What is the Best Way to Get Your Cholesterol Within Healthy Levels?

How to Get Your Cholesterol Within Healthy Levels Without Taking Such Harmful Cholesterol Drugs? These drugs are the most commonly prescribed drugs for high cholesterol. They’re so common that researchers think more than a quarter of middle-aged Americans are taking them. But a new study by scientists at Ohio State University in Columbus now suggests that these drugs may be largely responsible for the current diabetes epidemic.

Easiest Way to Cure High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and High Cholesterol

An article has just appeared in the latest edition of the journal Psychology & Health that suggests the easiest way to eliminate most modern diseases.

It’s especially effective for high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and other related diseases.

And it literally takes no effort and is as natural as can be.
Because the relationship between vacation and health is fairly poorly studied, the scientists decided to find out whether time off can reduce our risk of metabolic syndrome (the precursor to diabetes) and reduce associated symptoms.

The only previous study they could find on the subject found that people who took regular vacations were less likely to die of cardiovascular causes or prematurely of any cause.

The Syracuse University academics used 63 workers who were eligible for paid vacations. They invited them into the laboratory where they conducted a range of physiological measures to assess their metabolic status.

Together with the physiological tests, they also asked them about their vacation behavior in the last 12 months.

These participants had taken five vacations during the past 12 months, using two weeks of their paid vacation days.

The more vacations they took, the fewer harmful metabolic symptoms they showed. Each additional vacation reduced their risk for the metabolic syndrome by 25 percent.

We should probably define what metabolic syndrome is. It’s said to be present if you have three of these four symptoms: large waist circumference, high blood pressure, high triglycerides (fats in the blood), and high fasting blood sugar levels.

These are also major risks for cardiovascular disease and events like heart attacks and strokes.

It isn’t known exactly why vacations have such a positive effect, but the results make it clear that they really do.

Any change to compulsory vacation time will probably be a long time coming, so until it does, you had better take charge of your health!

Cholesterol Drugs Can Triple Your Risk of This Serious Disease

How to Get Your Cholesterol Within Healthy Levels Without Taking Such Harmful Cholesterol Drugs?

These drugs are the most commonly prescribed drugs for high cholesterol. They’re so common that researchers think more than a quarter of middle-aged Americans are taking them.

But a new study by scientists at Ohio State University in Columbus now suggests that these drugs may be largely responsible for the current diabetes epidemic.

The researchers checked the health records of 4,683 adults who had private health insurance. They were free of diabetes when the study began in 2011, but they had already received warnings about their risk of cardiovascular disease. Researchers followed them until 2014 to see which of them would develop diabetes.

Their average age was 46 years and 16 percent of them had been prescribed statins during the study period.

It turned out that statin-takers were 2.2 times more likely to develop diabetes than non-statin-takers.

Those who had taken statins for more than two years had a 3.3 times greater chance of developing diabetes compared with those who never took statins.

Even statin-takers who never developed diabetes were in trouble, with a 6.5 percent higher chance of high blood sugar than those who had never taken statins. This suggests that if this study had continued for longer, they may eventually have been at serious risk of diabetes too.

Pause and think about this for a moment. This study already shows that two years of statin-taking can triple your risk of diabetes, but because it was stopped at three years, and since even nondiabetic statin-takers had high blood sugar, even this number is probably too low.

It’s clear that the longer the participants took statins for, the greater their risk of developing diabetes, so the researchers knew that statins were causing it.

They ruled out interference from other factors like ethnicity, sex, age, and body mass index, so it was clear that the new diabetes cases were caused by the statins, and not by any of these other factors.

They couldn’t rule out alcohol use and smoking, so that’s worth bearing in mind, but the link does appear to be strong despite this.

This study again shows why it is far better to adopt natural methods to combat cholesterol. There is, after all, no point in fighting heart disease if that means it causes diabetes. You’re just swapping one deadly illness for another.

A regular exercise program, enough sleep, and a healthy diet of foods that prevent cholesterol will make you feel good and they won’t give you diabetes.

Get Your Cholesterol Within Healthy Levels and Cut Your Heart Attack Risk By 50%

If you want to cut your heart attack risk by doing something that doesn’t involve dieting, exercise, or giving up bad habits, then researchers at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine have got some good news for you.

They’ve found a free and easy way to get a healthier heart, because participants in their study reduced their risk of cardiovascular disease by an average of 30%, and some (the least healthy) even managed 50%. All thanks to doing this one thing every day.

