Furthermore, by altering the genes, the grapes boosted the antioxidant abilities of the cells in the heart, thus preventing it from stiffening and suffering under the ravages of high blood pressure.

This shows that even genetic high blood pressure can be healed naturally.

For these same reasons, three new studies published in the FASEB Journal have been making waves, as they have proof of a simple, almost effortless exercise that is more effective than hours of aerobics or weight training.

Best of all, it only takes five minutes and you can do it anywhere.

In the 1970s and 1980s, medical professionals started using a method called inspiratory muscle strength training to wean people off respirators and to increase the lung capacity of people that had lung diseases.

This treatment required them to breathe through a hand-held device called an inspiratory muscle trainer, which provided resistance when they inhaled.

As such, the device is similar to the weights you use in weight resistance training to strengthen your muscles. The only difference is it just works on your inspiratory muscles.

In the first study, Colorado researchers split 13 volunteers, all with resting systolic blood pressure that was above 120 mmHg, into a real treatment group and a sham treatment group.

The real treatment group had to breathe through this device for six days a week for six weeks, taking 30 breaths per day. The device was set on 75 percent maximum inspiratory pressure.

The sham group was asked to do it for the same amount of time and number of breaths, but the device they used was a sham device that provided no resistance.

After six weeks, they found two important improvements in the treatment group.

1. Their resting systolic blood pressure was considerably lower than that of the sham treatment group. This was just over 10 mmHg lower than prior to the study.

2. Their large arteries functioned better by being better able to dilate in response to blood flow.

The scientists were thus pleasantly surprised, as a 10-mmHg blood pressure reduction is better than what any long aerobic exercise session can accomplish.

It is also better than what any single blood pressure drug can do.

In the second study, they asked 14 volunteers to run on a treadmill after the same six-week schedule of breathing, after dividing the volunteers into the same real and sham treatment groups.

After the study, the treatment group was found to be able to exercise longer, with less cardiorespiratory effort, and at a lower heart rate than the sham treatment group could.

The third study also used 14 volunteers divided into the same two groups, with the same breathing schedules for the same amount of time.

After six weeks, they again found a 10-mmHg resting systolic blood pressure reduction in the treatment group.

On top of that, the treatment group also showed some cognitive improvements, such as being able to process information faster and being able to remember better.

Interestingly, our simple blood pressure exercises are based on very similar techniques as the inspiratory muscle trainer. The only difference? We do not need a machine.

A new 16-year study involving 350,000 people and published in the Diabetologia Journal shows that there is a devastating effect of one of the most popular drinks on the market.

Just one drink per day can spike type-2 diabetes by a whopping 22%.

Researchers recently conducted an impressive study on about 350,000 people based throughout the UK, Denmark, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, focusing their attention on the number of sugary drinks that they consumed on a regular basis, among other lifestyle choices.

Approximately 12,000 of the subjects developed type-2 diabetes between 1991 and 2007.

Those who consumed only one 12-ounce soda per day had an 18% higher chance of developing type-2 diabetes than those who didn’t.

Those who were both overweight and consumed a 12-ounce drink per day were at a 22% higher risk of developing type-2 diabetes.

And type-2 diabetes wasn’t the only problem sugary sodas delivered.

Those who drank two 12-ounce servings per day had an 18% higher risk of having a stroke than those who only drank one serving.

According to a review of the scientific literature in a 2014 edition of the European Cardiology Review, men with type 2 diabetes are twice as likely as those without it to suffer from heart failure, while the hearts of type 2 diabetic woman are four times more likely than non-diabetic ones to fail.

A new study in the journal, PLOS ONE, now explains why people with type 2 diabetes have such a high risk of heart failure. It reveals a way to potentially protect your heart.

A group of French scientists decided to analyze previously published studies to find out whether type 2 diabetes compromises our hearts’ ability to change the rate at which they beat.

A study qualified for inclusion in their analysis only if it measured heart rate variability over at least 24 hours using electrocardiography. This involves electrodes on your skin that pick up the electrical pulses your heart emits when it beats.

They found 25 sufficiently rigorous studies with 2,932 participants altogether. The participants with type 2 diabetes had an average age of 58, compared with that of those without diabetes whose average age was 56.

Most of the studies concluded that people with type 2 diabetes had lower heart rate variability than those without diabetes did.

The researchers could even offer an educated guess on the cause of the type 2 diabetes in participants as a lack of heart rate variability.

Your heart rate is controlled by your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, two parts of your autonomic nervous system.

Generally speaking, your sympathetic nervous system promotes the release of the hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine to speed up your heart rate, while your parasympathetic nervous system stimulates the release of the hormone acetylcholine to slow it down.

According to the new study, both the sympathetic and parasympathetic activity in participants with type 2 diabetics decline, most probably because diabetes damages the nerves that lead to your heart.

This impairs your body’s ability to speed up and slow down your heart as needed, putting you at risk of heart failure.

This is, according to these scientists, one of the reasons people with type 2 diabetes have a greater risk of heart failure than the rest of the population.

Self-efficacy refers to our belief that we can achieve our goals. If we believe that we can, then we are more likely to sustain a course of behavior that leads us to our goals even through difficulties; if we believe that we cannot, then any obstacle can throw us off our required course of behavior and lead us to fail at our goals.

Those subjects whose depression levels declined were the most likely to experience an improvement in their levels of self-efficacy and in their adherence to their diabetes management program.

