziness, tinnitus, a feeling of fullness, pain, and sometimes hearing loss.

The goggles did help the researchers to diagnose this disease accurately, which is great news because this normally requires things like scans that can only be done in a clinical setting.

40 of the 43 subjects with Meniere’s disease showed specific eye movements that helped them make the right diagnosis in up to 95 percent of cases, and people without it could be correctly ruled out in 95 percent of cases.

67 of the subjects suffered from vestibular migraine, a condition that causes vertigo but doesn’t always include headaches. Their eye movements varied more than the people with Meniere’s disease, so it was harder to diagnose using the goggles. Still, some movements were clearly related to vestibular migraine, so diagnosis was possible.

Seven of the subjects suffered from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), a condition where your head movements trigger your vertigo attacks.

Scientists identified one eye movement that told them with 100 percent accuracy which people had BPPV and with 77 percent accuracy which ones did not.

This is great news, because it could mean that even when neurologists and otolaryngologists aren’t available in an emergency room, video footage from the goggles could be sent to remote specialists so they can make a diagnosis.

Another great thing about these goggles is they’re portable. Vertigo sufferers don’t often have attacks in clinics. They’re more likely to have them when they’re just going about their day, so having the goggles means they can record their attacks when they do occur.

Cure Your Vertigo Right Away - Effective Home Remedies for Vertigo

The most common cause of vertigo is a type called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (or BPPv).

That’s quite an intimidating sounding name, but a new study in the journal Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management says that it’s actually quite easy to treat.

The authors found out how easy by looking back over the cases of 359 patients who had sought treatment at the dizziness clinic of Fujian Provincial Hospital in Fuzhou, China between 2011 and 2017.

You may not be aware of this, but your inner ear has semi-circular canals in it. Unfortunately, their shape means that calcium crystals can accidentally fall into them, and when they touch the nerve hairs that line them the balance information they send to your brain gets scrambled, causing the vertigo sensations.

It usually comes on when you move your head, especially when you roll over in bed during the night.

The usual treatment for this condition is also head movements, but ones designed to guide the crystals out of the semicircular canals.

The Chinese scientists used two movements, one called the Epley maneuver and another called the (wonderfully named!) barbecue roll to dislodge these crystals.

It sounds like one of those tricky plastic toys where you guide a tiny ball through a maze by tilting it, but in this case with a human! Still, tricky or not, both methods worked well.

There’s a canal at the back of the inner ear where crystals most often get stuck. Doctors call it the posterior semicircular canal. 95.8 percent of these cases were completely cleared up a month after the treatment.

The horizontal semicircular canal is the second most common crystal trap. One month after treatment 100 percent of these cases were fixed.
It was more difficult to treat cases where the crystals were trapped in more than one canal. In fact, these cases were the hardest to treat of all.

The head had to be moved in different directions to dislodge them from each canal, but hard though this was, an impressive 75 percent of cases were resolved a month after treatment.

So, the good news is that the Epley maneuver and the barbecue roll are both really great at clearing up the most common type of vertigo and the even better news is that you can do them both at home.

Of course, you won’t know which ear canals the crystals are trapped in, so you can’t know which movements will work for you. This means that your success rate might be lower than you’d get in a clinical setting, but that shouldn’t put you off trying.

Here’s how to do the barbecue roll if the crystals are trapped in a canal in your right ear:

·         Lie on your right side for 30 seconds.
·         Roll onto your back and stay there for 30 seconds.
·         Roll onto your left side and stay there for 30 seconds.
·         Drop your chin slightly and roll over onto your stomach while propping yourself up on your elbows. Stay in that position for 30 seconds.
·         Roll back onto your right side and stay there for 30 seconds with your chin still down.
·         Sit up slowly and keep your chin down for 15 minutes.

It literally is that simple, but if it doesn’t work for you, then try starting on your left side and reversing the steps or try the Epley maneuver instead. A quick search online will turn up the instructions for that one.

The only downside to treatment is that these movements will trigger your vertigo and make it difficult for you to move correctly, so it might help to have a friend or a relative on hand to support you through the steps.

Control Your High Blood Pressure Naturally - Cheap Supplement Ditches 8 Points off Blood Pressure and Clears 5 Pounds of Fat

One of the reasons why Type-2 diabetes is so bad is because of the company it keeps.

High blood pressure goes hand-in-hand with it, so if your doctor discovers that you have Type-2 diabetes you can expect to get an ear-full about controlling your blood pressure too.

