Top 5 Smells that are Really Fast Energy Boosters

Want to know what are the Natural Fast Energy Boosters? Try These 5 Scents - to relieve stress, boost your mood, sleep better or enhance your energy level!
Click HERE If You Are Interested in Getting Healthy or Living a More Natural Life

Are you looking for some safe, all-natural fast energy boosters to perk up your day? Read on to find out more.

Your sense of smell is described as one of the most primal of senses, as your olfactory system is tied directly to your brain’s emotional processing center.

For other senses, like sight and touch, visual or sensory input goes to your brain’s main “switchboard,” the thalamus.

Not so for scents, which wind their way through your nose and into brain regions responsible for emotions and memory, before they wind up in the thalamus.

Psychologist Johan Lundstrom, PhD, a faculty member at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, explained it this way to the American Psychological Association:

“For olfaction, you have all this basic processing before you have conscious awareness of the odor.”

This is one reason why certain odors – the scent of your mom’s apple pie, freshly cut grass, the ocean – can quickly bring up powerful emotions and nostalgic memories.

It also explains why aromatherapy – the use of aromatic essential oils to enhance your physical, psychological and spiritual well-being – is so effective.

Whether you want to relieve stress, boost your mood, sleep better or enhance your energy level, there’s an essential oil that can help. The scents that follow are particularly beneficial for enhancing energy; they’ll even give your cup of coffee a run for its money.

Want to Know what are the Natural Fast Energy Boosters? Try These 5 Scents

1. Jasmine

Jasmine is another uplifting oil with a pleasant floral scent. Research published in the journal Natural Product Communications revealed that jasmine essential oil led to increased autonomic arousal (such as increased breathing rate and blood oxygen saturation) and was associated with feelings of increased alertness and vigor.

In this case the oil was used as part of a massage oil. Researchers noted:

“ … our results demonstrated the stimulating/activating effect of jasmine oil and provide evidence for its use in aromatherapy for the relief of depression and uplifting mood in humans.”

2. Peppermint

The scent of peppermint is crisp and energizing. Research shows peppermint essential oil has stimulant-like effects, so take a whiff whenever you desire increased alertness, mental clarity and invigoration.

3. Sandalwood

Sandalwood has a woody, sweet aroma that’s known to uplift the mind in a calming manner, allowing you to gain mental clarity and focus. It has anti-depressant properties and is valued for relieving mental fatigue.

4. Black Pepper

Black pepper essential oil has warming qualities that are at the same time invigorating. Often used to enhance mental clarity, black pepper is the perfect scent for anyone with an active lifestyle. It works particularly well when combined with other scents, as it helps to enhance other oil aromas.

One study published in the Japanese Journal of Pharmacology even found inhaling essential oils including pepper led to a 1.5- to 2.5-fold increase in sympathetic nervous system activity and a 1.7-fold increase in blood adrenaline concentration compared with the participants’ resting state.

5. Lemon

The scent of lemon essential oil is invigorating and uplifting. It’s often added to natural cleaning products because it has cleansing properties, but it works just as well for brightening your state of mind. Other citrus essential oils, like grapefruit, orange and lime, may also have energizing effects.

As for how to use essential oils for aromatherapy, there are endless options. You can, for instance:

·         Put a few drops of oil into a room diffuser
·         Blend it with water in a misting bottle and use it as a room or fabric freshener
·         Put a few drops on a cotton ball and keep it in your pocket
·         Sniff it right out of the bottle
·         Add it to your bath water
·         Add a few drops to unscented body lotion or massage oil

In aromatherapy, a combination of oils is often used to provide a synergistic effect that’s even more powerful than the use of one essential oil scent alone.

Health Warnings - What is Actually in a Hot Dog?

There is no doubt that Americans love a good hot dog. But what you can find in a hot dog can make you throw up. Read this 1st before you are going to eat a hot dog.

The average American eats … wait for it … 70 hot dogs a year. This is according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC), which also noted that 95 percent of U.S. households serve hot dogs.

There’s no doubt that Americans love a good hot dog. Heck, they’re as American as apple pie and white picket fences. Every region even has its own special version.

In New York (where more hot dogs are consumed than anywhere else in the U.S.), hot dogs are served with steamed onions and dry yellow mustard.

Chicago dogs are more complicated, served with “yellow mustard, dark green relish, chopped raw onion, pickle spear, sport peppers, tomato slices and topped with a dash of celery salt and served in a poppy seed bun,” according to NHDSC.

In the South, meanwhile, you’ll find hot dogs topped with coleslaw while other regions prefer dogs topped with chili or sauerkraut.

