What It Takes to Drop Cholesterol Level Without Diet or Workout Change?

High cholesterol is normally assumed to be affected mostly by your diet and physical activity, and that is true (sometimes).

But a new study in the journal Lipids in Health and Disease now shows there is another factor that has a much stronger impact on your cholesterol.

And this factor that can drop cholesterol level maybe more fun to manage than your diet.

The study authors analyzed the data of 1,054 people collected by Midlife in the U.S.. They were between the ages 34 and 84, with 55% being female.

They compared their psychological wellbeing with their cholesterol levels over a period of 10 years.

The concept of psychological wellbeing they used was not depression or anxiety or the absence of these, but rather a more advanced concept that included:

– personal independence and freedom,
– personal growth,
– healthy relationships,
– the feeling of controlling the environment,
– the feeling of having a purpose in life,
– and self-acceptance.

Interestingly, they found that most adults either enjoyed persistent psychological wellbeing or languished persistently without it over time.

The psychologically comfortable people had higher levels of HDL cholesterol (the good type) and lower levels of triglycerides (fat) than those in poor psychological health.

They did, however, not find any relationship between psychology and LDL cholesterol (the bad type), with both groups scoring roughly the same on it.

This means that psychological wellbeing can help us predict HDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

This shows why it is so important to feel like we are in control of our lives, to feel that our lives are meaningful and satisfying, and to like ourselves.

So, if we try to improve those factors, we can improve our cholesterol level at the same time. And who wouldn’t enjoy doing that if they can drop cholesterol level.

This post is from the Oxidized Cholesterol Strategy Program created by Scott Davis. He once suffered from High Cholesterol so much that he even had a severe heart attack. This is what essentially led him to finding healthier alternatives to conventional medication.

The program is highly focused on eliminating one simple ingredient you consume every single day, an ingredient you had no idea you were even putting it your body.  What’s scary is that this ingredient isn’t even listed on the label of many common food choices. It’s terrifying stuff! So, this system starts you off with valuable information about this one simple ingredient, what it’s doing to your body and what you can do about it. But it doesn’t end there.

The Oxidized Cholesterol Strategy goes on to teach you a wide range of diet, fitness, lifestyle, exercise, sleep and eating tips that will help you maximize your results. More importantly, these tips will help completely clean out any plaque build-up in your arteries.

Are There Really Direct Link Between Cholesterol Level and Death?

Cholesterol level has long been almost equalled to heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular death risks.

But, a new study in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology proves this completely wrong.

It’s actually another fat found in your blood stream that matters. And unlike cholesterol, you want this fat level to be as high as possible.

Researchers used 2,500 children of the participants of the original Framingham study that started in 1948. They were all around 66 years old and free of cardiovascular disease at the beginning of the study.

Their blood was tested for both cholesterol and omega-3 and they were then followed to see which of them would die by age 73.

Interestingly, the researchers could not pick up a relationship between cholesterol level and death, not even death from cardiovascular causes.

Those with high cholesterol level and those with low cholesterol level died in approximately the same numbers and suffered the same number of cardiovascular events.

People with high omega-3, were on the other hand 34% less likely to die of any cause and were 39% less likely to suffer a cardiovascular event like a stroke.

Oddly, omega-3 seemed to have the strongest influence on whether people would die of non-cancer, non-cardiovascular disease causes, showing that omega-3 has health effects that go far beyond cardiovascular health.

So instead of measuring our total cholesterol, doctors should rather measure our total omega-3 levels if they want to know how healthy we are.

So why is this so?

You see, omega-3 is the number one destroyer of inflammation and oxidization. And it’s especially powerful to fight off oxidized cholesterol.

And oxidized cholesterol is the only type that builds up as plaque in your heart arteries.

What Makes this Worst Unknown High Blood Pressure Cause?

What Makes this Worst Unknown High Blood Pressure Cause? What Did Scientists Discover about this High Blood Pressure Cause? What Conclusion Did Scientists Reach about this High Blood Pressure Cause?

Many people are well aware that bad diet, lack of exercise and being overweight can cause high blood pressure. But there is this major high blood pressure cause, that is hardly mentioned and yet has higher chances than being overweight in causing high blood pressure. Read on to find out more.

Environment Causes High Blood Pressure – Worse Than Obesity

Lifestyles, such as bad diet and lack of exercise are the most common culprits causing high blood pressure. Being overweight is on the top of that list.

