Stop Snoring Immediately - Snoring Ruins Cognitive Function – How to Regain It

Snoring is one of the greatest indicators of sleep apnea, and sleep apnea has long been proven to cause cognitive impairment.

So, the question is: If you feel like your memory is not as good as it used to be, can you regain it by tackling your snoring and sleep apnea.

A new study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society has a promising answer to this, but it has to be done in a specific way or your cognitive function may rapidly worsen.

Scientists consider mild cognitive impairment to be the stage between normal cognitive status and Alzheimer’s disease.

This is where you don’t have major problems accomplishing your daily tasks, but your memory and decision-making are worse than those of people who age without cognitive problems.

Continuous positive airway pressure (or CPAP) has always been the gold standard of sleep apnea treatments, but as it requires you to sleep with an uncomfortable face mask that forces air down your airway, most people do not comply with the treatment.

The authors of the new study examined whether the correct application of CPAP treatment can reverse mild cognitive impairment that is caused by sleep apnea.

They recruited 68 volunteers with mild cognitive impairment who had been presented at sleep and geriatric clinics, and these volunteers were aged between 55 and 89.

The researchers split them into a group that used CPAP and a group that did not. They also monitored the CPAP user’s adherence to the treatment, with the classification of adhering to the treatment being if they used it for at least four hours per night over the course of a year.

After a year, the scientists gave them a variety of tests to measure their ability to learn and remember and their psychomotor/cognitive processing speed.

The researchers found that there was a substantial improvement in the psychomotor/cognitive processing speeds of those who adhered to the CPAP as compared to those who did not use it. This also referred to actions that resulted from conscious cognitive processing.

They also experienced a small to medium improvement in memory, attention, daytime sleepiness, and everyday function.

However, the cognitive abilities of those who did not use CPAP did not just stagnate. Instead, they worsened. So, they did not just fail to improve, they declined.

The researchers recommended that doctors inform their patients of studies like this one to motivate them to use CPAP machines properly, but it is possible that some people may still remain unconvinced.

After all, if your poor sleep originates from having to wear an uncomfortable face mask, you may not be convinced that cognitive improvements can result from such poor sleep.

Stop Snoring Immediately - Weird Sleep Apnea Myth Busted

Sleep apnea is notoriously difficult to self-diagnose since you are, by definition, not awake when the breathing pauses occur.

Similarly, snoring is often associated with sleep apnea but it’s not a clear diagnosis.

Researchers have always believed that daytime sleepiness is one of sleep apnea’s most common symptoms, and that this can serve as an indication that you might be a sufferer.

But a new study in the Journal Chest has now proven that it actually is not a symptom of sleep apnea at all.

Instead, there are three other factors that clearly indicate that you suffer sleep apnea.

The researchers wanted to compare short sleep duration and sleep apnea and their effects on diabetes, cardiovascular health, daytime sleepiness, and anxiety and depressive symptoms. This was to see which was actually responsible for the worst consequences.

They collected the medical data of 2,064 Brazilian adults who had participated in the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health. This included a full medical examination, home sleep monitoring, a motor movement sensor to measure rest and activity, and a sleep questionnaire.

The participants were classified as having sleep apnea if they experienced more than 15 breathing pauses per hour, and as having a short sleep duration if they slept an average of fewer than six hours per 24-hour day.

32.9 percent of them suffered from sleep apnea and 27.2 percent were short sleepers. Compared to their peers, the short sleepers were found to be 44 percent more likely to struggle with daytime sleepiness.

However, the most surprising finding was that people with sleep apnea were not more likely to be sleepy during the day, as originally thought by most scientists and medical practitioners.

While they did find that people with sleep apnea were 10% more likely than the other participants to be sleepy during the day, this finding was not statistically significant, which meant that the researchers could not rule out that the daytime sleepiness occurred randomly rather than being a direct cause of sleep apnea.