This might sound a bit too convenient, but having a cheerful, upbeat approach to life every single day can make a huge difference to how healthy you are, and whether you get heart disease.

The scientists at Johns Hopkins are pretty sure about this because they looked at 1,500 healthy individuals. Everyone who said that they were happy, positive, cheerful and energetic had a 30% lower risk of experiencing a heart attack, so there has to be something in it.

The study didn’t look at why sad or angry people are more likely to develop high blood pressure and end up with heart disease, but they probably didn’t need to. Plenty of previous studies have already shown that chronic stress is a worldwide problem that shortens life spans, and sadness and anger are never far away when you’re chronically stressed.

Now, no one is suggesting that all those happy people are just smiling their way out of serious problems, but their attitude towards the slings and arrows that life throws at them has a great bearing on how well they cope. A positive attitude can get people through the tough times and make the good times even better!

Anxiety is not good for hypertension, which is not good for heart health, so it might be time to look at how you deal with everyday situations, and see whether you can’t put a spring in your step and a smile on your face to help get you through them better.

What is the Best Way to Reduce the Risk of Erectile Dysfunction?

Reduce the Risk of Erectile Dysfunction - This Natural Home-Based ED Treatment is Effective. Scientists at Australia’s James Cook University have just published a study in the journal Physiotherapy that shows how ED can be treated naturally, cheaply, and (perhaps more importantly) privately in the comfort of your own home using nothing more than a simple technique.

Reduce the Risk of Erectile Dysfunction - ED is Becoming an Epidemic in this Unlikely Population Group

A new study in the journal BJU International looks at how widespread ED is worldwide. Researchers were also interested in the associations between ED and cardiovascular disease and death.

But the most interesting thing they found relates to men who are not yet as badly affected by cardiovascular disease.

Most studies which explore how common Erectile Dysfunction is vary so wildly that they are almost useless. If you believe 41 previous studies, then you would think that Erectile Dysfunction occurs in anything from three to 76.5 percent of the population.

This might be because different studies use different definitions of ED, different screening tools to diagnose it (because they study different age groups) and because in some cultures people are less likely to admit that they have a problem.

Even the maximum estimates derived from the available published studies (which the researchers take to be more accurate than the minimum estimates) vary wildly.

For instance, Erectile Dysfunction estimates for North America are between 20.7 and 57.8 percent of the (male!) population. In South America it is anything from 14 to 55.2 percent, in Europe it’s between 10 and 76.5 percent, in Oceania between 40.3 and 60.69 percent, in Asia between eight and 71.2 percent, and in Africa between 24 and 58.9 percent.

That probably means that at least half the men in the world have some level of ED.

Unsurprisingly, they found that the primary causal factors behind ED are older age, obesity, diabetes and milder metabolic disorders, depression, high alcohol use, and smoking.

They found that men with Erectile Dysfunction were more likely to suffer from almost all imaginable cardiovascular conditions, including high blood pressure, heart attacks, clogged arteries, stroke, angina, and peripheral vascular disease.

Men with ED were 26 percent more likely to die early of any cause, 43 percent more likely to die of cardiovascular disease, and were 1.68 times more likely to have dementia when compared with the non-ED population.

The shocking part of this survey is that men below the age of 40 suffered from Erectile Dysfunction at lower rates, but not substantially lower rates, than older men did. Up to 50 percent of young adults, compared with around 75 percent of seniors, struggled with ED (looking at the maximum estimates).

Considering that cardiovascular diseases are problems that creep up on us in our 40’s, this is alarming. The researchers speculated that it might be due to increasing levels of performance anxiety, depression, obesity, and lack of exercise among young men.

As with many health problems, this points to maintaining good health as the foundation for…more good health!

Since it’s tied to potentially deadly diseases like cardiovascular diseases, the authors of the survey recommended that doctors screen for ED in patients who are especially at risk, mainly because they might not offer this information themselves.

Reduce the Risk of Erectile Dysfunction - This Natural Home-Based ED Treatment is Effective

Scientists at Australia’s James Cook University have just published a study in the journal Physiotherapy that shows how ED can be treated naturally, cheaply, and (perhaps more importantly) privately in the comfort of your own home using nothing more than a simple technique.

Men often suffer from ED and premature ejaculation (PE) because their pelvic floor muscles are weak. But just like with any other muscles it is possible to strengthen them using exercises. It’s got to be worth a try when the doctor’s usual answer is a pill.

To find out if exercises were effective, they combed medical study databases and found 10 decent-quality studies on the effectiveness of pelvic floor exercises as a treatment for ED and PE.