That’s always going to require a lifestyle change, but you’ll be pleased to know that there is a supplement which can help because it really punches above its weight in this regard as well.

Research by Loyola University in Chicago has shone light for the first time on the benefits of this super-cheap supplement for Type-2 diabetes sufferers.

In their study, it didn’t just lower participant’s blood pressure, it also helped them shed pounds of body fat, and they didn’t even have to reach for the running shoes.

The researchers selected people with low levels of vitamin D and studied their response to supplements over the course of 6 months.

The results were very welcome. They experienced better moods and relief from depressive symptoms, along with systolic blood pressure that was nearly 8 points better on average.

The extra Vitamin D also helped them to shed about 3 to 5 pounds, despite no other changes to their diets or activity levels.

Supplement levels were high, 7,000 IUs every day for six months.

Doctors say that taking large amounts of fat-soluble vitamins like this can be hard work for the liver, but there’s a growing chorus of vitamin D apologists who say that the current recommendations by the USRDA for vitamin D are too low (600-800 IUs a day right now).

They also point out that in direct sunlight during summer your body can produce up to 25,000 IU of vitamin D in slightly less time than it takes for your skin to start burning! That’s a lot of vitamin D that doesn’t seem to be harming the livers of people in sunny countries.

If you live in the West and you eat a typical Western diet, then there is a good chance that you will be deficient in many common nutrients, but before you start popping fistfuls of these sunshine pills, it’s probably best to have your vitamin D levels tested first.

Control Your High Blood Pressure Naturally - The Thorn That Sticks it to High Blood Pressure

Thorns are usually associated with hurting rather than healing, but a near neighbour to the common Tea Rose looks set to have its hidden health properties gain wider attention.

It’s a potent herbal remedy that you might have growing in your own garden, and it’s great at lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.

It’s almost embarrassing that science is only just catching up with what herbalists have known for such a long time: the hawthorn bush is like a hospital growing in your back yard. Its leaves, berries, and bark have been used to help a whole host of health conditions for generations.

Researchers at the University of Maryland Medical Center have recently taken notice and decided to explore these claims.

The hawthorn is a shrub that likes the sun, and it is found right across the world.

Just like the rose it has blooms, but it also has berries that show up after the blooms drop off at the start of June.

Research has shown that the berries are very potent antioxidants which is why they often find their way into health supplements.

It’s also been confirmed that the hawthorn contains vasodilators, substances which widen blood vessels. We know that high blood pressure hardens arteries and high cholesterol deposits plaque that narrows them, so vasodilators are great at improving blood flow for people with these problems.

Hawthorn extracts were also found to naturally clean up the dangerous LDL cholesterol that can stick to arterial walls, too, so all in all it packs a potent punch for health.

Control Your High Blood Pressure Naturally - Your Phone Is Like a TV Remote for High Blood Pressure

When we say “Your phone is like a TV remote for high blood pressure
we don’t mean there’s an app for that.

And we don’t mean you can point your phone at people and make their blood pressure soar either, but we do mean it does do something nearly as bad to you.

Italian researchers at Guglielmo da Saliceto hospital in Piacenza already knew that cell phone ownership comes with a few potential health warnings, but their recent study confirmed something new.

In the study, they sat the subjects in a comfortable doctor’s office, so they were nice and relaxed and took blood pressure readings from them with an automatic device. In all, they tested 49 women whose average age was 53. All of them suffered from high blood pressure and were taking blood pressure lowering medications.

Each subject had their blood pressure measured a few times, and while this was happening, one of the researchers would anonymously call their phone a few times. Every call caused a spike in the subject’s systolic blood pressure, and it stayed elevated for a while after. Diastolic blood pressure was not affected.

Some people think that the radio frequencies generated by cell phones can cause this kind of thing, but the researchers believe it has got more to do with just the noise. When a phone goes off, we feel the urgent need to answer it. It interrupts our train of thought and demands our attention, almost like a crying child.

The researchers noticed that it was the older participants who showed the biggest spikes in blood pressure, and these were the ones who usually received fewer than 30 notifications day.

Maybe this is because younger people rely on their phones so much. So, they felt more relaxed about receiving notifications than the older people in the study.

There are a couple of takeaways from this study. The first one is to put your phone on silent when you go for a blood pressure test with your doctor, as it may skew the results. The second is to think about living without your phone from time to time, switching it off, particularly if it’s something that causes you anxiety.

We’ve come to rely on phones in the last few years, but we’re only just beginning to understand the health implications of that.