Those whose depression worsened experienced a decline in self-efficacy and in their ability to stick to the diabetes management program.

The finding regarding social and emotional support was confusing, as an improvement in those seemed to improve only their level of self-efficacy and not their adherence to the program and only at six months, not at 12 months.

Therefore, severely depressed people struggle more than the rest to manage their diabetes well and those who receive little social and emotional support may not feel like they are capable of maintaining self-management programs.

This is important as scientists have found that people with type 2 diabetes are more vulnerable to depression.

The key is of course to find a simple system you can use to reverse your type 2 diabetes. As you feel better, you believe that you can be cured is strengthen and so is your determination.

Researchers have long known that ED is more likely to occur in people with atherosclerosis than in people without it, but a new study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology has now confirmed this through a novel way of scanning small blood vessels for atherosclerotic plaques.

Atherosclerosis refers to the condition where arteries are narrowed or blocked, an occurrence that is usually caused by cholesterol deposits on their walls. When cholesterol plaques stick to your arterial walls, they harden or, as scientists call it, they become calcified.

Not only do they damage your arterial walls by making them brittle, but they form raised areas that eventually block your arteries, stopping the blood from passing through.

While the link between atherosclerosis and ED is well established, very few studies exist that have actually scanned penile arteries to check for atherosclerosis, primarily because they are so small that most medical imaging devices that are in larger arteries cannot be inserted into them.

In fact, the authors were not too interested in this question when they began their study; they were doing PET scans with Fluorine-18 sodium fluoride on people with prostate cancer, which is a common way to detect tumors.

But when they examined the PET scans, they saw that the Fluorine-18 sodium fluoride lit up in men’s penises where there weren’t any tumors, and a new question was formed.

Of the 437 volunteers with prostate cancer, 76.9 percent had regular ED, 13.7 percent had occasional ED, and 9.4 percent suffered no erectile dysfunction.

Those men with the worst ED had the largest portion of the penile area that was lit up on the Fluorine-18 sodium fluoride PET scans, and those without ED had almost no lit-up areas.

Further, for every increment with which their ED worsened, the lit-up areas increased.

The specific part of their penises to which the Fluorine-18 sodium fluoride responded to the arteries leading to and inside the cavernous areas where blood is meant to be during an erection.

This led them to conclude that the Fluorine-18 sodium fluoride responded to calcification in these arteries.

Think about how an erection happens. In a normal erection, penile arteries allow blood to flow into the cavernous areas of your penis, which causes your penis to expand and harden.

But if these arteries are narrowed or blocked by cholesterol, then the blood cannot enter your penis in sufficiently large amounts and it becomes impossible to achieve or maintain an erection.

This is the first time that scientists have been able to look directly at the calcification occurring in the penile arteries and, while they still need to repeat their study on men without prostate cancer, it is one of the best diagnostic tools that have been utilized towards finding the cause of ED.

Now, when someone with ED is presented at a clinic, it enables doctors to discover directly whether atherosclerosis in the penile arteries is the cause.

Then the patient can jump straight to lifestyle changes to reduce his cholesterol plaque buildup in order to treat his ED.

Almost all Taiwanese citizens use the National Health Insurance program for healthcare, so that was the perfect place to start.

From this database, they identified 10,297 people who were diagnosed with depressive disorders between the years of 2000 and 2009.
They drew the records of a further 41,188 people that did not have depressive orders with whom to compare the first group against.

After a few years, they noticed that people diagnosed with depressive disorders were 1.55 times more likely to develop vertigo than their psychologically healthy peers.

People with both depression and hyperthyroidism had a further increased risk of vertigo, which was 3.75 times more likely to occur than the healthy population.

Those with both depression and systemic lupus erythematosus together were 3.47 times more likely to develop vertigo than their healthy peers.

In other words, depression is a vertigo risk, and if it co-occurs with hyperthyroidism or systemic lupus erythematosus, the risk increases even more.

3. It is possible that your municipal or private water supply is contaminated with mercury because of all the mercury in the soil due to industrial activities, such as coal-fired power plants, gold and silver mining, fossil fuel burning, cement production, fluorescent lamps, batteries, and measuring instruments, along with the use of mercury as an agricultural antifungal substance. This latter fact also means that some non-organic fruit and vegetables that you eat can be contaminated.
An advanced water filtering system in your house may thus be a good investment.

4. Antiseptics like Mercurochrome contain it because of its antibacterial effects.

The good news is that mercury is probably not the only factor in your vertigo problems. As such, even if you can’t completely cut it out, fighting the other factors may do the trick.

In this study, the subjects were patients who were diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) between June 2014 and April 2016.

Each of the subjects was observed for at least 24 months following the first diagnosis to see whether their vertigo would return.

Their vitamin D levels were also measured at the beginning and the end of the study.

To backtrack for a second, remember that benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is caused by small calcium crystals that have accidentally fallen into the semi-circular canals inside your inner ear where they irritate the nerve hairs that send balance information to your brain.

Typical treatment involves head movements to move these crystals out of these semi-circular canals so that they will stop interfering with your balance.

After performing a range of statistical tests, the researchers found that those with low vitamin D in their blood had an 18 percent greater chance of their vertigo re-occurring after 12 months, and after 24 months, there was a 50 percent greater chance than those whose vitamin D level was found to be normal.

You can obtain vitamin D from various types of food, supplements, or directly from the sun.
