Feeling Terribly Lightheaded and Dizzy? Here are 5 Reasons Why

Feeling terribly lightheaded and dizziness or experiencing vertigo from time to time is most likely not a serious issue. Often it can be treated by a glass of water or sitting down for a minute.

But it can also be a sign of lethal diseases building up that need to be treated.

That’s why today I’m going to tell you about 5 causes of feeling terribly lightheaded and dizziness that you can check off today.

There are many severity levels of lightheadedness and dizziness.

According to the health experts at Harvard, lightheadedness refers to the feeling that your head is weightless and that you might faint, while dizziness refers to the feeling that the room around you is moving. In most cases, these feelings occur together.

Some of the most common causes of feeling terribly lightheaded and dizziness include the following:

#1 - Dehydration: According to medical experts consulted by the American Association for Retired Persons, dizziness due to dehydration results because your brain literally lacks sufficient nutrient-filled blood to keep it going. An increase in body temperature and breathing rate dilate the blood vessels in your brain, with insufficient blood to fill them up.

This often happens after exercise, when your body prioritizes your muscles instead of your brain for blood supply. Drink water, lie down, and the dizziness should pass.

#2 - Low blood pressure: Unfortunately, you will have to know the cause of the low blood pressure to remove the dizziness. It could be prolonged bed rest, pregnancy, dehydration, alcohol, diuretics, blood pressure medication, antipsychotic drugs, low heart rate, an underactive thyroid, low blood sugar, or a wide range of other things best left to your doctor to diagnose.

#3 - Prescription Drugs: The US Food and Drug Administration rejects drugs only if their side effects are worse than the benefits, or if they are completely ineffective. Since dizziness is not typically life-threatening, most drugs that can cause dizziness are widely sold.

According to a 2013 study published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics, these include anti-convulsants, blood pressure medication, antihistamines, antibiotics, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anti-inflammatories. Since the dizziness will continue for as long as you take the drug, move carefully to avoid falling, or else halt the drug taking.

#4 - Low blood sugar: (also called low blood glucose or hypoglycemia) Your brain desperately needs glucose for energy. If you are suddenly ravenously hungry, or if you struggle with mood swings, lack of energy, shakes, sweating, confusion, or blurry vision, grab a piece of fruit, a bowl of oats, or a slice of wholegrain bread to provide your body with the glucose it craves.

#5 - Stroke: According to the American Family Physician, this is easy for a doctor to rule out or confirm once you are in the hospital, because other neurological symptoms are normally present.

The American Stroke Association recommends that you exclude one-sided facial drooping by examining whether your smile remains even, that you check for arm weakness by lifting both arms and confirming that neither drifts downward, and by verifying that your speech is not slurred by speaking or reading a few difficult sentences.

What is the Best Way to Permanently Curing Vertigo?

Real Cause and the Way to Permanently Curing Vertigo “Discovered” in a New Study - Scientists at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine have just formulated a reliable theory, based on extensive tests, that explains all aspects of vertigo. Real Cause and the Way to Permanently Curing Vertigo “Discovered” in a New Study

Scientists at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine have just formulated a reliable theory, based on extensive tests, that explains all aspects of vertigo.

The bad news: untreated, vertigo can become lethal.

The good news: based on their theory, vertigo can be completely cured permanently. And it’s actually quite easy to do.

Meniere’s disease is the most common cause of severe vertigo.

These new research reveals that it occurs when two other conditions are present: endolymphatic hydrops and cardiovascular disease risk factors.
Let us start with the former.

Endolymphatic hydrops is a disorder of your inner ear. Inside your inner ear, there is a substance called endolymph fluid that fills the hearing and balance structures of your year and thereby facilitate these two senses.

If the composition, texture, or quantity of this fluid changes, because of a blow to the head or an ear infection, for example, you may experience a temporary loss in balance and hearing.

During severe attacks of Meniere’s disease, there is a build-up of endolymph fluid inside your inner ear, which cuts off some blood flow to your ear and is can disturb your balance and hearing.

But the Colorado researchers have now discovered that young, healthy people often experience no such symptoms when the endolymph fluid builds up.

Something else must happen in addition to the build-up of endolymph fluid to produce Meniere’s disease.

This missing condition is any cardiovascular risk factor that normally cuts blood off from your other organs, like elevated blood pressure, cholesterol, or blood clots.

When a cardiovascular condition is missing, the accumulation of endolymph fluid cuts off some blood to the inner ear, but not all of it.
That is why the symptoms are not as severe.

But when a cardiovascular condition is also present, the accumulation of fluid together with the cardiovascular condition cut off too much blood for hearing and balance to continue undisturbed.

When the inner ear tissues that sense motion and sound waves are starved of blood and nutrients in this way, they can no longer send these signals to the brain, and your hearing and balance perceptions vanish.

