Stop and Prevent Kidney Disease from Progressing – Weird Cause of Chronic Kidney Disease

If you have been diagnosed with CKD, chances are that your doctor blamed it on high blood pressuretype-2 diabetes, or other underlying conditions.

But a new study published in the journal Kidney International Reports now reveals another underlying cause. It’s one that you wouldn’t have thought of before, and it may be easier to address than underlying physical diseases.

Most psychological disorders like anxiety or depression cannot be linked to a specific life event, which is what distinguishes them from stress-related disorders (SRDs), which usually follow trauma, the death of a loved one, a car accident, a difficult diagnosis, or some other distressing event.

Previous studies have shown that SRDs put us at risk of infections, autoimmune diseases, and heart disease, all of which can contribute to kidney disease.

But the authors of this new study noted that there are many other connections between stress and kidney function:

1. Scientists already know that stress can result in inadequate blood flow to the kidneys.

2. Stress leads to an overactive sympathetic nervous system, which has a major effect on the kidneys.

3. Stress affects the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, a communication path in which the brain triggers the kidneys to secrete hormones like cortisol.

Given all these connections between stress and kidneys, the researchers wanted to determine whether SRDs contribute to kidney disease.

To find out, they used data collected by a population-wide Swedish study that included 30,998 people with an SRD diagnosis and 116,677 age- and sex-matched people with whom to compare them.

Specifically, they examined whether chronic kidney disease among SRD sufferers worsened, as measured by estimated glomerular filtration rates.

They identified acute kidney injury by recording those who were hospitalized with it and those who suffered rapid creatinine changes, a common sign of acute kidney injury.

The subjects had an average age of 45 years, and 71% of them were women. They were observed for an average of 3.2 years after their SRD diagnoses.

The study confirmed both hypotheses.

1. The subjects diagnosed with SRDs were 23% more likely to experience a progression in chronic kidney disease.

2. Those with SRDs were also 22% more likely to develop an acute kidney injury, but only in the first year after the SRD diagnosis.

This finding remained true even when the researchers excluded the influence of other psychiatric disorders, health conditions, and medications from their analysis.

This shows that resilience to stress is not only a psychological advantage but can also prevent a decline in kidney function and maybe even save your life in the process.

This also shows that chronic kidney disease is not just some unavoidable genetic condition, as many doctors want you to think. Nor is it simply an aftereffect of high blood pressure or diabetes.

Indeed, there are simple steps you can take to reverse chronic kidney disease, using nothing but easy life changes (and yes, one of them is to reduce stress). Learn all the details here, to stop and prevent kidney disease from progressing, …

Stop and Prevent Kidney Disease from Progressing – Chronic Kidney Disease Cured By Moving To a Different Home

There are many known contributors to chronic kidney diseases. But could the street, city, or even state where you live contribute too?

The answer may be yes, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN). This provides a strong argument that sometimes moving house can save you from CKD.

Most countries are struggling with extreme air pollution in their cities, as people flock to them from rural areas. Industrialized countries such as China and India have started struggling with pollution in huge megacities because of all the gases emitted by factories and vehicles.

Thus, it is understandable that Chinese researchers from Peking University decided to study the link between air pollution and chronic kidney disease, given that an association has already been established linking pollution to heart and respiratory diseases, including lung cancer.

The pollution that threatens our health is usually called fine particulate matter, or PM2.5. This means that the solid and liquid particles in the air are 2.5 micrometers or smaller. One of your hairs is 30 times this size.

The Chinese scientists used data collected by China’s National Survey of Chronic Kidney Disease, a study with 47,204 adult subjects.

They obtained each subjects’ address and used satellite information to estimate the amount of PM2.5 to which they had been exposed for two years.

Around 10.8% of their subjects had chronic kidney disease, from mild to severe.

The scientists found that people living in areas with high levels of fine particulate matter were much more likely to have chronic kidney disease than their peers who lived in areas with cleaner air.

To be precise, each increase of 10 micrograms of pollutants per cubic meter of air increased a participant’s risk of chronic kidney disease by 30%.

But air pollution isn’t the only pollution that causes CKD. There is also pollution in your food, in your cleaning products, and in many other places that you wouldn’t even think of. Plus, there are specific foods and other lifestyle factors that directly destroy your kidneys.

So, to completely reverse chronic kidney disease, you must make the simple lifestyle changes explained here. They have helped thousands of people already to stop and prevent kidney disease from progressing…

Stop and Prevent Kidney Disease from Progressing – Chronic Kidney Disease: Why Doctors Ignore This Cure

There is a simple, effective treatment for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Ninety percent of doctors agree that this treatment is effective in slowing down or stopping CKD in its tracks.

