Here are 15 Proven Best All Natural Cleaning Tips

Read on here to learn about the 15 proven best cleaning tips for people who are interested in getting healthy and living a more natural life.

Are you looking for any safe and natural cleaning tips that are also affordable and effective?

Is the cabinet under your kitchen sink overflowing with cleaning sprays, powders and scrubs that claim to ‘cut grease’ and ‘remove stains’ like magic … yet typically fail to deliver?

Not only are most commercial cleaners costly, but they often work no better than cleaners you could make, for pennies, using ingredients you probably already have.

Most people are pleasantly surprised when they make the switch toward natural cleaners, as aside from the cost savings they are able to ditch their chemical cleaners for safer natural ingredients.

The fact of the matter is, with every spritz and spray of a commercial cleaner, you’re adding toxic air pollution to your home’s air.

The American Lung Association states:

“Many cleaning supplies or household products can irritate the eyes or the throat or cause headaches or other health problems.

Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Other harmful ingredients include ammonia and bleach. Even natural fragrances such as citrus can react to produce dangerous pollutants indoors.

VOCs and other chemicals released when using cleaning supplies contribute to chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions and headaches.

Studies are underway to assess how these chemicals affect people who have asthma and other respiratory illnesses. However, past studies link exposure to chemicals from cleaning supplies to occupational asthma and other respiratory illnesses.”

There is a Better Way! 15 Natural Cleaning Tips

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your family’s health for the sake of cleanliness.

Try these natural cleaning tips that follow instead, to remove grease from pans, disinfect your kitchen counters, remove tough soap scum and more … safely and effectively.

1. Burned-on Food: Sprinkle salt and fresh lime juice into the pan, then scrub away, using extra salt as needed. If necessary, add a little water and a few tablespoons of salt and let the mixture soak first. You can also try putting the pan in the freezer — the frozen mess will be easier to remove.

2. Tea and coffee stains: Remove these stains from your coffee cups using salt mixed with vinegar. You can also try a mixture of baking soda and water, and allow to sit overnight.

3. Grease on pans: Sprinkle salt in the bottom of the pan and let it absorb the oil. Add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to your regular dish soap and the grease will melt away. Another trick is to pour club soda into a still-warm cast iron pan to help keep food from sticking and make clean-up easier.

4. Grout: Add lemon juice to two teaspoons of cream of tartar. Put the paste on a toothbrush and scrub away.

5. Cutting boards: Squeeze fresh lemon juice onto you r plastic or wood cutting boards. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse, to remove stains.

6. Dishwasher: Put vinegar in the soap container and let it run as normal to clean out your dishwasher. You can also fill a dishwasher-safe bowl with vinegar and set it on the top rack, then run a cycle as usual.

7. Oven: Make a paste of baking soda and water then apply it to your oven. Let it sit overnight then scour off the grime.

8. Coffee maker: Pour a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water into your coffee maker and let it brew. Stop the cycle halfway through to allow it to sit (45-60 minutes) then restart. Run a few cycles of plain water afterward to clear out the vinegar.

9. Toilets: Combine two teaspoons tea-tree essential oil to two cups of water in a spray bottle. Spritz your toilet bowl (inside and out) and let sit for 30 minutes before scrubbing.

10. Shower doors: A few drops of lemon essential oil on a sponge will help remove soap scum from your shower doors, and even protect them from future build-up.

11. Mildew: Try a mixture of lemon juice and vinegar on mildew, let it sit for a few minutes, the scrub off.

12. Windows: 10 drops of lavender or lemongrass essential oils mixed with about two ounces of water is an excellent window cleaner. Vinegar and water in a spray bottle is another natural solution to make your windows sparkle. Try using newspaper instead of paper towel to scrub.

13. Disinfecting countertop spray: Try mixing tea tree oil (30 drops) with two cups of water and a few tablespoons of castile soap for a natural disinfectant (makes a great bleach alternative).

14. Carpet deodorizer: Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets, let it sit for 30 minutes then vacuum. You can also do this on your upholstery.

15. Garbage disposal: Cut up half a lemon and grind it in your disposal for instant freshening. You can also pour in about half a cup of baking soda followed by a cup of vinegar, let it sit for 15 minutes, then run your disposal for a tougher cleaning.

Why this Actually Good Living Habit Isn't Absolutely Healthy?

If you make your bed every morning which is an actually good living habit, you’re in a minority. According to a survey of 68,000 people by Hunch.com, only 27 percent reported making their bed, while 59 percent said they do not (another lucky 12 percent paid someone to make their bed for them).

You may assume that it’s generally a good living habit to make your bed, even if you don’t actually do it. Your mother probably told you to make yours, after all, and it certainly looks tidier, especially if unexpected company shows up.

But if you refuse to make your bed, here is a good reason to support your habit (keep this one up your sleeve for all of those messy bed naysayers in your life).