This condition is not only irritating, it is potentially permanently disabling. Every time that blood flow is cut off from inner ear tissue, microscopic portions of the tissue die.

As a result, Meniere’s disease is a progressive disease that results in increasingly bad hearing loss and vertigo. The longer it continues, the greater the risk of a permanent loss of hearing and balance.

Consequently, the Colorado scientists believe that in order to permanently curing vertigo, the cardiovascular risk factors should be treated to prevent Meniere’s disease and its eventual permanently disabling consequences.

Interestingly, I’ve been preaching for years that vertigo is mostly caused by lack of blood flow to the systems for balance the head. Now it has been proven scientifically.

And as of cardiovascular diseases, here are two simple solutions:

How to Identify Vertigo Triggers and Warn Against Vertigo Attack?

University of Southampton researchers recently decided to do what so many scientists often overlook; namely, obtain an understanding of the disease from the patient’s perspective.

In this case, they were interested in Meniere’s disease, the most common cause of vertigo. They published their findings in the journal Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics.

They interviewed 20 members of a British self-help group, called the Meniere’s Society, to identify the most common vertigo triggers and coping mechanisms.

Most of the interviewees expressed the frustration that they could identify only very few, inconsistent triggers. But looking at the big picture, researchers could nevertheless identify some clear patterns.

Some of the most common physiological vertigo triggers were identified to be fast head movements, the action of standing up too fast, fatigue, physical stress, and the action of reading.

The number one psychological trigger was thought to be emotional stress of different intensities, from the death of a loved one to work overload.

While doctors normally recommend reducing salt, caffeine, and alcohol intake, there was no dietary item that the participants consistently identified as contributing to their attacks.

Consequently, some of them followed the doctors’ dietary advice, while many others ignored it because of the belief that it made no difference.
In general, however, they did agree that they were more likely to have attacks around their mealtimes.

Most interviewees reported experiencing most of their attacks during the morning hours, especially in the first hour or two after getting out of bed.
They also agreed that the severity of their attacks increased with an increase in intensity, number, or duration of the triggers.

For example, writing in a slow-moving vehicle caused some dizziness, while riding in a fast-moving one caused serious vertigo.

Or, being confronted with one trigger at a time caused only slight dizziness or no symptoms at all, while two or three simultaneous triggers caused mayhem. Reading while eating inside a moving vehicle, for instance.

Prevent All Types of Vertigo - Vertigo Healed Using This Free Vitamin

The journal Medical Hypotheses recently published an interesting study by Austrian and American researchers proving that people who suffer from a specific vitamin deficiency were more likely to have vertigo than their peers.

When they supplemented these vertigo sufferers with this vitamin, their vertigo was permanently cured.

What’s more, this vitamin is very cheap, sometimes even free, and can be found in all health food stores and pharmacies.

The authors noticed two conclusions from the already existing literature. First, many studies have found that people with vitamin D deficiency have an increased risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures.

Second, many other studies have shown that people with vertigo are more likely to have osteoporosis and bone fractures than the rest of the population.

As a result, they wondered whether there was a direct relationship between vitamin D deficiency and vertigo.

They identified 18 patients with vertigo at an Austrian hospital and tested their vitamin D levels. They then put these vertigo patients on a vitamin D supplement and, during a follow-up visit, tested their vertigo again.

Vitamin D levels in your body are measured as the amount of circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D or 25(OH) D in short. Ideally, you should have at least 30 ng/mL (nanograms per milliliter of blood) of 25(OH)D.

The study subjects experiencing their first episode of vertigo had an average of 27 ng/mL (just below the required minimum), while those with severe and recurrent episodes of vertigo averaged 14 ng/mL, which is less than half of the required minimum.

After they gave the vertigo sufferers a vitamin D supplement, none of these vertigo sufferers experienced another episode for the next eight months until the study was published.

For vertigo patients, there are three ways to obtain enough vitamin D in order to prevent vertigo:

#1- The easiest way is to allow 10 to 20 minutes per day of direct sunlight on your skin. Your arms and legs are the best locations, as the skin is thicker and less sensitive than that of your face. Less than 10 minutes is too little, more than 20 minutes is too much.

#2 - If you live in the northern hemisphere where bright, direct sunlight is in short supply during the long winters, you can buy a vitamin D supplement. The Institutes of Medicine (IOM) recommends around 600 mg per day for adults and 800 mg for seniors above age 71.

#3 - Many foods are fortified with vitamin D. Look out for cereal and bread with added vitamin D. Many types of seafood are also high in vitamin D.

Cure Vertigo and Prevent Stroke: Is Your Dizziness a Sign of a Stroke?

If you experience a sudden onslaught of vertigo or dizziness that then passes, chances are you were suffering something called a mini-stroke.

A mini-stroke itself is relatively harmless, but because they’re almost always followed up by more mini-strokes and often a final big stroke, this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

But most of the time, symptoms like vertigo and dizziness do not necessarily indicate a stroke.

