Avoid Stroke and Heart Attack - This Nut Drops Heart Attack Death Risk by 31% (While the other does nothing)

In a new study published by AHA Journals, one specific type of nut was found to drastically reduce the risk of dying from cardiovascular diseases – or, in fact, dying from any causes.

Furthermore, it is widely available, inexpensive, and delicious.

Weirdly, another type of nut that was tested in the same study had absolutely no effects.

Over the years, a number of studies have suggested that nuts are heart-healthy.

In order to test this theory, a research team examined data from two previous clinical trials that involved diabetics – especially those who were thought to be susceptible to cardiovascular diseases.

The volunteers filled out surveys describing their diet, with a particular focus on their consumption of tree nuts and peanuts, which are different types of food as a peanut is a bean that grows under the ground.

The results were dramatic.

Those who ate five or more servings of tree nuts per month were 17 percent less likely to develop heart disease. What’s more, they had a 34 percent lower risk of cardiovascular death and a 31 percent lower risk of premature death from all causes.

While other factors – such as gender, weight, and whether a person smoked tobacco – did play a role, all groups were found to benefit from nuts.

Those who increased their nut consumption after being diagnosed with diabetes experienced an 11 percent decline in their risk of heart disease and decreased their chances of dying from the condition by 25 percent.

The odds of staying heart-healthy improved by 6 percent with each additional serving (28 grams, or about one handful).

The diabetics who ate peanuts, however, did not have the same outcomes as those who binged on walnuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, pecans, macadamia nuts and pine nuts. In fact, the researchers pointed out that most of the nutrients and antioxidants were found in the nut’s skins.

But if your cholesterol is out of control, eating tree nuts may not be enough.

However, there is ONE ingredient, explained here, that’s responsible for ALL the cholesterol plaque buildup – and cutting out this one ingredient helped me to avoid stroke and heart attack as well as clearing out 93% of my clogged heart arteries…

Avoid Stroke and Heart Attack - Your Heart and Arteries Protected By These Delicious Berries

Scientists from King’s College London have just published a study in the Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics that proves that a delicious type of berries is extremely good for cardiovascular health.

These berries clean your arteries and makes them more flexible, and can therefore lower blood pressure and counteract high cholesterol level.

You can buy these berries in all supermarkets and they are yummy.

Endothelial cells are the cells that line your blood and lymph vessels on the inside.

When they work well, your blood remains liquid and your blood vessels can contract and expand as necessary, to accommodate blood flow.

However, when they are dysfunctional, your blood has a higher chance of clotting and your blood pressure would more likely be high because your blood vessels are not as pliable as they should be.

Using ten healthy men between the ages of 18 and 35, the scientists gave the subjects drinks containing 200g, 400g, or no raspberries.

They then tested the subject’s blood pressure and the flow-mediated dilation (FMD) of their brachial artery.

FMD indicates how well an artery widens when the blood flow through it increases. It is an important measure of good heart health as arteries that can widen to accommodate the increased blood flow that keeps your blood pressure down.

The participants showed a clear increase in FMD, an effect that lasted for up to 24 hours after they drank the raspberry drink.

The researchers attributed the effect to a chemical called ellagitannins, a chemical that is native to raspberries.

The reason why they thought this chemical was involved was as they could see a corresponding increase in the urolithin metabolites in their subjects’ blood streams.

The bacteria in your intestines produce urolithin metabolites when they break down the ellagitannins in raspberries.

Given the size of the effect on FMD, they concluded that raspberries could reduce our risk of cardiovascular disease by 15%, especially if the effect can be sustained over time.

Other foods rich in ellagitannins include strawberries, pomegranates, and nuts.

Eating raspberries is great. But if you really want to avoid stroke and heart attack and get your cholesterol under control, you must cut out this one ingredient (something that you didn’t even know you were consuming)…

Avoid Stroke and Heart Attack - This “Healthy” Ingredient Causes Stroke, Heart Attack, and Weight Gain

Most nutritionists will tell you this ingredient is essential and should be used in high doses.

Whole diet systems have even been designed to increase the amount of this ingredient.

And, it works in the short run to shed weight fast, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, improve type 2 diabetes, and it has many other health benefits.