But a new study from Europe has found another high blood pressure cause. This one is even more serious than obesity and growing even faster.

What Did Scientists Discover about this High Blood Pressure Cause?

It’s in your environment, but probably differently than you think. And in one way or another, you’re effected by it every day.

The 20th century was marked by a huge relocation of people from rural to urban areas. Building cities with millions and even tens of millions of residents.

The air pollution created inside these mass-populated cities is staggering, and as it now turns out, extremely unhealthy.

A large team of European scientists decided to study the effects of long-term exposure to air pollution on blood pressure.

They first identified 41,072 people who lived in various areas in Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

For each area, they calculated its average amount of air and noise pollution.

At the beginning of the study, all participants had normal blood pressure. The researchers wanted to know how many would develop high blood pressure during the subsequent five to nine years while living in these areas.

Of the 6,207 whose blood pressure increased to high levels during the study, the majority lived in areas with seriously polluted air.

After excluding alcohol use, smoking, and other factors that could influence the results, the scientists concluded that the participants’ risk of developing high blood pressure increased by 22 percent for every five micrograms per cubic meter of particulate matter with a size of less than 2.5 micrometers.

To put this a great deal more simply, the more small particles of sulfate, black carbon, mineral dust, ammonia, and other pollutants in the air, the greater the chance that your blood pressure will be too high.

What Conclusion Did Scientists Reach about this High Blood Pressure Cause?

The risk posed by pollution was even stronger than posed by obesity.

Even if you live in a small town or city and are not exposed to the same level of pollution as city people, we can still draw the conclusion that you’re effected, just by the general increase of pollution in the air.

But what’s a person to do if you live in a big city and don’t want to move? Or if you have high blood pressure despite living in a cleaner environment?

How Allergy Makes this Blood Pressure Drug Terribly Deadly?

This is what you should know if you are taking this type of blood pressure drug - ACE inhibitors.

The simple act of having a healthy snack can become dangerous due to a strange allergy risk that is newly discovered among one of the most widely prescribed high blood pressure medications, according to a new study.

Tingling, swelling, and itching in a most unfortunate place can erupt after the use of this popular blood pressure drug, prescribed to millions worldwide for ‘controlling’ blood pressure.

High blood pressure is the most common illness in the world, according to the World Health Organization. It stands to reason that the medications used to treat the condition, then, would be among the most frequently prescribed as well.

Research from IMS Health projects that this popular blood pressure drug -ACE Inhibitor Lisinopril is among the top 5 most commonly prescribed medications.

ACE inhibitors have a number of reactions in the body. Some of the reactions do bring down blood pressure, but other reactions are the source of the very long list of known side effects. Alarmingly, though, some side effects of this commonly used blood pressure drug are still being uncovered.

In research presented recently at the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, people who take ACE Inhibitors are at much higher risk of developing severe allergic reactions to otherwise benign stimuli.

Even for people who have been on the medications for a long period of time, side effects can crop up out of nowhere. People who already have mild allergies or are predisposed to certain conditions are at much greater risk of developing problems, and they can be much more severe.

For example, a condition known as oral allergy syndrome, in which the body confuses certain proteins in foods as foreign allergens, is typically just a nuisance.

However, when this condition occurs in people who are taking ACE Inhibitors, the allergic response can be as severe as an anaphylactic reaction, requiring emergency treatment.

And the reaction can develop completely out of the blue, even in people who have been taking the blood pressure drug for years.

It is very important to know what can be the triggers for heart attack so that more deaths can be prevented. This is because heart attack is the number one cause of death in almost every country of the Western world.

We all know someone who has suffered one, and in the back of our heads we all worry about someday having a heart attack ourselves.

You’re probably aware of many things you can do to minimize the risk of developing heart attack: eat healthy, exercise moderately, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and many other steps.

But did you know that heart attack occurs more frequently at a certain time of the day and during some specific activities? This is the time that you should pay extra attention to how you feel.

That’s why in today’s feature article I’m going to tell you about 6 scary times for heart attack:

Triggers for Heart Attack #1 - Early bird doesn’t just get the worm

A recent Harvard study revealed that your risk of heart attack rises 40% in the morning. You see, morning is the time when your body wants you to be most active.

Therefore, it loads you with adrenaline and other stress hormones, which increases your blood pressure, creates demand for oxygen and forces your heart to beat harder.

Since most of us don’t drink much water during the night, your body is also partly dehydrated, which makes your blood thicker and harder to pump. All this puts strain on the heart.