A Canadian research team and an American MD/Professor had an interesting debate in the January 2016 edition of the Annals of Neurology.

The Canadian team thought that too few people who visit the ER with dizziness go on to have strokes later, while the American professor believed that too many of them did.

This is obviously important, because if many people who complain of dizziness are suffering a light stroke and go on to suffer a more severe one, ER physicians will have to start using MRI brain scans on a lot more people who visit the ER with vertigo and dizziness.

This can become incredibly expensive, as millions of people visit the ER with dizziness or vertigo every year. In fact, since MRIs are so expensive, it could completely implode some countries’ medical systems.

The Canadian researchers examined the information of all patients discharged from ER departments in Ontario between 2006 and 2011 with a diagnosis of peripheral vestibular disorder.

Peripheral vestibular disorder is the name for a variety of inner ear and vestibular nerve conditions. It is the most common cause of vertigo.

They checked whether these people suffered a stroke within 30 days after their discharge from the ER.

Of the 41,794 vertigo patients, 76 (0.18%) had a stroke within the first 30 days of their ER visit. In other words, they probably had a light stroke, not peripheral vestibular disorder.

Those diagnosed with peripheral vestibular disorder were 9.3 times more likely to have a stroke in the next 30 days than similar people without vertigo.

But the Canadian team believed that, 0.18% (less than 2 in a thousand) of incorrect diagnoses are simply too low to start implementing widespread and expensive MRI scans on everyone presenting at the ER with dizziness.

In the same journal, Dr. David E. Newman-Toker from Johns Hopkins University used statistics previously unearthed by American researchers showing that three to five percent of people who visit the ER with dizziness have had, or will still have, a stroke.

Accordingly, he thinks more should be done to reduce or eliminate these mistaken diagnoses.

He argued that, with 4.4 million Americans visiting the ER annually with dizziness, three to five percent of mistaken diagnoses translates to 120,000 to 200,000 missed strokes per year.

Yikes! In fact, even 0.18% is 7,920 missed strokes per year, which is a lot.

You Can Reverse Vertigo Naturally Using This Method

Even if vertigo and dizziness is the number one complaint doctors receive, there is still no way to reverse vertigo naturally or by any means using the traditional treatment.

Chiropractors and physical therapists have been able to help with some simple forms of vertigo. But till now, one of the most difficult form of vertigo and dizziness has been absolutely non-treatable.

A new study, however, reveals a solution that works for almost everyone to reverse vertigo naturally. And it’s so simple that you may be complication-free within days.

Meniere’s disease is an inner ear disorder with symptoms that range from vertigo to tinnitus to hearing loss.

Unlike the most common form of vertigo that is caused by crystals that fall into your inner ear canals, Meniere’s disease is considered to be chronic and incurable. The type of head movements that cure common vertigo by dislodging crystals from your ear canals do not work here.

In the June 2016 edition of the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research, a doctor/chiropractor described his research on 300 Meniere’s disease patients.

After various tests, he discovered that 90 percent of them were experiencing a misalignment of their atlas vertebrae.

Like titan Atlas whose job it was to hold up the heavens, your atlas vertebra is the topmost vertebra of your backbone, the one that connects with the base of your skull, holds up your head, and allows it to turn and nod.

It is carefully aligned with your spinal cord and your occipital bone, which is the bone at the back and base of your skull that encircles your spinal cord.

This alignment is neurologically vital, as your brainstem connects to your atlas vertebra. If these alignments are disturbed, there is pressure on your brainstem, and your brainstem controls everything from breathing and sleep to balance.

So what causes misalignment between atlas and your spinal cord and occipital bone?

Physically, the atlas vertebra is a ring with a few arches. These arches need to stay aligned with each other to keep your head 100 percent straight on your atlas.

According to this study, whiplash injuries and other blows to the head wreck the positions of these arches so that the bottom and back arches fall out of alignment with each other, pull your head and atlas out of alignment with each other, and put pressure on your brainstem.

Before chiropractic treatment on the atlas vertebra, the doctor asked the participants to rate the severity of their vertigo on a 10-point scale, with 10 being utterly unbearable.

The average score before the treatment was 8.5. This dropped to 3.0 with in the first six weeks, 2.0 after one year, and less than 1.0 after three years of treatment.

Where the atlas alignment remained in place, the average score was 0.8 after six years. The treatment succeeded for 97 percent of patients.

Thus, it seems as if upper cervical chiropractic treatment can cure the vertigo caused by Meniere’s disease.

Interestingly, this is exactly what our vertigo and dizziness exercises do.

Instead of using chiropractic adjustments, you align your neck and head position yourself using these simple exercises to reverse vertigo naturally.

They also load your brain with oxygen, because a lack of oxygen is another common cause of vertigo and dizziness.