The studies had more than 650 subjects between them and there was a lot of difference in how much training they did, how much contact they had with therapists, on the length of the treatments, and on other treatments the men were receiving at the same time.

This makes it hard to be sure about how well pelvic floor exercises work, but they certainly seemed to be effective for both ED and PE.

As many as 47 percent of ED cases and 83 percent of PE cases were resolved by the pelvic floor exercises.

The main reason why these exercises were not more effective for ED was that most ED cases aren’t just caused by weak pelvic floor muscles. There are also cardiovascular problems. The pelvic floor exercises do work, but they would be more effective if they were combined with regular physical exercise to promote the healthy blood vessels needed for strong erections.

You can find your pelvic floor muscles quite easily. When you next visit the bathroom just stop your flow of urine midstream, hold it, then let it run again. The muscles you use to do that are the ones that you want.

Drawing your testicles upwards also uses your pelvic floor muscles.
You only use them infrequently, so if you clench these muscles a lot during the day, they will get stronger.

These are the same muscles that therapists help you to strengthen after urinary surgery or if you become incontinent. Incontinence is usually caused by weak pelvic floor muscles too, or from instances where they contract and release at inappropriate times or with the wrong intensity.

ED and PE usually happen because you’ve lost control of these muscles and they have grown weak. As with other muscles, they will benefit from regular exercise, regaining their strength and reliability.

Throughout the years, I’ve helped hundreds of men suffering erectile dysfunction. One of the things I’ve used are PC muscle exercises. But they have to be done right. As the study reveals, the generally used PC exercises only help a few. I’ve developed a much more powerful PC muscle exercises to reduce the risk of erectile dysfunction. And when combined with other types of movements (explained here) they help almost everyone…

Reduce the Risk of Erectile Dysfunction - New Implant for Men Suffering ED Discovered

Medical specialists estimate that about 40 percent of men over the age of 40 suffer from some level of ED. it is difficult to know whether the problem is getting worse, or whether men are simply becoming more willing to report it.

Regardless, given the extreme consequences of ED, these large numbers of men shouldn’t be expected to be left to their own devices or subjected to the most common existing remedies. Traditional treatment can be life-threatening.

Traditional treatments range from Viagra and other drugs, which do not work for everyone (a 30% failure rate), become expensive when taken constantly over years or decades, and have serious side effects in most cases.

Existing penal implants typically consist of a reservoir of water, two cylinders, and a pump device.

The water reservoir is implanted in your groin, the cylinders in your penis, and the pump between your testicles.

When you press on the pump, it transfers liquid from the reservoir to the cylinders, allowing your penis to inflate. Pressing on the deflation valve of the pump returns the fluids to the reservoir.

These implants sometimes go wrong, either because of incompetent surgeons, or simply because the technology is too elaborate with multiple implants in multiple locations multiplying the risk of damage.

Brian Le from the Department of Urology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and colleagues think they may have developed a penal implant technology that works better because it does not consist of multiple parts.
It is an exoskeleton made from Nitinol, and extremely elastic alloy.

This alloy has what is called shape memory, which means that it is able to remember its original shape when placed under the right conditions; in this case heat.

The implant is flaccid and slightly curved when at body temperature; but when heated, it expands in length and width to the shape that it “remembers.”

The implant sits inside your penis, and when you wave an accompanying remote-controlled device over your penis, it heats it and thereby expands it.

At this stage it is still in the testing phase, and can’t be deactivated in other exposures like the bathtub, shower, or hot tub.

Doesn’t sound too good does it?

Drop Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 as soon as Today - A Hidden Clue to High Blood Pressure in Men

A new Italian study has shown how focusing on a rather unconventional body measurement may help men to anticipate high blood pressure risks.

And it’s probably not the body part you think it is.

The researchers looked at data on nearly 3,000 men who had sought treatment for sexual dysfunction. They began to notice that a link between those who were most likely to suffer from high blood pressure and heart disease, and this particular measurement.

It turns out that bigger testicles meant a greater likelihood of hypertension and heart disease! So, this is one instance where having extra cojones was not an advantage, except in the sense that it was offering men a rather stark warning.

It’s quite lucky that this measurement was part of the study, because otherwise it might have been missed. Another included measurement was for something called Luteinizing Hormone, which affects testosterone production.
Men with more LH had the largest testicles and the highest blood pressure.

It’s certainly an interesting finding, but further study is definitely needed.