However, a new study from Spain on the long-term effects of this substance completely contradicts the findings about its short-term benefits.

This ingredient, in fact, increases weight and raises your risk of dying from ALL diseases by 55% in the long haul.

What is this dangerous short-term substance? Learn the answer here in today’s article…

You might have heard of or tried popular diets like the Atkins, Paleo, and South Beach diets. They’re based partly on replacing carbohydrates with high amounts of protein.

However, a new study from Spain reveals that protein may not be the amazing diet staple it’s hyped to be.

The study team analyzed data of more than 7,000 individuals aged 55 or older. While none of them had experienced stroke or heart attack, they all suffered from type 2 diabetes or had 3 or more of the following risk factors: smoking, high blood pressure, unhealthy cholesterol levels, obesity, or a family history of heart disease.

The participants filled out questionnaires related to protein consumption for a period of five years.

Those who ate the highest percentage of protein had 90% higher risk of weight gain and 66% more risk of dying during the study period than those eating less protein.

Another Swedish research study published in the British Medical Journal suggests that women on high-protein diets were particularly at risk. Those consuming large amounts of protein were 28% more likely to develop stroke or heart attack.

In fact, for every 20 grams decrease in carbohydrate intake and 5 grams increase of protein intake, the risk of developing heart disease increased by 5%.

To make matters worse, high protein diets are also linked with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and many types of cancer.

We actually need a very little amount of protein. Most reliable studies show that 55 grams for women and 85 grams for men daily is plenty.

Almost everyone in the Western world gets an overload of their daily protein need. The problem for most people is that they do not ingest enough of the essential nutrients found in fruits and vegetables.

It’s also important to make sure you also get enough complex carbohydrates in addition to upping vegetable intake. Carbohydrates are found in whole vegetables and grains. They are the opposite of simple carbohydrates found in processed sugar and or processed wheat-based foods.

If you’re going after weight loss, there is, however, one important nutrient most people completely ignore. This substance alone will boost your weight loss like nothing else. Learn more here…

To avoid stroke and heart attack, you must lower your blood pressure. The simplest, easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally is this one here…

What is the Best Way to Permanently Eliminate Acid Reflux Symptoms?

Permanently Eliminate Acid Reflux Symptoms - An Embarrassing Acid Reflux Type (and what to do about it) - The most common form of acid reflux is called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and this is typically what people are talking about when they say acid reflux. It’s most often accompanied by horrible heartburn. But there is another type of acid reflux, which is lesser known but might be even more embarrassing.

Discover How, Five Minutes from NOW, Your Acid Reflux Can Be Totally Gone & You’ll Feel Great Night and Day

Permanently Eliminate Acid Reflux Symptoms - An Embarrassing Acid Reflux Type (and what to do about it)

The most common form of acid reflux is called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and this is typically what people are talking about when they say acid reflux.

It’s most often accompanied by horrible heartburn.

But there is another type of acid reflux, which is lesser known but might be even more embarrassing. You may not even realize you have this one.

If you have rumination syndrome, it means that you involuntarily and effortlessly regurgitate the contents of your stomach during and after a meal in near chewable form.

It happens because of an involuntary contraction of your abdominal muscles and would happen more often than not when the valve between your esophagus and stomach is weak, and thereby failing to close properly while you are not swallowing, as it is meant to do.

Because throwing up almost immediately after eating is such a toddler thing to do, many people are ashamed of it and do not report rumination syndrome, making it almost impossible for researchers to estimate its prevalence in the general population.

In 2002, a survey of 4,500 Australian adults in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found that just below one percent of adults suffer from it.

Another survey in the Spanish population in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology found that around seven or eight percent of people with fibromyalgia or eating disorders struggle with the rumination syndrome.

While it sounds serious, it is actually less grave than many other forms of acid reflux, because you regurgitate the food before it starts digesting and before your stomach soaks it in acid.

This means that it is less acidic than the stomach content that flows back through your esophagus in many other conditions.

What does make it serious, however, is that researchers have discovered that people with this condition also tend to have anxiety, depression, and near permanent constipation.

