What Can You Do to Fix High Blood Pressure without Expensive Medications?

Looking for an easy-to-eat food that can fix high blood pressure, dangerous cholesterol and diabetes, all at the same time?

It seems too good to be true since “magic bullet” foods are generally kind of unpalatable and hard to find.

Most doctors and nutritionists recommend adding whole grains to your diet if you are suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, and unhealthy cholesterol levels.

What is in this grain that can help you to fix high blood pressure?

Chances are, you already know about the power of buckwheat.
Buckwheat isn’t actually wheat at all. It’s a seed. And what an amazing seed it is.

This little food is so packed with nutrients and healthful benefits that it just boggles the mind that more people don’t include it in their diets.

Buckwheat is considered a fruit grain, but has all the benefits of actual cereal grains. It is packed with a host of vitamins and nutrients, and because it can be eaten without processing, almost all of them find their way to your body’s systems because they don’t perish in a cooking or preparation process.

Because of its very high concentrations of magnesium, tryptophan, and manganese, buckwheat is an excellent grain for those with heart disease, high blood pressure, or other circulatory diseases. These nutrients are generally lacking in most Western diets, so this fits the bill nicely.

It is also very high in fiber, which is the golden pass to cholesterol bliss. It can be difficult to get enough fiber in the diet, especially if you aren’t a fan of raw vegetables or just gag at the thought of choking down another bran muffin.

Buckwheat can be found in almost any health food store, and because of its growing popularity, is finding its way onto commercial grocery store shelves as well.

As far as serving size goes, you can eat as much or as little as you want, although it is recommended to eat about 5 to 10 ounces a week.

Because they have a very mild, almost unnoticeable taste, people put seeds and sprouts in everything from entrees to desserts. And because most buckwheat that you find at health food stores is going to be without genetic modification, you can rest easy that you are eating a whole food that will do your body a world of good.

What Could Cause Doctors to Yield Inaccurate Blood Pressure Readings?

Blood pressure readings can go wrong in two obvious ways: a high reading when your blood pressure is actually normal or a normal reading when your blood pressure is sky-high. Both are problematic, as the former may convince healthy people to take medications that may make them sick, and as the latter may prompt unhealthy people to continue their unhealthy lifestyles.

In a study in Canadian Family Physician, researchers at the University of MontrĂ©al have now discovered that the majority of doctors may inadvertently give you incorrect blood pressure readings.

Researchers in Montréal were interested in the numbers of Canadian practitioners who used electronic versus manual blood pressure measurement devices for doing blood pressure readings.

To find out more, they mailed a survey to randomly selected doctors who were members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

A total of 769 doctors returned the survey.

Of all the participants, 54.2% (417 altogether) stated that they used manual equipment to measure their patient’s blood pressure, usually a mercury or aneroid device and a stethoscope.

Only 42.9% (330) reported using automated equipment for blood pressure readings.

When they were asked what appliances were responsible for the most hypertension diagnoses, they reported:

– automated equipment: 31.1%
– manual measurement: 21.4%
– home-based instruments: 22.4%
– 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring: 14.4%

Of diagnosed cases, 68.7% were managed through home monitoring, 63.6% by manual office equipment, and 59.2% by automated office instruments.

Why is this important?

Previous studies have found that automated instruments are more accurate in their blood pressure readings than the manual types.

Unlike manual ones, automated device’s blood pressure readings don’t need to be interpreted, and they therefore exclude the possibility of human error.

All of this made the Canadian researchers think that 20% or more people treated for high blood pressure may not actually have a problem.

Therefore, if you want to obtain an accurate reading, ask your doctor whether it is possible to receive a reading with an automated device.

Nothing beats fruits when it comes to great health benefits, the tasty way.

One tiny delicious fruit has now been found to be the king of natural healing.

Which Fruit Can Help to Manage Blood Pressure?

In fact, a new study conducted by University of Mississippi Medical Center found that by adding this fruit to your diet, you will lower your blood pressure 7.5 points.

Even more importantly, decreases your risk of heart attack whooping 32%.

Blueberries have long been known to be the most powerful super-health-food on the planet earth

What Is in This Fruit That Works to Manage Blood Pressure?

It carries more types of antioxidants than any other type of food and therefore fight free radicals and inflammations like nothing else. What’s more, they’re loaded with Vitamin C, fiber and the mineral, manganese all of which are essential for the body.

A cup of blueberries contributes only about 80 calories, so it’s a perfect snack for people on diet.

The answer is in a chemical compound called pterostilbene, which is found in blueberries and grapes. Pterostilbene helps lower blood pressure according to the findings of a new study.

A group of researchers conducted a randomized, double-blind study in which participants were administered different doses of pterostilbene extract up to 125 milligrams per day or a placebo (that does nothing).

All participants who were administered the extract showed a reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Average drop was about 7.5 points.

Note that the researchers used extract in this study. You’d have to eat a lot of blueberries to get the same amount of pterostilbene. But since blueberries include so many other antioxidants, handful or two a day is plenty to get great health benefits.

Another research that focused on data from Nurses’ Health Study II reviewed the diets of 93,000 women.

They discovered that those who included blueberries regularly in their diet were 32% less likely to get a heart attack compared to those whose diet was rich in other fruits and vegetables but not blueberries.

Both studies have one message for people who want to manage blood pressure and prevent heart attack – eat blueberries whenever you can!

Is Low Blood Pressure as Dangerous as Hypertension?

You have heard over and over again that high blood pressure is deadly. But how about low blood pressure? Is it possible that it is as bad or even worse than high? Read on to find out more.