One of the causes of this lack of statistical significance may have been that participants had to rate their own daytime sleepiness on a questionnaire. It is possible that some people who were only slightly sleepy might have reported themselves as sleepy, while others with mild sleepiness would have rated themselves as fine.

Regarding the other symptoms, people with sleep apnea were found to be worse off than short sleepers were.

Compared to people without sleep apnea, people with this sleep breathing disorder were 3.9 times more likely to be obese, 31 percent more likely to have high blood pressure and 24 percent more likely to have high cholesterol or other fats in their blood.

However, Short sleeping did not have an effect on these three health indicators. This is somewhat surprising, as many previous studies have linked short sleeping with obesity and these heart problems.

Yet, the conclusions of this study may have differed from previous studies because they did not require participants to rate their own sleep duration on a questionnaire, instead opting to test for it objectively via a wrist-worn device.

Stop Snoring Immediately - Snoring Causes a Sudden Death in Healthy People

A new study published in the journal ERJ Open Research sheds some light on a baffling question.

Why are healthy people all over the world dropping dead from a heart attack without any sign of heart injuries or abnormalities?

And the only sign that something is wrong might be their snoring.

While the researchers focused on fit young athletes, the same cause may apply to anyone who snores.

They recruited 42 male rugby players from the Nippon Sport Science University in Japan who underwent cardiorespiratory assessments both whiles being awake and asleep.

Impressively, 43 percent of them were found to suffer from sleep apnea, a percentage that the authors discovered was higher than those found in the general population and for older people.

Most of the athletics suffered from a mild form of sleep apnea, with a few struggling with a moderate form.

None of them had severe sleep apnea.

Predictably, compared with the athletes without sleep apnea, those with this disordered breathing had lower blood oxygen levels and more periods where their blood oxygen was extremely low. Importantly, they also experienced a higher pulse rate, even while at rest.

These are all indicators of a heart attack in the making.

80 percent of people suffering from sleep apnea have no idea that they have it. And the only clear indicator is loud snoring.

Snoring is almost always an indicator of some level of sleep apnea as it’s caused by blockages in the breathing passages.

And as this study shows, even a mild and moderate form of sleep apnea can lead to a sudden heart attack, even in otherwise healthy individuals.

The Stop Snoring and Sleep Apnea Program offers a revolutionary new approach to help people treat sleep apnea symptoms. Snoring is not only disruptive to our partners, but it poses health risks as well, especially for people who suffer from sleep apnea.

What is the Best Way to Tackle Erection Dysfunction Causes?

Tackle Erection Dysfunction Causes - ED Directly Caused By These Common Drugs. If you had to choose between permanent hair loss or suffering ED, which one would you pick? Honest question because drugs commonly prescribed to help halt hair loss have now been proven to cause ED—even years after using them. But these drugs are not just prescribed for hair loss.

Tackle Erection Dysfunction Causes - Is Your ED Caused By Your Personality Type? (Study)

One of the most popular models of personality that psychologists have used for decades is the Big Five personality traits model.

This ranks people into five overarching personality categories, each with some sub-traits to flesh them out.

A new study that has just been presented at the European Association of Urology Congress has concluded that men who scored higher on one of these five categories are more likely than other men to struggle with ED.

The big five personality categories and their sub-traits are the following:

1. Openness to experience. Imagination, artistic interests, awareness of own emotions, adventurousness, intellect, readiness to challenge authority.

2. Conscientiousness. Self-efficacy, orderliness, dutifulness, achievement striving, self-discipline, and cautiousness.

3. Extraversion. Friendliness, gregariousness, assertiveness, activity level, excitement-seeking, and cheerfulness.

4. Agreeableness. Trust, non-manipulation, altruism, cooperation, modesty, and sympathy.

5. Neuroticism. Anxiety, anger, depression, self-consciousness, immoderation, and vulnerability.

Find a Big Five Personality test (often called an IPIP-NEO test) on the internet and complete it, as it is a lot of fun.