Unlike normal vomiting, the regurgitation in this condition is generally automatic, without involving the type of muscle spasms present in vomiting.

Besides the regurgitation itself, symptoms include abdominal pain, the feeling of satiety, nausea, constipation, bad breath, and unintentional weight loss.

Since regurgitated stomach contents sometime include acid, you could also experience some tooth decay.

It is surprisingly easy to treat, with doctors reporting that almost 90 percent of their adult patients responding positively to treatment.

If you practice breathing using your diaphragm, especially during and after mealtimes, it will counteract the regurgitation reflex. It works by preventing abdominal muscle contractions that would propel the food back into your esophagus and your mouth.

Permanently Eliminate Acid Reflux Symptoms - Acid Reflux’s Most Dangerous Consequence

The constant pain, having to deny yourself all the goodies your stomach can’t handle, along with suffering the side effects of the medications that don’t even work in the first place.

And then the night comes…and oh boy!

But now, a study published in the Journal Sleep Medicine has revealed what might be the direst consequence of acid reflux, and it is one that you might have never connected it to previously.

4,882 women answered questions about night time acid reflux.

Women with nocturnal acid reflux were around three times more likely to suffer from daytime sleepiness when compared to the general population.
In addition, they were also more likely to involuntarily fall asleep during the day.

And daytime sleepiness is not a joking matter.

Operating a car or any form of heavy machinery or simply walking down steps at home while drowsy or tired can be more life-threatening than doing this drunk. Not to mention how it will generally rob you of any nice life experiences along the way.

But there is more to the story…

Another study in the Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility in 2010 warned that the relationship between acid reflux and sleep might work in both directions.

You see, sleep could also lead to more acid reflux in people that are vulnerable to it because while you sleep, the mechanisms that your body uses to clear acid from your esophagus aren’t working very well.

For example, as you salivate less, your swallow mechanism is impaired, and your esophagus is static without the movements that it uses to align itself with your stomach during the day.

Reversing your acid reflux naturally is therefore more crucial than ever.
But how do you do this?

Permanently Eliminate Acid Reflux Symptoms - 93% Acid Reflux Cases Cured Naturally (new study)

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) has always posed a big problem for people who suffer from it, as proton pump inhibitors, the most common drug treatment, have serious and potentially deadly side effects.

Now a new study has proven an old, natural method has proven extremely effective for curing acid reflux and GERD. In fact, up to 93% of participants reported complete relief.

To respond to this dilemma, Chinese researchers decided to test the effectiveness of acupuncture as a treatment of GERD. They published their findings in the Journal Zhen Ci Yan Jiu (or Acupuncture research when translated).

They recruited 58 people diagnosed with GERD conditions that were so bad that they could not sleep at night.

They then divided them into two groups: 28 who received acupuncture and 30 who received medication.

The medication group took a proton pump inhibitor twice a day for 8 weeks.

Subjects in the acupuncture group were punctured with needles to all the spots below the spinous processes, from T 3 to T 12, once every alternate day, for eight weeks.

The subjects were also given three questionnaires to test the severity of their symptoms before and after the treatment.

1. The Reflux Diagnostic Questionnaire for heartburn, abdominal pain, acid reflux, and food regurgitation.

2. The GERD symptom scale for digestion, reflux, food regurgitation, pain, cardiovascular effects, and so forth.

3. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index for sleep duration and quality.
After the treatments, both groups had experienced significant relief from their previous state.

Furthermore, it could be seen that acupuncture group improved a lot more on all three-measurement questionnaires when compared to the group that took medication.

1. On the Reflux Diagnostic Questionnaire, 43.3% of the medicated subjects and 71.4% of the acupuncture subjects reported being completely cured or experiencing a massive improvement.

2. On the GERD symptom scale, 56.7% of the medicated subjects and 89.3% of the acupuncture subjects reported being completely cured or experiencing a big improvement.

3. On the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, 60% of the medicated subjects and 92.9% of the acupuncture subjects reported being completely cured or experiencing a massive improvement.

If this study is right, then it would mean that acupuncture is a substantially better treatment for acid reflux than dangerous proton pump inhibitors.