But, be honest. Although you might think carefully about what to put on top of your dog, you probably don’t give much thought to what’s in it because, well, you’re afraid of what you might find out. (If you really don’t want to know, now’s the time to cover your eyes).

“Meat Batter” on a Bun

Hot dogs fall into the category of “emulsion-type sausages,” which are generally made from finely chopped meat, fatty tissue and water or ice.

However, according to The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in the case of hot dogs “the term meat “batter” instead of meat “emulsion” might be better.”

Hot dogs are made from meat trimmings (typically beef or pork but also poultry). These are the parts left over after the more desirable cuts, like steaks and roasts, are removed.

In high-quality dogs, the bulk of the hot dog will be made from meat – look for terms like all-beef, grass-fed and organic on the label.

But what about those cheaper lower-quality dogs? A small amount of pork, mechanically separated poultry, corn syrup solids, preservatives, soy and milk solids – all are fair game.

As the Daily Mail put it, here’s what you might see if you visited a hot-dog factory:

“In vast metal vats, tons of pork trimmings are mixed with the pink slurry formed when chicken carcasses are squeezed through metal grates and blasted with water.

The mush is mixed with powdered preservatives, flavorings, red coloring and drenched in water before being squeezed into plastic tubes to be cooked and packaged. It is a disgusting process, for the hot dog is arguably the ultimate in processed, industrial food.”

Many hot dogs contain less than 50 percent ‘regular’ meat and the rest:

·         Mechanically separated meat
·         Water (no more than 10 percent)
·         Fillers like corn starch, maltodextrin, cereal grains and corn syrup (up to 3.5 percent)
·         Salt
·         Preservatives
·         Flavorings (which don’t have to be disclosed)
·         Casings (natural casings are animal intestines)

You might be able to get past meat trimmings, mechanically separated meat and preservatives, but can you get past this …

Watch this VideoHERE about how a hot dog is being made.

2 Percent of Hot Dogs May Contain Human DNA … and Your Veggie Dog May Contain Meat

Clear Food genetically tested 345 hot dog samples from 75 brands. Their tests revealed problems such as label inaccuracies or hygiene issues, in more than 14 percent of the dogs.

Perhaps worst of all, 2 percent of the hot dogs contained traces of human DNA. Vegetarian hot dogs accounted for two-thirds of the “human DNA dogs,” and 10 percent of the veggie dogs also contained meat.

Other products contained types of meat that were not listed on the label, such as pork in a supposedly pork-free hot dog, or did not contain all the ingredients listed on the label.

If you’re still looking to chow down on hot dogs, there’s more bad news. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) recently classified processed meat as a carcinogen.

Hot dogs are the poster-child for processed meats. IARC reviewed more than 800 studies to make the cancer determination and revealed that eating 50 grams of processed meat daily (that’s the equivalent of one hot dog) increased the risk of colorectal cancer by 18 percent.

If you only eat hot dogs occasionally, you probably don’t need to worry. But if hot dogs are one of your go-to staples, cutting back may be a good idea. And while you’re at it, do your digestive tract a favor and take 30 days to detox and flush out some of those toxins you’ve accumulated.

Revealing Here are 5 Most Unhealthy Cancer-Causing Foods

A recent Nature study revealed that up to 90 percent of cancer cases are caused by extrinsic factors, including your diet which may contain unhealthy cancer-causing foods. Here are 5 foods you should avoid if you want to reduce your cancer risk.

A recent Nature study revealed that up to 90 percent of cancer cases are caused by extrinsic factors, including your diet which may contain unhealthy cancer-causing foods.

As you may well be aware, focusing your diet on healthy foods like fresh vegetables, fruits and healthy sources of protein (grass-fed meat, wild-caught fish, beans, nuts, seeds, avocado, etc.) may help lower your risk of chronic diseases like cancer.

On the other hand, a diet based on processed foods may increase your cancer risk. But this is a rather vague definition, isn’t it?

If you want to know what are the unhealthy cancer-causing foods that really increase your cancer risk, read below.

The unhealthy cancer-causing foods that follow are the worst of the worst when it comes to cancer.

1. Processed Meats

The World Health Organization’s) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) recently classified processed meats as a Group 1 carcinogen, the same category as tobacco smoke and asbestos.

This means “there is convincing evidence that the agent causes cancer,” and IARC’s determination was based on evidence showing that eating processed meat causes colorectal cancer.

Processed meats, according to WHO, refer to “meat that has been transformed through salting, curing, fermentation, smoking, or other processes to enhance flavor or improve preservation.” This includes hot dogs, ham, sausages, beef jerky, corned beef, canned meat and more.