Yet, they very seldom prescribe it to their patients.

Why?

A new study published in the journal Kidney Medicine asked that exact question. And the answer is shocking.

The researchers used the National Kidney Foundation database, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics database, and the National Kidney Foundation 2019 Spring Clinical Meetings mobile app to recruit their subjects via email. They asked these subjects to complete anonymous surveys regarding their attitudes about and experiences with nutrition therapy.

These subjects included 348 kidney disease patients, 66 registered dietitian nutritionists who regularly saw kidney disease patients, and 30 doctors.

Interestingly enough, an overwhelming number of participants had positive perceptions of nutrition therapy. They believed that it could manage the complications of kidney disease and slow (or prevent) its progression.

The patients wanted to be referred for this therapy, and almost 80% agreed that it was effective.

Notwithstanding this, 48% of the patients reported that they had never been referred for nutrition therapy by their doctors and that they had never seen a nutritionist. Only those with diabetes had been referred.

Almost 90% of doctors and 96% of nutritionists agreed that nutrition therapy was effective. Still, most of them reported that they had not referred patients, and the nutritionists reported that they did not offer the treatment.

But why not? What is going on here?

First, most of the subjects were afraid that their insurance didn’t have coverage for nutrition therapy for chronic kidney disease.

This explains why doctors don’t refer patients and why patients don’t ask for it. In addition, the nutritionists complained that they were sometimes not reimbursed by medical insurers or that the insurers’ codes were too complicated to use, and that these problems put them off from providing this therapy.

Secondly, patients complained that there weren’t enough nutritionists who were qualified to provide the therapy. The scientists found that this was probably true and that the National Institutes of Health were starting to train more.

Thirdly, while almost 90% of the patients and 78% of the nutritionists believed that patients could stick to nutrition and lifestyle advice, only 53% of doctors thought they could—hence, another possible reason for not referring them for nutrition therapy.

Reverse Your Chronic Kidney Disease Naturally – Tackle Chronic Kidney Disease with This Controversial Drink

We love this drink so much that thousands of studies have been done about it. It has been labeled the worst killer or the greatest health savior.

So which is true regarding chronic kidney disease?

According to a new study published in the Journal of Renal Nutrition, this drink is extremely beneficial.

The research team led by Turkish scientists from Koc University School of Medicine in Istanbul and Suleyman Demirel University School of Medicine in Isparta noticed previous research that concluded that coffee could combat inflammation, fight harmful oxidation, stop scar tissue from forming in organs, and prevent unnecessary blood clotting.

They also noticed previous research on the link between coffee consumption and chronic kidney disease. So they decided to conduct a literature review to check whether most of the available research supported the effectiveness of coffee against this disease.

They searched medical databases for studies from 1960 to February 2020 and found 12 studies with 505,841 participants. None of the studies were randomized double-blind trials, the strongest form of research that exists.

It turned out that drinking coffee could reduce the subjects’ risk of chronic kidney disease by 14%, reduce their chance of reaching end-stage kidney disease by 18%, and reduce albuminuria by 19%.

Albumin is an important protein, but it should be in your blood, not your urine. If it is in your urine, it is called albuminuria and may indicate that you have kidney disease.

Coffee drinkers were also 28% less likely than those who consumed little coffee to die of kidney disease.

All of this was true for people who drank two or more cups of coffee per day, as compared with people who drank one or fewer cups per day.

The National Kidney Foundation does warn that you should keep your coffee consumption at a moderate level if you already have kidney disease, especially if you struggle with blood pressure control. Caffeine can lead to a short-term spike in blood pressure that can damage your kidneys.

So coffee cannot be used as a treatment option for already existing CKD. But you can reverse your Chronic Kidney Disease naturally in a few days using other simple lifestyle changes explained here

Reverse Your Chronic Kidney Disease Naturally – Your Neighborhood Caused Chronic Kidney Disease

A new study in SSM – Population Health compared hundreds of neighborhoods and found a strong correlation between a specific type of neighborhood and chronic kidney disease.

Some previous studies have concluded that your socioeconomic status can affect your chronic kidney disease (CKD) risk. This should not be surprising, as gym memberships, vehicle ownership to drive to health stores, and healthy food come at a cost.

Similarly, the new study goes beyond socioeconomic status and considers neighborhoods and neighborhood characteristics and their relationship with CKD.

The neighborhood characteristics of particular interest were socioeconomic status, crime rate, proximity to health food stores, walkability, and the networks of relationships among neighborhood residents (called social capital).

Their study sample consisted of 23,692 adult residents of Philadelphia across 97 percent of its neighborhoods. All of them had visited a primary care practice in 2016 or 2017.