Can you guess which personality type puts you at risk of ED?
Neuroticism is the culprit.

The researchers analyzed 761 men who had undergone prostate surgery for prostate cancer in Norway. They reported on their recovery from the surgery and also completed a personality test.

Prostate surgery often results in ED and urinary incontinence, and the scientists wanted to ascertain if there was a personality type that put men at risk of slower recovery from these problems post-surgery.

On the personality test, 22 percent of participants scored higher on neuroticism, which is around the average for men in developed countries.

These highly neurotic men scored around 20 percent worse on the problematic side effects of the surgery than the non-neurotic men. They all reported ED, urinary incontinence, and bowel problems.

This makes a useful contribution to the literature, because past studies mostly concentrated on the surgical methods and location or severity of the prostate cancer as causes of the side effects and the inability to overcome them.

Now we know that personality also plays a role.

The researchers also warned that one should not think of neuroticism as a psychological disorder. It is a personality trait.

All of us are sometimes anxious, sometimes depressed, sometimes angry, and so on. Those who experience these emotions often are the high scorers.

Tackle Erection Dysfunction Causes - ED Directly Caused By These Common Drugs

If you had to choose between permanent hair loss or suffering ED, which one would you pick?

Honest question because drugs commonly prescribed to help halt hair loss have now been proven to cause ED—even years after using them.

But these drugs are not just prescribed for hair loss.

They’re also used for another common condition (not so vain). So if you’re a man over 50, chances are you’re taking these drugs, with dim side effects of ED.

We’re talking about any of the 5-reductase inhibitor drugs like finasteride (Propecia) or dutasteride.

These drugs are mainly prescribed for two conditions:

1) male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)
2) and enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia).

Scientists at Northwestern University have just published a study in the journal PeerJ focused on the severe side effects of these drugs.

They used medical information from Northwestern Medicine’s electronic data repository of men who had taken 5-reductase inhibitors.

1.5% of those taking these drugs developed Erectile Dysfunction as a direct consequence. And the sexual dysfunction lasted for 3.5–6.5 years after they stopped using the drugs.

This stands in stark contrast to the promise on the drug labels that the symptoms of ED vanish the moment you stop taking the drug!

Tackle Erection Dysfunction Causes - How Botox Cures ED (men put on a smile)

Is it possible elite male superstars and politicians loading their faces with Botox are actually doing it for a little naughty alternative reason?

Could it be more about the little friend’s function than their mirror image?
That’s actually a long shot theory. But nevertheless, a new study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine has revealed how Botox may actually cure ED… if used in a specific way.

When your prostate’s cells multiply and start to take up the space of your urethra, your urine can no longer pass freely through your urethra.

As a result, the muscles in your bladder start to contract powerfully to propel the urine through your narrowed urethra, and the smooth muscles in your urethra contract equally powerfully to get the urine through.

This creates a permanent uncomfortable feeling of having to urinate and even cramps in your urinary tract.

To treat this, some doctors inject Botox to relax the smooth muscles and prevent them from contracting.

Taiwanese researchers published a study in the journal BJU International in 2006 that tested this treatment on men with enlarged prostates, finding that it could indeed relieve what are called lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

The Canadian researchers then thought that, since many erectile difficulties result from the contraction of smooth muscles in your penis, and since Botox has proved successful to relax smooth muscles in the urethra, wouldn’t Botox also work to relax smooth muscles in your penis to restore your erectile function?

They tested it on a few rats who experienced an improvement in their erectile function, with promising results.

However, Botox is derived from the deadly neurotoxin, botulinum. It works by paralyzing muscles, which is why it works on wrinkles caused by muscles in the face.

You probably don’t warm to the idea of having a deadly poison injected into your manhood. And you don’t have to.