Reverse Plaque Buildup in Your Arteries - Statins Causes This Deadly Disease (A new study)

Statins are praised by some medical people as the answer to all cardiovascular problems. Some even want to put it in our tap water.

But a new study published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology has given a stern warning about the use of statins.

Apparently, statins users were found to be 38% more likely to develop a specific, extremely dangerous disease; one that can actually cause a stroke and heart attacks (which statins are supposed to prevent.)

The researchers collected the medical information of 9,535 people who participated in the Rotterdam Study between 1997 and 2012.

The participants had an average age of 64.3, and some of them were on statins at the beginning of the study or started to use it at a later stage.

During the 15 years for which they were observed, it was clear that statin users had a 38 percent greater chance of causing the development of type-2 diabetes than those who had never taken statins.

After noticing this finding, the scientists went further and investigated the specific metabolic characteristics of their statin takers.

Compared with non-statin takers, they also had higher fasting insulin levels and insulin resistance scores, meaning that even those who had not yet developed full-blown diabetes were at high risk of it.

Diabetics are at much higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (which is exactly what statins were supposed to protect you from). This may be one of the reasons why lowering cholesterol with statins has never been shown to reduce the risk of dying from a stroke or heart attack.

A better approach to reverse plaque buildup in your arteries and tackle cholesterol would be to cut out this one ingredient that is responsible for ALL cholesterol plaque buildup in your arteries…

And if you already suffer type-2 diabetes, learn how to reverse it in three simple steps…

Reverse Plaque Buildup in Your Arteries - High Cholesterol – Avoid This “Healthier” Alternative

We’re all guilty of some bad lifestyle habits from time to time. And when we realize this, we usually try to look for healthier alternatives.

When it comes to your cardiovascular health, this may not always be the idea.

There is a specific bad habit often related to high blood pressure and cholesterol – however, according to a new study published in the latest edition of the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, the healthy alternative may be no better.

An e-cigarette is an electronic cigarette, a battery-powered device that heats a liquid to generate an aerosol that the user would inhale. It is meant to simulate smoking and thereby wean smokers from their smoking habit.

The liquids they heat are typically made of nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerine, water, and a variety of flavorings.

The authors of the new study were interested in the effects of the heated flavorings on endothelial cells, which are the cells that line your blood vessels.

They tested nine of the most popular flavorings on both donated endothelial cells and on commercially available human aortic endothelial cells in the laboratory and found that all the flavorings had a tendency to harm these cells.

Mint, clove, vanilla, cinnamon, and burnt flavoring caused higher levels of an inflammatory marker, called interleukin-6 (IL-6), and lowered levels of nitric oxide. These two specific changes put us at great risk of heart attack and stroke.

Clove and vanilla increased oxidant stress in the cells.

All nine of these flavorings caused cell death when applied to the cells in high amounts.

Cinnamon, clove, strawberry, banana, and spicy cooling caused cell death, even in low amounts.

Strawberry caused cell death at very low levels.

So, even if e-cigarettes may (or may not) be better than tobacco, you would only be exchanging one bad habit for another.

What is the Best Way to Treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

Treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea - The Easiest Way to Separate Snorers from Sleep Apneas

Most people with sleep apnea go undiagnosed for a prolonged period of time… and sometimes they are never diagnosed. This is not good as it is a life-threatening disease in many different ways.

If you snore loudly, it’s very likely you suffer sleep apnea – even if you have never been diagnosed. In fact, most sleep experts treat snoring as a case of mild sleep apnea or undiagnosed sleep apnea.

The problem is that to diagnose sleep apnea properly, people have to spend a night in a sleep lab and would be plugged up several wires and tubes for the entire night. Not a very pleasant experience.

Until now that is! A new study has revealed a simpler way to diagnose sleep apnea 98% of the time. All it takes is a little device that you already carry with you everywhere.

A team of Thai scientists wondered whether it was possible to record sleeping sounds and diagnose snoring and sleep apnea severity from it.
They presented their study at the 2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON).

To do this, they first recruited 49 study subjects, and asked them to sleep in the laboratory for one night in order to undergo a multichannel polysomnography assessment.