One of the healthiest things you can do is drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning. Also, try to schedule things so you can take your time the first hour you’re awake without stress.

Triggers for Heart Attack #2 - Another Manic Monday

As if the morning weren’t bad enough, Monday mornings are even riskier. An alarming 20% more heart attacks occur on Monday mornings than other days of the week.

This is, of course due to the stress of going back to work after the weekend. Not only the emotional part but also the shift in schedule.

If possible, try to wake up the same time every day of the week. Staying up late and then sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday morning and then having to wake up early on Monday puts quite a strain on your system.

Choosing a career where you love waking up to go to work is extremely helpful as well.

Triggers for Heart Attack #3 - Stuffing your mouth stuffs your heart

The plaque in the arteries that causes heart attack develops over many years. One meal is not going to suddenly cause narrow arteries.

However, studies have shown that big, high fat, high calorie meals put strain on your system that constricts blood vessels and can trigger heart attack.

Indulging yourself in good food occasionally doesn’t have to be harmful. Just keep the portion sizes moderate and eat slowly.

Triggers for Heart Attack #4 - On the Potty

Moving the bowels is one of the most private things we can do. Most of us want to have privacy and not be distracted. And we definitely don’t want to experience heart attack at that point.

Bowel movements, however (especially if you’re constipated), put extreme pressure on the chest, slowing down the blood returning back to the heart.

To lower your risk of heart attack on the potty, make sure you eat enough fiber (at least 25 gr/day), drink enough water, and avoid stress.

Triggers for Heart Attack #5 - Not all exercises are created equal

Exercising is one of the key elements to improve cardiovascular health and avoid heart attack. Too much, too quickly, however, can have the opposite effect.

If you’re not in good physical shape, begin slowly with walking and light jogging. As your health and stamina improve, you can, and should, engage in more vigorous exercises to strengthen your heart.

Sex is, in the same way, extremely heart-healthy as long as the intensity is not more than the body can handle.

Triggers for Heart Attack #6 - Any kind of stressful event

Surveys have revealed that most people fear public speaking above anything. The stress of standing in front of hundreds of people has taken many lives in the form of heart attack.

Take precautions before doing anything you know creates anxiety in your space. If you’re afraid of flying, learn relaxation techniques before taking your flight. If you have to speak in front of a crowd, practice with a small group till you feel confident.

There are, of course, many other situations where heart attack can occur. Always be aware of symptoms, especially if you feel any physical or emotional strain. And always be on the safe side. It’s better to call 911 with a false alarm than needing it after it’s too late.

However, it is best to never suffer heart attack in the first place. Getting your cholesterol and blood pressure under control almost bullet-proofs you against dying from a heart attack or stroke.

3 Mistakes That Happened When Measuring Blood Pressure

Practice doesn’t necessarily make perfect, and this is especially true when measuring blood pressure. This can lead to misdiagnosis where people who don’t actually have high blood pressure are forced on medications with serious side effects.

Practice doesn’t necessarily make perfect, and this is especially true when measuring blood pressure.

Many people don’t realize that WHEN and WHERE you take your blood pressure is as important as HOW.

This can lead to misdiagnosis where people who don’t actually have high blood pressure are forced on medications with serious side effects.

Today we’ll talk about the 3 most common mistakes people make when measuring blood pressure.

#1 – The first mistake is measuring blood pressure only once per day. Because blood pressure levels fluctuate throughout the day, it is important to get a reading at different times during the day to get a better idea of what your average is.

It’s also a great way to pinpoint the times of day that cause the BP spikes so you can target those for lifestyle and stress adjustment if needed. You also want to make sure that you are checking it several times per week and not just sporadically.

#2 – The second mistake to only measuring blood pressure at the doctor’s office, thinking that’s the only accurate way to get a reading.

In truth, “white coat syndrome,” or an elevated blood pressure due to the anxiety of being in the doctor’s office, leads to a huge number of false readings. Getting a good home monitor and taking it frequently in the comfort of your own surroundings helps eliminate this mistake.

And follow your own readings. If your blood pressure at home is normally below 120/80, but your doctor wants you to take medications because his/her readings are higher, get a second opinion from a doctor who understands white coat syndrome.

#3 – Finally, make sure to read the instructions and follow them closely for all home monitors. User error contributes to a lot of avoidable mis-readings when measuring blood pressure. You might even take the monitor to the doctor’s office and have the nurse or CNA help with your monitor for the first time.