Reverse Plaque Buildup in Your Arteries - Your Heart Health Depends on Who You Live With. Are you more likely to suffer a heart attack and stroke if you live alone or share a home with others? Reverse Plaque Buildup in Your Arteries - Your Heart Health Depends on Who You Live With

Are you more likely to suffer a heart attack and stroke if you live alone or share a home with others?

That was the question asked in a new study that was published in the journal Heart.

And the answer is: it depends on who you are!

To check whether this statement was true, they identified 32,367 people with CAD (coronary artery disease) from the Clarify registry of patients with a stable CAD. These people originated from 45 countries and had their information collected between 2009 and 2010.

They were observed for an average of five years to see which of them would have a major, adverse cardiovascular event, and this included stroke, heart attack, and cardiovascular death.

People with stable CAD are people whose arteries were narrowed or clogged with cholesterol but who did not have any trouble with them for the last few months.

Among the participants, 11.3 percent lived alone.

When they calculated the chance of a major cardiovascular event, they found that there was no difference between those who lived alone and those who cohabited.

But that was not the most interesting find.

Men who lived alone were 17 percent more likely to suffer from a cardiovascular event than men who lived with others.

From this, the scientists speculated that men who used to be married and lived with their spouses lacked the coping mechanisms and social support outside the home that women tended to have.

On the other hand, women who lived alone tended to have a slightly smaller chance of a cardiovascular event than women who cohabited with others.

The researchers again speculated that it may have been because of the fact that married women still had a tendency to take on the lion’s share of responsibilities around the home, causing some stress that single dwelling women can avoid.

But the most important factor is not who you live with. Rather, it is to clear out the plaque buildup in your arteries. And in order to reverse plaque buildup in your arteries, you must cut out this ONE ingredient that you didn’t even know you were consuming…

Reverse Plaque Buildup in Your Arteries - The Best Protein for Heart Health Revealed (Study)

High protein diets have become extremely popular as of late.

Millions of people and numerous studies have revealed the amazing health benefits of those types of diets, and these include weight loss, blood sugar level, and cardiovascular health.

But what types of protein is the best, especially if you are going to eat a large amount of it?

Two new studies put this question to a test and revealed a surprising winner. In fact, this might completely change how most people do their Keto.

In the first study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, which was not strictly related to cardiovascular disease, Finnish scientists wanted to know whether people who consumed their proteins in animal form were more likely to die of diseases than those who consumed plant proteins. These diseases included cardiovascular diseases, along with diabetes and cancer.

They identified the details of 2,641 Finnish men that had already been collected by the Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study. These men were all between aged between 42 and 60 at the beginning of the study and their information included a dietary register.

The researchers also collected records pertaining to disease-caused deaths from the National Causes of Death Register.

After observing the participants for an average of 22 years, they found that red meat eaters were more likely to die of diseases than people who avoided this protein form.

1. Those who ate meat were 23 percent more likely to die than those who ate the least.

2. Those who ate a larger quantity of red meat relative compared to plant proteins were 23 percent more likely to die than those who ate the most plant proteins relative to red meat.

3. Fish, eggs, and dairy did not increase their disease-caused death risk.

In general, people who ate the highest amount of protein were 17 percent more likely to die than those who ate the lowest amount of it.

The second study, published in the journal Circulation, was an overview of published studies.

They found 36 studies that compared the effects of different types of diets on cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides (blood fats).

They divided the diets according to the source of protein: red meat, poultry and fish, fish only, poultry only, mixed animal (meat and dairy), plant proteins (legumes, soy, nuts), carbohydrates (mostly low-quality refined ones), and the usual mixed diet.

The findings are as follows:

1. Compared with all the other diets combined, red meat eaters had the same cholesterol, but higher triglycerides.

2. Compared with red meat eaters, plant protein eaters experienced a larger drop in total cholesterol and LDL (unhealthy) cholesterol.

3. Compared with fish eaters, red meat eaters had a larger drop in both LDL (unhealthy) and HDL (healthy) cholesterol, thus making it a mixed blessing.