During these visits, indicators of CKD were measured, including kidney function, poor glycemic control (defined as a hemoglobin A1c from 6.5 percent upwards), and uncontrolled blood pressure—defined as a systolic score from 140 mmHg upwards and/or a diastolic score from 90 mmHg upwards.

They made sure to prevent age, sex, race, and insurance coverage from influencing their results.

They found that only socioeconomic status—defined as a combination of neighborhood income, educational attainment, and occupation—was associated with the likelihood of CKD, with people in the poorest neighborhoods being 46 percent more likely to develop it than those in the richest neighborhoods were.

People in the neighborhoods in the middle of the socioeconomic spectrum were 35 percent more likely to have CKD than those in the richest neighborhoods.

So now we know for a fact that CKD is caused by lifestyle factors. And we can change most lifestyle factors. Here I’ll explain a few simple lifestyle factors you can change to reverse your Chronic Kidney Disease naturally…

Reverse Your Chronic Kidney Disease Naturally – The Worst Part of Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is not just a problem in the sense that you might be on dialysis or might be forced to eat only certain types of food.

A recent study in the Journal of Clinical Practice reveals different effects that happen long before the end stages of CKD.

To conduct their investigation, the researchers recruited 150 chronic kidney disease sufferers from a teaching hospital in northwestern Nigeria: 77 men and 73 women.

They then matched the subjects according to demographic characteristics with 150 healthy people from the general population. The subjects were 53 years old on average.

The researchers gave their subjects the Kidney Disease Quality of Life survey together with other questionnaires to collect information regarding the subject’s demographic, social, and economic characteristics, among others.

They also measured the subject’s blood pressure, creatinine levels, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), kidney size and composition, and so on.

They used the biological information they collected to divide the subjects into five groups, ranging from least to most severe chronic kidney disease.

The researchers reached two conclusions.

1. Chronic kidney disease sufferers had worse quality of life scores than non-sufferers had.

2. Quality of life scores deteriorated along with the severity of the disease.

This was true for all domains of the quality of life questionnaire, namely, general health, the burden of kidney disease, symptoms and problems, and the effects of kidney disease.

General health includes questions such as “How does your health compare with one year ago?”, ”How much does your health limit activities like vigorous sport, pushing vacuum cleaners, climbing stairs, kneeling, walking, etc.?”, ”Have you cut down the amount of time you spend on work or other activities?”, and ”How much has your health interfered with normal social activities?”

The burden of kidney disease domain included questions such as “How much do you isolate yourself from people around you?”, “How slowly do you react to things going on?”, and ”How often do you act irritably?”

The symptoms/problems domain included questions such as ”How often do you struggle to concentrate?”, “How often do you have sore muscles, chest pain, cramps, shortness of breath, dizziness, faintness, lack of appetite, and so on?”, and “Does it interfere with fluid intake, diet, working around the house, travel, sex, appearance, etc.?”

The effects of kidney disease domain included questions such as “Do you spend time with friends and family and you have their support?”, “Does your health stop you from working at a paying job?”, and “How much support do you receive from medical staff?”

From the above, it is clear that CKD leaves almost no aspect of the quality of life of chronic kidney disease sufferers untouched.

And what makes CKD so devastating is that it begins long before the people reach the most severe stages of this disease.

What is the Best Way to Keep Chronic Kidney Disease from Getting Worse?

What is the Best Way to Keep Chronic Kidney Disease from Getting Worse? There are five stages of kidney disease. In stages 1-3, the people may not even realize they’re suffering from a dangerous disease. But when it progresses to stage 5, kidney failure is unavoidable. So, it’s not so much about finding a cure for kidney disease as to finding a way to prevent it from progressing. Keep Chronic Kidney Disease from Getting Worse – When Chronic Kidney Disease Drugs Kill

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

And that seems to be the case with many chronic kidney disease mediations according to a new study from the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

Even worse, the side effects become more and more severe the longer that people took the medications. Doctors tend to prescribe chronic medications for chronic conditions, which is unfortunate because the harmful effects of drugs tend to be cumulative, i.e., they increase in quantity or degree the longer that patients take the drug.

And some of the side effects even include kidney failure and death.

The most common medications prescribed for chronic kidney disease are renin–angiotensin system inhibitors, antithrombotic agents, and diuretics.

The first of these interferes with the system that controls blood pressure and fluid and electrolyte balance, the second reduces the formation of blood clots, and the third increases the amount of water and salt patients excrete in the form of urine.

The subjects of the new study all had non-dialysis chronic kidney disease; 65 percent of them were male, and the average age was 69. They all had an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 (milliliter per minute per square meter). The researchers obtained their data from the Chronic Kidney Disease-Renal Epidemiology and Information Network.