You have heard over and over again that high blood pressure is deadly.

But how about low blood pressure? Is it possible that it is as bad or even worse than high?

In some cases, the answer is yes and then you have to take immediate action to raise your low blood pressure to a healthy level.

Low blood pressure can be dangerous for two reasons.

It can either restrict blood supply to essential organs, or it can indicate that you have some other serious condition.

Restricting blood flow to your essential organs poses obvious risks:

#1 - If your brain does not receive enough blood, its cells die. In a 2013 study in the journal JAMA Neurology, researchers showed that people whose diastolic pressure was below 70 mmHg experienced faster brain atrophy than people whose blood pressure was in the normal range.

#2 - In 2016, a study co-authored by researchers at Imperial College London found that people with clogged arteries who also have low blood pressure are at higher risk of death, heart attack, and hospitalization for heart failure than their peers with clogged arteries and normal blood pressure.

In addition, low blood pressure can indicate that you have one of the following serious and potentially deadly conditions:

#1 - Internal bleeding reduces the amount of blood in your vessels and consequently lowers your blood pressure. This type of bleeding can be caused by large cancerous tumors.

#2 - An abnormally slow heart rate, called bradycardia, causes low blood pressure and can be a result of heart disease or progressive heart failure.

#3 - Low blood pressure can be a sign of hormonal insufficiencies like that of cortisol and the thyroid hormone. Cortisol insufficiency can cause your body to go into severe shock, from which it is possible to die, upon extremely stressful events.

Thyroid hormone insufficiency can cause exhaustion, depression, and, for women, babies with retarded physical and intellectual growth.

#4 - Some bacterial infections can lead to extreme septic shock when the bacteria spread from the original site of infection. These bacteria typically damage blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and possibly cause death.

#5 - Vitamin B12 deficiency causes low blood pressure, and this can lead to severe mental and intellectual retardation. Because these can only be obtained in sufficient amounts from animal products, vegans should consider vitamin B12 supplementation.

What common spice has the power to relieve pain (arthritis and other), reverse diabetes, normalize high blood pressure, end heart disease, and do just about everything else a body needs?

It’s hard to believe that a common food seasoning can do so much but it can- and has been doing it for thousands of years.

Even researchers in the scientific community agree that including this one single spice can cure a litany of health problems.

For millennia, cayenne pepper has been the go-to cure for almost every health problem there is. It is even used as the main ingredient in the spray that repels combatants or attackers. It is powerful, but completely natural.

The active ingredient, capsaicin, has been used for many hundreds of years across thousands of cultures to cure everything from pain to heart problems.

But what makes it work to normalize high blood pressure?

Capsaicin works to normalize high blood pressure, by affecting the receptors that govern neural-hormonal systems. By making the receptors more sensitive, the body doesn’t have to work as hard to produce the hormones needed to soften the arterial walls.

However, because of its effectiveness in helping to normalize high blood pressure, you should talk to your doctor before you start on a capsaicin regimen.

It is available at most health food stores but people can get into complications with traditional drugs by supplementing without their doctor’s oversight. So just make sure you have his or her blessing to try it.

Because of its influence on veins and arteries, it has actually been attributed to being able to stop a heart attack in mere seconds.

But it also can stop pain, which is critical for people who have conditions that make it impossible to take pills.

The oily structure of cayenne pepper makes it highly permeable through the skin, and the pepper’s compounds have been proven too dull angry nerve endings.

This is why people who suffer from arthritis love it as an alternative to NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). These drugs can cause a host of side effects, including ulcers or other bleeding disorders.

Cayenne pepper doesn’t affect the body in this way, and can be used as a topical treatment. This makes it a safer choice for many with chronic pain disorders like arthritis.

The pepper even has positive effects in the digestive tract, helping to rid the body of dangerous, cholesterol-filled fats that would find their way into arteries. It has also been shown to aid in peristalsis, which is the concentric squeezing of muscles that moves food through the digestive tract.

Improving metabolism and circulation helps keep the diabetes gremlin out of the picture as well.

While there isn’t a generally recognized serving size, most charts will reference the nutritive benefits based upon a 2-teaspoon serving.

However, if you are like many people who are not accustomed to eating or ingesting this pepper, 2 teaspoons can pack a real wallop.

Work your way into using it slowly to normalize high blood pressure, by using no more than a tiny pinch in your soups, stews, egg dishes, etc. Gradually increase the amounts as your body (and taste buds) acclimate to the increasing serving size. Cayenne pepper can be really hot!

What Can Lower Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 Without Cutting Down Your Salt Intake?

If you love salty food and want to lower your blood pressure below 120/80, you’re going to love today’s article.

A new study, published in the American Journal of Physiology in April 2017, proves that eating a lot of another delicious mineral, gives you a free pass on salt.

This common mineral can lower your blood pressure below 120/80, no matter if you consume a lot of salt or not.

According to the study, people in isolated societies with limited imported food eat a lot more potassium and a lot less sodium than those in developed countries.

This is unsurprising, as they eat more naturally grown fruit, vegetables, and grains than people in developed countries, and substantially less food preserved in cans, jars, and packets.

But the population studies go further.

When the team compared studies on high-potassium populations to those on low-potassium populations, they found that consuming a lot of potassium was much more important than using little salt.

Regardless of the amount of sodium they consumed, populations with a high potassium intake had lower blood pressure than those with low potassium consumption.

You find plenty of potassium in dark green vegetables, potato and sweet potatoes with their skins, mushrooms, beans, bananas, avocados, dried fruits, salmon, and yogurt.