4. Compared with carbohydrate eaters, red meat eaters had a healthier cholesterol and blood fat profile.

Both studies clearly prove that vegetable protein (nuts, soy, and legumes) is the healthiest for your heart.

So, if you’re going for a high protein diet, load up on nuts, legumes and a limited amount of soy instead of taking meat – especially red meat.

Reverse Plaque Buildup in Your Arteries - This Increases Heart Attack Risk 71%

It’s a well-researched fact that stress raises blood pressure. But what about other cardiovascular factors, such as strokes and heart attacks?
A team of Swedish scientists decided to study further regarding that question.

And consequently, it was found that stress worsened all types of cardiovascular health. However, it was surprising to note that most of the timings were wrong.

The researchers used various Swedish population registers to identify 136,637 people diagnosed with stress disorders between 1987 and 2013, 171,314 of their siblings without such disorders, and 1,366,370 people from the general population who were unaffected by a stress disorder.

The study included the siblings because they needed to exclude the possibility that genes rather than stress disorders were responsible for cardiovascular disease.

The stress disorders studied included post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, adjustment disorder, and other stress reactions.

They consulted the Swedish National Patient Register to check which of these people ended up developing cardiovascular diseases, including ischemic heart disease (narrowed arteries), cerebrovascular disease (affecting the blood supply to the brain), emboli/thrombosis (blocked blood vessels or blood clots), hypertensive diseases, heart failure, and arrhythmia/conduction disorder (irregular heartbeat).

Conclusion:

People affected by stress disorder were 64 percent more likely than their unaffected siblings and 71 percent more likely than other unaffected individuals to develop heart disease in the first year after their diagnoses with a stress disorder.

More than a year after the stress diagnoses, these percentages dropped to 29 and 36 percent, showing that the effect of stress was especially serious during the first year (so that’s what we meant by the timing being wrong).

They also concluded that post-traumatic stress disorder had a stronger effect on heart health than other stress-related disorders.

The person’s sex, family history of cardiovascular disease, history of psychological disorders, and co-occurring psychological disorders, such as depression had no influence on the findings.

This suggests that you should take especially good care of your heart after an extremely traumatic event like a violent attack, rape, a serious car accident, or a natural disaster.

It also shows how important it is to give yourself a break after such an event to practice as many relaxation techniques as you can fit into your daily schedule.

But stress does not just include emotional stress. It can also be physical (diseases), sensual (constant traffic noise), and mental (long-lasting mental task). All these factors can increase your stress hormone level and your risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Lower Blood Pressure in Minutes - This No-No-Food Beats Blood Pressure Drugs

Many foods that were on the “do not eat” list a few years ago have been researched more- only to find out we should have been eating them all along.

One such food in particular has been recently found to reduce high blood pressure by as much as taking a dose of the leading blood pressure drug, and it’s likely sitting in your fridge right now.

Using hypertensive rats, the researchers isolated a chemical found in egg whites called RVPSL.

Even after heat-treating the chemical, as would be found when cooking egg white, researchers found that the rat’s blood pressure came down as much as it would after receiving a single dose of most popular ACE-Inhibitor blood pressure drugs.

While the researchers acknowledge that more studies would need to be done to see its benefits in humans, they were encouraged to see that the natural compounds in egg whites can be used in concert with other treatments to find effective, safer treatment for hypertension.

Lower Blood Pressure in Minutes - Yummy Fruit Heals Genetic High Blood Pressure

Most people would agree that if they’ve been eating unhealthily, not exercising or under a lot of stress, their high blood pressure could be healed with lifestyle changes.

A new study revealed that one common fruit can actually alter the gene function in your heart to lower your blood pressure naturally.

Best of all: It’s very tasty and can be found in all supermarkets.

Researchers have long been aware of the benefits of grapes. Respected experts, such as Dr. Mark Hyman, have even called it the “mother of all antioxidants.” But now it seems that the fruit is even better than was initially thought.