Over just two years, 536—18 percent—of these subjects experienced 751 negative drug reactions, with 150 of these serious and 16 of them fatal.

The scientists obtained details of the negative drug reactions from hospitalization records, complete medical records, and participant interviews. They could then calculate whether these consequences stemmed directly or indirectly from the drugs.

Two-thirds of these negative reactions were renal and urinary problems, especially acute kidney injury and hemorrhages. It’s ironic when drugs for kidney disease actually cause kidney damage.

Problems in the gastrointestinal, muscular, skeletal, and connective tissue systems were also fairly common.

Incredibly, the patients were prescribed an average of 8 different drugs, with some of the patients receiving more than 12.

Those with an eGFR of less than 30 mL/min/1.73 m2 were 56 and 82 percent more likely than the rest of the study population was to suffer negative or serious negative reactions, respectively.

Compared with those who took five or fewer drugs, those prescribed more than 10 drugs were 1.6 times more likely to suffer negative reactions and 2.1 times more likely to suffer serious negative reactions.

Therefore, although they seem to be simple solutions to serious health problems, remember that drugs cause their own problems that can, as in 16 of these cases, be deadly.

Keep Chronic Kidney Disease from Getting Worse – How Chronic Kidney Disease Is Ruining Your Quality of Life

Chronic kidney disease sufferers are okay until they require dialysis or a kidney transplant.

Well this is the common view, but new research published in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology states something quite the opposite.

In fact, it goes as far as saying that people who have the earliest stage of kidney disease are also suffering – often without realizing it.

Indian scientists analyzed information collected by the Indian Chronic Kidney Disease Study whose objective it was to record patient’s quality of life every year.

This included information about both physical and mental health, the negative impact the disease had on their lives, symptoms, and any other problems.

The quality of life was measured on the Kidney Disease Quality of Life, which is a 36-item measurement index.

The subjects received a score from 0 to 100 and were tested at the beginning of the study and every subsequent year.

On average, participants scored 43/100 in the physical health, 48/100 in mental health, 61/100 in the negative impact part, 87/100 in the effects, and 90/100 in the symptoms.

Physical and mental health scales tested general health, available energy, ability to accomplish tasks, depression, and anxiety, so they should have scored higher.

The negative impact (burden) scale tested the interference of the disease with their daily lives, the frustration it caused, and the burden they felt they posed to others.

Here they should have scored lower. The same goes for the symptoms and problems component, which measured pain, sore muscles, cramps, and so on.

All of this is important because a poor quality of life actually has been shown to contribute to the health problems of sufferers.

Patients with mild-moderate kidney disease, who had low physical and mental health scores, were happier than their peers that suffered cardiovascular events and experienced a faster progression in their kidney disease.

Therefore, mild kidney disease can ruin a patient’s quality of life, which then feeds back into the system, causing their kidney disease to progress even faster.

Keep Chronic Kidney Disease from Getting Worse – It’s therefore important that you take action today to address your kidney disease at its source. Its progressions can be stopped or even reversed using the simple lifestyle changes explained here…

Keep Chronic Kidney Disease from Getting Worse – Eating this Halts Kidney Disease

And a new study published in Preprints now reveals food a widely available food that prevents kidney disease from progressing to the next stage.

Kidney function is assessed via a measurement called glomerular filtration rate. It indicates the amount of blood filtered by the glomeruli per minute. The glomeruli are tiny capillaries in your kidneys that filter water and waste products out of your blood while retaining blood cells and other useful larger substances.

A score above 90 is normal, while a score below indicates some level of kidney dysfunction. This score drops naturally as people age.

Researchers wanted to find out whether folic acid could increase anti-oxidative activity and prevent deterioration in kidney function.

They wanted to know whether prominent antioxidative systems, PON1 activity and homocysteine levels in our blood could stop our glomerular filtration rate from dropping.

There were 113 participants who had been diagnosed with kidney disease at stages 4, 3b, and 3a. Stage 4 is very low kidney function with stage 5 signifying complete kidney failure.

The treatment consisted of three consecutive months of folic acid for one group, while the other group received no treatment.

Their study proved their hypothesis correct – folic acid prevented glomerular filtration rates from dropping further.

It even worked for stage 4 kidney disease sufferers. Best of all, it did not just prevent their kidney function scores from dropping, it also improved them.

Folic acid is almost exclusively sold as synthetic drugs that can have harmful side effects like numbness or tingling, mouth and tongue pain, weakness, confusion, hives, and nausea.

The best way to consume it is through food, where it is called folate or vitamin b9.

Foods especially rich in folate include beans, peas, lentils, asparagus, beets, eggs, citrus fruits, papaya, nuts, seeds, spinach, kale, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli.