This included an EEG of the subject’s brain activity, their heart rhythm, their muscle activity, their eye movements, their blood oxygen, their chest wall, upper abdominal wall movements, and so forth.

With their polysomnograms results in hand, the researchers categorized them into four groups: 24 people that suffered from severe sleep apnea, 10 people who had moderate apnea, seven with mild apnea, and eight snorers with no sleep apnea.

During the sleep study in the laboratory, the researchers also recorded their subject’s snoring sounds and identified 33 different common snoring sounds.

Through the use of statistical measures, they identified the 10 most common sounds and investigated the precision in which they could predict which group each subject belonged to.

They found that they could accurately separate sleep apnea patients from snorers with only one of the sounds.

They could also divide their subjects into the four groups with an accuracy of 87.8 percent, which may not be as high as a whole sleep study, but would be more than sufficient for a preliminary diagnosis.

So, the future of diagnosing sleep apnea is not far away from becoming a simple phone app that records your snoring to send over to the sleep doctor.

Treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea -#1 Cause of Sleep Apnea and Snoring Discovered

A new study published in the journal Pulse reveals the single biggest cause of snoring and sleep apnea.

Not only does this factor press on your throat and strangle you while you sleep, it also changes the shape of your breathing passages, causing those dreaded night terrors.

According to this review study, approximately 80% of people with sleep apnea were found to be overweight or obese.

This is no big surprise but how it causes it was shocking.

Tomographic scans revealed that obesity causes an increased in the amount of fat stored in your pharyngeal area – this is the part of your throat that is behind your mouth and above your esophagus. Your nasal passages also generally open here to facilitate smooth breathing.

If you are obese, then the fat deposits in this area block your airway and thereby narrow it.

This does not mean that you cannot breathe, but it means that breathing would be more labored and shallow.

But here is the shocking part…

When your body deposits fat in or around your airway, it actually changes the shape of your airway without necessarily narrowing it.

Millions of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans have revealed that obese people who snore or suffer sleep apnea have airways that are oval, with long axes that stretch from the back to the front of their bodies.

If you’re overweight or obese and suffer from sleep apnea (or snore loudly), then it’s very important to lose weight to regain the natural shape of your breathing passages.

But there is another thing that’s even more important.

You need to strengthen the muscles around your breathing passages to support them, in order to keep them in healthy shape in both the day and night.

Treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea - Snoring Causes Alzheimer’s (new study)

New Mayo Clinic research has some terrifying results for those who snore.
It’s not been published yet, but it will be at the American Academy of Neurology’s 71st Annual Meeting in Philadelphia in the middle of the year.

We have, however, obtained their preliminary results regarding the connection between snoring and Alzheimer’s.

And it won’t be soon enough, because you absolutely must take action today!

The study first performed positron emission tomography brain scans on patients to discover whether there was a buildup of the protein tau in the entorhinal cortex.

Tau plaques are usually present in people with Alzheimer’s disease and the entorhinal cortex is one of the most likely parts of the brain that would collect it. This is the part of the brain responsible for different types of memories and the perception of space and time.

The researchers then asked their participant’s partners whether they had noticed breathing pauses during the night.

This is quite a good way to check for sleep apnea, as people with this breathing disorder would involuntarily take multiple breathing pauses per hour that are at least 10 seconds in length. Your bed partner is thus likely to have noticed these pauses over a few months.

When comparing the brains of those with and without sleep apnea, they found tau buildups in the entorhinal cortices of only the sleep apnea sufferers.

Even after they controlled for other factors that are known to affect the buildup of tau in the brain, such as educational factors, age, sex, history of cardiovascular diseases, and so forth, they still found that sleep apnea sufferers had 4.5 percent more tau than the non-sufferers.

Interestingly, I have been teaching how to improve one’s brain health for years through the use of simple exercises that will load your brain with oxygen. Till recently, there were very few studies to back me up scientifically. Learn more about the brain booster exercises here…

80 percent of those who have sleep apnea never get diagnosed, and this is serious because it’s a dangerous condition that has been proven to be the cause a series of fatal diseases – now including Alzheimer’s.

Loud snoring is almost always an indicator of some level of sleep apnea as it’s caused by blockages in the breathing passages.