2. Potato Chips and French Fries

These two “food groups” have been found to contain higher levels of acrylamide than other foods. Acrylamide is formed when the amino acid asparagine, which is found in high concentrations in some potatoes, is heated to high temperatures (above 248 degrees F) in the presence of certain sugars.

IARC considers acrylamide a “probable human carcinogen” and animal studies have linked it to several types of cancer.

3. Soda

Dark-colored sodas often contain 4-methylimidazole (4-MEI), which is formed during the manufacture of caramel color. 4-MEI is a potential carcinogen and a Consumer Reports study found most soda contain 3.4 micrograms to 352.5 micrograms of 4-MEI per 12-ounce can.

According to research published in PLOS One, routine consumption of certain [soda] beverages can result in 4-MEI exposures > 29 μg/day, the level at which the state of California requires products to carry cancer warning labels. Soda is also high in sugar (see below).

4. Excess Sugar

Sugars in your intestines cause cells to release GIP, a hormone that enhances insulin release. Your cells’ ability to release GIP is controlled by Î²-catenin, a protein whose activity is dependent on sugar levels.

Increased Î²-catenin activity, in turn, is associated with cancer development and may make cancer cells immortal, leading to cancer progression.

As reported by Science Daily:

“The study demonstrates that high (but not normal) sugar levels induce nuclear accumulation of Î²-catenin and leads to cell proliferation. The changes induced on Î²-catenin, the molecules involved and the diversity of cancer cells susceptible to these changes are identified.

[Study author] Dr. [Custodia] Custodia García said “We were surprised to realize that changes in our metabolism caused by dietary sugar impact on our cancer risk … Changing diet is one of easiest prevention strategies that can potentially save a lot of suffering and money.”

5. Meats Cooked at High Temperatures

When meat is cooked at high temperatures, such as fried or barbecued,  it may contain high levels of heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

When HCAs and PAHs become activated by certain enzymes in your body (which differ among individuals) they become capable of damaging DNA and potentially causing cancer. Consumption of such meats is associated with increased risks of colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.

I’ve covered some of the foods you should avoid eating, so what are the foods you should eat? Here are seven of the best foods you can eat (especially if you’re over 50).

If you’ve been feasting on any of the foods on this list, it may be time for a detox with NaturalCleanse. This 30-day colon flush and revitalization program contains a proprietary probiotic blend to nourish your gut bacteria along with buckthorn bark and rhubarb root, both of which contain beneficial anthraquinones.

Plus, they’re combined with several other gentle yet effective compounds for colon health, including licorice root, cloves, ginger, fiber-rich psyllium husk and more to help remove the junk that, after years of unhealthy eating, may have accumulated in your colon.

Watch this VideoHERE to learn about other unhealthy cancer-causing foods you should avoid.

Do you know that a cancerous cell is acidic? If your body is in a constant state of over-acidification, it becomes impossible for healthy cells to regenerate.

Cancer cells thrive in an overly acidic environment. By taking action to become more alkaline, you can make it more difficult for cancer cells to regenerate.

Eating an acid/alkaline balanced diet is the key to staying healthy. Understanding the pH of the foods that you eat is relative to the state of your body's health.

The goal of the acid alkaline balance diet, also known as the alkaline diet and the alkaline ash diet, is to achieve an optimal balance between acid-forming and alkaline-forming foods.

The anti-cancer alkaline diet greatly reduces the strain on the body's acid-detoxification systems.

Detailed information about this diet can be found in the anti-cancer alkaline diet book: The Acid Alkaline Balance Diet

Here are 15 Proven Best All Natural Cleaning Tips

Read on here to learn about the 15 proven best cleaning tips for people who are interested in getting healthy and living a more natural life.

Are you looking for any safe and natural cleaning tips that are also affordable and effective?

Is the cabinet under your kitchen sink overflowing with cleaning sprays, powders and scrubs that claim to ‘cut grease’ and ‘remove stains’ like magic … yet typically fail to deliver?

Not only are most commercial cleaners costly, but they often work no better than cleaners you could make, for pennies, using ingredients you probably already have.

Most people are pleasantly surprised when they make the switch toward natural cleaners, as aside from the cost savings they are able to ditch their chemical cleaners for safer natural ingredients.

The fact of the matter is, with every spritz and spray of a commercial cleaner, you’re adding toxic air pollution to your home’s air.

The American Lung Association states:

“Many cleaning supplies or household products can irritate the eyes or the throat or cause headaches or other health problems.

Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Other harmful ingredients include ammonia and bleach. Even natural fragrances such as citrus can react to produce dangerous pollutants indoors.

VOCs and other chemicals released when using cleaning supplies contribute to chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions and headaches.