A recent study published by the University of Michigan showed that grapes work to promote an increase in glutathione levels within the heart – an antioxidant that fights against heart disease that is specifically linked to high blood pressure.

The scientists fed rats an extremely high-fat diet. Then they supplemented them with a large amount of powdered grape.

The results were outstanding. The grape powder actually prevented the hearts of the rats from becoming enlarged and the arteries from hardening, an occurrence that usually happens with humans and animals on a high-fat diet.

Once the scientists were aware of the positive benefits of grapes, they went on to conduct a further study.

Now they fed the grape-rich diet to rats that suffered from hypertension. This new diet lasted for 18 weeks and the results were even more significant than those seen previously.

The grapes actually altered the very genes of the animals.

Furthermore, by altering the genes, the grapes boosted the antioxidant abilities of the cells in the heart, thus preventing it from stiffening and suffering under the ravages of high blood pressure.

This shows that even genetic high blood pressure can be healed naturally.

Lower Blood Pressure in Minutes - Effortlessly Drop Blood Pressure 10 Points in 5 Minutes

Lowering blood pressure significantly with workout requires a lot of blood, sweat, and pain – which is why most people don’t do it.

For these same reasons, three new studies published in the FASEB Journal have been making waves, as they have proof of a simple, almost effortless exercise that is more effective than hours of aerobics or weight training.

Best of all, it only takes five minutes and you can do it anywhere.

In the 1970s and 1980s, medical professionals started using a method called inspiratory muscle strength training to wean people off respirators and to increase the lung capacity of people that had lung diseases.

This treatment required them to breathe through a hand-held device called an inspiratory muscle trainer, which provided resistance when they inhaled.

As such, the device is similar to the weights you use in weight resistance training to strengthen your muscles. The only difference is it just works on your inspiratory muscles.

In the first study, Colorado researchers split 13 volunteers, all with resting systolic blood pressure that was above 120 mmHg, into a real treatment group and a sham treatment group.

The real treatment group had to breathe through this device for six days a week for six weeks, taking 30 breaths per day. The device was set on 75 percent maximum inspiratory pressure.

The sham group was asked to do it for the same amount of time and number of breaths, but the device they used was a sham device that provided no resistance.

After six weeks, they found two important improvements in the treatment group.

1. Their resting systolic blood pressure was considerably lower than that of the sham treatment group. This was just over 10 mmHg lower than prior to the study.

2. Their large arteries functioned better by being better able to dilate in response to blood flow.

The scientists were thus pleasantly surprised, as a 10-mmHg blood pressure reduction is better than what any long aerobic exercise session can accomplish.

It is also better than what any single blood pressure drug can do.

In the second study, they asked 14 volunteers to run on a treadmill after the same six-week schedule of breathing, after dividing the volunteers into the same real and sham treatment groups.

After the study, the treatment group was found to be able to exercise longer, with less cardiorespiratory effort, and at a lower heart rate than the sham treatment group could.

The third study also used 14 volunteers divided into the same two groups, with the same breathing schedules for the same amount of time.

After six weeks, they again found a 10-mmHg resting systolic blood pressure reduction in the treatment group.

On top of that, the treatment group also showed some cognitive improvements, such as being able to process information faster and being able to remember better.

Interestingly, our simple blood pressure exercises are based on very similar techniques as the inspiratory muscle trainer. The only difference? We do not need a machine.

So, if you don’t have an inspiratory muscle trainer lying around and want to lower blood pressure in minutes, you can just do the exercises found here for as little as nine minutes per day (and reap even greater results)…

This post is from the High Blood Pressure Exercise Program. It was made by Christian Goodman Blue Heron health news that has been recognized as one of the top quality national health information websites.  This program will provide you the natural high blood pressure treatments, natural recipes to cook healthy meals and useful strategies to build a healthy diet with the aim to help you to maintain, stabilize and lower blood pressure in minutes permanently and naturally.