And here’s how you can help erectile dysfunction too, without resorting to drugs or painful procedures…

Drop Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 as soon as Today - These Berries Fix Your Blood Pressure!

In old movies, Roman emperors always seemed to be reclining on a long couch, so that some servant could feed them these delicious little fruits, one by one.

Back in the day, the Romans knew a thing or two about building straight roads, aqueducts, indoor plumbing, and conquering half of the known world, so they probably knew a thing or two about this still-popular fruit as well.

You can still find it at the grocery store in a variety of colors, flavors and shapes, and it can help to conquer high blood pressure quicker than a Roman legion conquers a barbarian horde.

Grapes! That’s what we’re talking about. They are still as tasty and portable as ever, and they even go nicely with a chunk of brie on a sandwich, which is something you can’t say about any other medicine.

Medicine?

Well, you can think of them as a nice fruit if you want to, but the fact that they can help lower your blood pressure, along with bestowing a few other health benefits too means that they’re more than just a juicy snack.

They’re good for you, and the National Health and Nutrition study found that it doesn’t even matter which ones you choose. It turns out that grapes of all shapes and colors have amazing nutritional properties.

They are packed with potassium, vitamins A and C, vitamin B6, fiber, and calcium, which is probably why the study showed that people who eat grapes, or raisins or who drink fresh grape juice have better overall health than those who don’t.

It’s the antioxidants in grapes – called polyphenols – that really pack the biggest punch. They are great at keeping fat at bay in the body, your arteries clear and your blood pressure low.

Of course, if everything else in your diet is terrible then don’t expect grapes to magically make up for that, but if you do like grapes then the chances are that you will make better overall food choices anyway.

We can say this because the study found that people who were regular grape eaters were also more likely to choose other nutritionally healthy foods. So, why not try a few grapes today and you might find that you’re eating better overall as well?

Drop Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 as soon as Today - High Blood Pressure? Eat this Vegetable

Researchers from the Wageningen University in the Netherlands have spent 10 years looking at the diets of 20,000 men and women.

They paid a lot of attention to the fruits and vegetables that these people are the most of, so you can bet they know what’s good for you!

In a novel twist, the researchers grouped all the fruits and vegetables that people were eating by color, because they wanted to find out if some shades of fruit and veg might be more beneficial to heart health than others. The way they group them was white, red/purple, green, and orange/yellow.

Whoever thought of doing it this way was a bit of a genius, because they discovered at the end of the study that fruits and vegetables that are rich in orange and yellow shades gave the best improvements in cardiovascular health.

They also found that the most effective vegetable out of all the oranges and yellows was the humble carrot. It turned out that people who ate carrots more frequently had a 35% lower chance of developing things like high blood pressure.

Scientists put these benefits down to the unique antioxidants like beta carotene found in carrots, not to mention vitamins K, C, B6, B1, and B2, and minerals like calcium and potassium, along with phytonutrients called polyacetylenes. Two of the major ones found in carrots, called falcarinol and falcarindiol have an amazing ability to improve heart health and lower blood pressure.

Now, before you start filling your cheeks with carrots – don’t bother, because there’s really no need to go overboard. Research showed that it wasn’t the amount of carrots eaten that mattered, it was the frequency.

Little and often was the key You only need 25 grams a day, which is like one medium-sized carrot to give your heart what it needs. Just make sure that you get that much every day.

One thing to note though, they’re better for you when they’re raw. Boiling carrots leaches out many of those wonderful nutrients. But if you can’t face crunching on uncooked carrots, then try steaming them instead. That will preserve more of the good stuff that keeps your heart happy.

What is the Best Way for Reversing Type 2 Diabetes on Your Own?

Reversing Type 2 Diabetes on Your Own - Diabetes and Vertigo Connection

As if diabetes wasn’t bad enough on its own, it’s quite common for it to give you vertigo too.

Brazilian researchers have just published a review of scientific literature on that subject in the journal Revista CEFAC, looking at the reasons why it happens.

So, here’s what they identified as the most common causes and symptoms of vertigo in diabetics.

Systemic arterial hypertension. Diabetics have higher blood pressure in their arteries. This restricts blood flow, so organs like the inner ear get less oxygen than they should, and less oxygen there means a higher chance of balance disorders. Your inner ears need a lot of nutrients, but they can’t store them. That’s why it’s vital for healthy arteries to keep bringing them fresh supplies.

Obesity. People with a body mass index above 30 (and so classified as obese) are more likely to have vertigo, but it wasn’t clear why.