Studies are underway to assess how these chemicals affect people who have asthma and other respiratory illnesses. However, past studies link exposure to chemicals from cleaning supplies to occupational asthma and other respiratory illnesses.”

There is a Better Way! 15 Natural Cleaning Tips

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your family’s health for the sake of cleanliness.

Try these natural cleaning tips that follow instead, to remove grease from pans, disinfect your kitchen counters, remove tough soap scum and more … safely and effectively.

1. Burned-on Food: Sprinkle salt and fresh lime juice into the pan, then scrub away, using extra salt as needed. If necessary, add a little water and a few tablespoons of salt and let the mixture soak first. You can also try putting the pan in the freezer — the frozen mess will be easier to remove.

2. Tea and coffee stains: Remove these stains from your coffee cups using salt mixed with vinegar. You can also try a mixture of baking soda and water, and allow to sit overnight.

3. Grease on pans: Sprinkle salt in the bottom of the pan and let it absorb the oil. Add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to your regular dish soap and the grease will melt away. Another trick is to pour club soda into a still-warm cast iron pan to help keep food from sticking and make clean-up easier.

4. Grout: Add lemon juice to two teaspoons of cream of tartar. Put the paste on a toothbrush and scrub away.

5. Cutting boards: Squeeze fresh lemon juice onto you r plastic or wood cutting boards. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse, to remove stains.

6. Dishwasher: Put vinegar in the soap container and let it run as normal to clean out your dishwasher. You can also fill a dishwasher-safe bowl with vinegar and set it on the top rack, then run a cycle as usual.

7. Oven: Make a paste of baking soda and water then apply it to your oven. Let it sit overnight then scour off the grime.

8. Coffee maker: Pour a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water into your coffee maker and let it brew. Stop the cycle halfway through to allow it to sit (45-60 minutes) then restart. Run a few cycles of plain water afterward to clear out the vinegar.

9. Toilets: Combine two teaspoons tea-tree essential oil to two cups of water in a spray bottle. Spritz your toilet bowl (inside and out) and let sit for 30 minutes before scrubbing.

10. Shower doors: A few drops of lemon essential oil on a sponge will help remove soap scum from your shower doors, and even protect them from future build-up.

11. Mildew: Try a mixture of lemon juice and vinegar on mildew, let it sit for a few minutes, the scrub off.

12. Windows: 10 drops of lavender or lemongrass essential oils mixed with about two ounces of water is an excellent window cleaner. Vinegar and water in a spray bottle is another natural solution to make your windows sparkle. Try using newspaper instead of paper towel to scrub.

13. Disinfecting countertop spray: Try mixing tea tree oil (30 drops) with two cups of water and a few tablespoons of castile soap for a natural disinfectant (makes a great bleach alternative).

14. Carpet deodorizer: Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets, let it sit for 30 minutes then vacuum. You can also do this on your upholstery.

15. Garbage disposal: Cut up half a lemon and grind it in your disposal for instant freshening. You can also pour in about half a cup of baking soda followed by a cup of vinegar, let it sit for 15 minutes, then run your disposal for a tougher cleaning.

Why this Actually Good Living Habit Isn't Absolutely Healthy?

If you make your bed every morning which is an actually good living habit, you’re in a minority. According to a survey of 68,000 people by Hunch.com, only 27 percent reported making their bed, while 59 percent said they do not (another lucky 12 percent paid someone to make their bed for them).

You may assume that it’s generally a good living habit to make your bed, even if you don’t actually do it. Your mother probably told you to make yours, after all, and it certainly looks tidier, especially if unexpected company shows up.

But if you refuse to make your bed, here is a good reason to support your habit (keep this one up your sleeve for all of those messy bed naysayers in your life).

A Made Bed Makes a Perfect Home for Dust Mites

The average bed may be home to 1.5 million dust mites. These tiny creatures (each is less than 1 millimeter long) don’t bite or burrow into your skin, but they do feed on your dead skin and hair. This is gross, though not particularly dangerous.

However, dust mites also poop in your bed, and their fecal pellets, as well as their body fragments, create an allergen that can be harmful to people with allergies and asthma. It’s estimated that 10 percent of Americans are sensitive to dust mite allergen.

Now here’s the thing about dust mites. In order to survive they use small glands on their bodies to soak up water from their environment. During a night of sleep, the dampness of your nice warm sheets (however slight it may seem to you) provides just the type of environment that dust mites love.

In the morning, if you jump out of bed and quickly make it again, you’re preserving that damp, warm environment that makes dust mites thrive. On the other hand, research by Dr. Stephen Pretlove of Kingston University London found that leaving your bed unmade allows the moisture to dry out, which means the dust mites become dehydrated and eventually die.

If you simply can’t stand an untidy bed, at least leave your bed unmade while you shower and have breakfast. This should give it sufficient time to air out before you put the covers back into place.

Watch this Video HERE - Your mom was wrong; here's why you should never make your bed

The Case For Making Your Bed

Dust mites aside, there are many good reasons to consider making your bed each morning if you don’t already. Among them are happiness and well-being.

Remember that Hunch.com survey? It also found that bed makers are more likely to be happy than non-bed-makers (71 percent versus 62 percent, respectively).

And according to Psychology Today:

“Bed makers are also more likely to like their jobs, own a home, exercise regularly, and feel well rested, whereas non-bed-makers hate their jobs, rent apartments, avoid the gym, and wake up tired. All in all, bed makers are happier and more successful than their rumple-sheeted peers.”

Making your bed also gives you a sense of accomplishment first thing in the morning. Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day, so you might as well start out on a productive note.

Elite Daily reported a nice little quote from Naval Admiral William McRaven at a University of Texas, Austin commencement speech:

“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another.

By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter.”

A National Sleep Foundation poll even found that people who make their bed every day or almost every day are 19 percent more likely to say they get a good night’s sleep (and in this poll 88 percent made their beds at least a few days a week).

New York Times best-selling author on happiness Gretchen Rubin also told Elite Daily that bed making is the good living habit people mention most often when asked what led to their happiness. She said:

“It’s a pretty trivial thing, but over and over people say that getting control of this little action makes them feel more in control of their life, generally.”

Considering it only takes a minute, why not try it out and see if this is true for you? (But only after letting it air out first! Dust mites … eww.)

What Causes - How to Really End Piriformis Syndrome Pain?

Every summer millions of us take advantage of fairer weather and longer days to get outside more. Morning runs, weekend bike rides, and long evening strolls become more common.

If you’re one of the many who frequently get a deep pain in your buttocks, hip or down your leg after you take up summer activities like these there’s a good chance it’s coming from a little known muscle called the piriformis.

It’s the piriformis muscle deep in the posterior side of our hips, along with a few other lateral rotator muscles, which allow our bodies to keep from falling over when we walk by shifting our body weight side to side as we lift our feet.

However, many of the activities we participate in require this muscle to continually contract. As the muscle is overworked, it becomes painfully tight while stretching nearby muscles. Piriformis syndrome is a frequent contributor to lower back pain and one of the four primary causes of sciatica.

Following are some articles related to lower back pain and cures which could be of interest to you:

What activities lead to piriformis syndrome?

Perhaps the most common activity leading to piriformis syndrome wouldn’t really be called an “activity” at all by most of us: sitting. But just holding your body erect in a seat with your hips flexed (knees bent, feet on the floor) requires your piriformis muscle to contract to help maintain that position. And sitting on a wallet can quickly make matters even worse.

Yes, many of us sit all day long throughout the year. So why the big deal about summer activities causing piriformis syndrome?

Many of our summer activities like running, bicycling, hiking, and rowing all work the piriformis muscle as we repeatedly bend our legs. In fact, they repeatedly work the same muscles over and over.

Unless we take care to properly stretch and strengthen other muscles by lateral (sideways) movements of our legs we soon create a muscle imbalance where the piriformis muscle becomes short and tight.

This is what leads to both deep muscle aches and referred nerve pain from strangulation of the sciatic nerve where it passes near or through the piriformis muscle.

Even if your pain isn’t constant yet, if you’re experiencing pain in your lower back, buttocks, or down the back of your legs it’s worth considering piriformis syndrome as a possible cause.

Here’s a couple quick ways to determine if your piriformis muscle is overly tight: take a quick look down at your feet right now. If they’re turned with your toes pointed outwards, your piriformis is tight.

Another way is to lie down and relax your legs. Now look at your feet. Chances are the toes are turned outwards. Again, that’s a sign your piriformis is overly tight and may be leading to pain.

How to end piriformis syndrome pain

The good news is piriformis syndrome, painful as it may be, can usually be quickly reversed. Naturally you’ll want to start by giving your piriformis muscle a much needed break.

This means take it easy with the running, jumping, hiking, climbing, bicycling, and rowing. Take frequent breaks when sitting so the piriformis doesn’t remain in a contracted state for prolonged periods.

Then begin targeted stretching exercises to relieve the tension in the piriformis muscle and end piriformis syndrome pain. You’ll find three easy stretches you can do without leaving your chair in the Video HERE.

Many people get pain relief the first time they try these stretches and most overcome their piriformis syndrome symptoms within a couple weeks through targeted stretching.