Peripheral neuropathy. Nerve damage around the body makes walking more difficult, and many people feel dizzy and off-balance with it.

The symptoms of vertigo are pretty similar in both diabetics and nondiabetics:

Unsteadiness in the dark and on uneven surfaces. Peripheral neuropathy makes it harder for diabetics to maintain their postures and to walk evenly when their legs are affected.

Balance problems when looking at moving objects. This is a common symptom for all vertigo sufferers.

Postural instability when moving your head or body quickly. This is another common symptom of vertigo. Since you already feel dizzy while stationary, your brain struggles even more to make sense of balance information when you start moving fast. This is especially true for diabetics with peripheral neuropathy where their legs are affected, making all their movements erratic and unpredictable.

Stumbling and falling. Previous studies have found that obese people are more likely to fall, and they struggle to carry out normal daily tasks.

Diabetics with peripheral neuropathy also fall more often than those with normal nerve function, because it’s harder for them to walk evenly.
This study underlines yet another reason why maintaining a healthy weight is so important. It helps to prevent diabetes, which then helps to keep vertigo at bay.

It’s also a reminder that the body works as a complete system, where all the various parts need to be healthy for everything to work together properly.

Vertigo may be an inner ear disorder, but it’s not just caused by problems with your ears.

Reversing Type 2 Diabetes on Your Own

A new study published in the journal Diabetes Care proves that people with diabetes can drastically improve, or even cure their disease, without medications if given the right information and management tools.

Although this is of course no news to us natural health researchers who have been supporting people to do this for decades, it’s a great victory to have this acknowledged.

Scientist identified 81 adults in their early 20s with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. All of the subjects were from low socio-economic backgrounds, and all were English or Spanish speakers from Los Angeles County.

The researchers divided the subjects into two groups:

– One to receive an occupational therapy program
– The other to receive general educational material

The occupational therapy program they tested was called Resilient, Empowered, Active Living with Diabetes (or REAL Diabetes, for short).

It consisted of a manual with seven activity-focused chapters: (1) assessment and goal-setting, (2) living with diabetes, (3) access and advocacy, (4) activity and health, (5) social support, (6) emotions and well-being, and (7) long-term health.

The contents of the chapters were very practical and focused on specific steps towards behavior change.

An occupational therapist worked through one chapter with the subjects biweekly to make the process interactive.

The general educational group received standardized educational material together with a biweekly phone call.

The researchers, who did not know which participants received which program, were responsible for assessing the subjects hemoglobin A1c levels (their average level of blood sugar over the past two to three months), their diabetes self-care, their diabetes-related quality of life, their diabetes distress, their depressive symptoms, and their life satisfaction.

All subjects were tested at the beginning of the study and again after six months to check whether there was an improvement.

After six months, the REAL Diabetes program group showed a significant more improvement in hemoglobin A1c, in diabetes-related quality of life, and in habit strength for self-monitoring blood glucose.

The fact that both programs included the same amount of human interaction suggests that human interaction was not the reason for the effectiveness of the REAL Diabetes program.

The authors speculated that the REAL program’s success was due to its ability to build healthy goals and habits in the participants.

This shows that given the right information and tools, people can move mountains.

Reversing Type 2 Diabetes on Your Own - Beat Type 2 Diabetes 47%

If you’re a mother, according to a new study published in JAMA Internal Medicine, you can lower your risk of type 2 diabetes by a whopping 47% by doing this one thing.

Not only that, you will also help protect your child from both type 1 and type 2 diabetes in addition to tons of other health benefits.

For this study, scientists analyzed information already collected by a long-term study called Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults.

The researchers identified 1,238 subjects, all women between the ages of 18 and 30 at the beginning of the study.

They were all diabetes-free at the beginning and all of them gave birth to at least one baby during subsequent years.

All of the subjects reported their breastfeeding duration for each baby and their diabetes status was tested at least seven times throughout the following 30 years.

Compared to women who never breastfed, those who did it for six months or less had a 25% smaller risk of developing diabetes later in their lives.

Also, compared to non-breastfeeders, those who breastfed for more than six months had a 47.5% smaller chance of dodging the diabetes bullet.
Interestingly, past studies have also concluded that breastfeeding can prevent your kids from developing diabetes.

For example, in a 2014 article in the journal Jornal de Pediatria, scientists reviewed 21 relevant studies, nine on type 1 diabetes and 12 on type 2 diabetes.

The majority of the studies concluded that longer breastfeeding conferred a lower risk of both types of diabetes.