A Made Bed Makes a Perfect Home for Dust Mites

The average bed may be home to 1.5 million dust mites. These tiny creatures (each is less than 1 millimeter long) don’t bite or burrow into your skin, but they do feed on your dead skin and hair. This is gross, though not particularly dangerous.

However, dust mites also poop in your bed, and their fecal pellets, as well as their body fragments, create an allergen that can be harmful to people with allergies and asthma. It’s estimated that 10 percent of Americans are sensitive to dust mite allergen.

Now here’s the thing about dust mites. In order to survive they use small glands on their bodies to soak up water from their environment. During a night of sleep, the dampness of your nice warm sheets (however slight it may seem to you) provides just the type of environment that dust mites love.

In the morning, if you jump out of bed and quickly make it again, you’re preserving that damp, warm environment that makes dust mites thrive. On the other hand, research by Dr. Stephen Pretlove of Kingston University London found that leaving your bed unmade allows the moisture to dry out, which means the dust mites become dehydrated and eventually die.

If you simply can’t stand an untidy bed, at least leave your bed unmade while you shower and have breakfast. This should give it sufficient time to air out before you put the covers back into place.

Watch this Video HERE - Your mom was wrong; here's why you should never make your bed

The Case For Making Your Bed

Dust mites aside, there are many good reasons to consider making your bed each morning if you don’t already. Among them are happiness and well-being.

Remember that Hunch.com survey? It also found that bed makers are more likely to be happy than non-bed-makers (71 percent versus 62 percent, respectively).

And according to Psychology Today:

“Bed makers are also more likely to like their jobs, own a home, exercise regularly, and feel well rested, whereas non-bed-makers hate their jobs, rent apartments, avoid the gym, and wake up tired. All in all, bed makers are happier and more successful than their rumple-sheeted peers.”

Making your bed also gives you a sense of accomplishment first thing in the morning. Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day, so you might as well start out on a productive note.

Elite Daily reported a nice little quote from Naval Admiral William McRaven at a University of Texas, Austin commencement speech:

“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another.

By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter.”

A National Sleep Foundation poll even found that people who make their bed every day or almost every day are 19 percent more likely to say they get a good night’s sleep (and in this poll 88 percent made their beds at least a few days a week).

New York Times best-selling author on happiness Gretchen Rubin also told Elite Daily that bed making is the good living habit people mention most often when asked what led to their happiness. She said:

“It’s a pretty trivial thing, but over and over people say that getting control of this little action makes them feel more in control of their life, generally.”

Considering it only takes a minute, why not try it out and see if this is true for you? (But only after letting it air out first! Dust mites … eww.)

What Causes - How to Really End Piriformis Syndrome Pain?

Every summer millions of us take advantage of fairer weather and longer days to get outside more. Morning runs, weekend bike rides, and long evening strolls become more common.

If you’re one of the many who frequently get a deep pain in your buttocks, hip or down your leg after you take up summer activities like these there’s a good chance it’s coming from a little known muscle called the piriformis.

It’s the piriformis muscle deep in the posterior side of our hips, along with a few other lateral rotator muscles, which allow our bodies to keep from falling over when we walk by shifting our body weight side to side as we lift our feet.

However, many of the activities we participate in require this muscle to continually contract. As the muscle is overworked, it becomes painfully tight while stretching nearby muscles. Piriformis syndrome is a frequent contributor to lower back pain and one of the four primary causes of sciatica.

Following are some articles related to lower back pain and cures which could be of interest to you:

What activities lead to piriformis syndrome?

Perhaps the most common activity leading to piriformis syndrome wouldn’t really be called an “activity” at all by most of us: sitting. But just holding your body erect in a seat with your hips flexed (knees bent, feet on the floor) requires your piriformis muscle to contract to help maintain that position. And sitting on a wallet can quickly make matters even worse.

Yes, many of us sit all day long throughout the year. So why the big deal about summer activities causing piriformis syndrome?

Many of our summer activities like running, bicycling, hiking, and rowing all work the piriformis muscle as we repeatedly bend our legs. In fact, they repeatedly work the same muscles over and over.

Unless we take care to properly stretch and strengthen other muscles by lateral (sideways) movements of our legs we soon create a muscle imbalance where the piriformis muscle becomes short and tight.

This is what leads to both deep muscle aches and referred nerve pain from strangulation of the sciatic nerve where it passes near or through the piriformis muscle.

Even if your pain isn’t constant yet, if you’re experiencing pain in your lower back, buttocks, or down the back of your legs it’s worth considering piriformis syndrome as a possible cause.

Here’s a couple quick ways to determine if your piriformis muscle is overly tight: take a quick look down at your feet right now. If they’re turned with your toes pointed outwards, your piriformis is tight.

Another way is to lie down and relax your legs. Now look at your feet. Chances are the toes are turned outwards. Again, that’s a sign your piriformis is overly tight and may be leading to pain.

How to end piriformis syndrome pain

The good news is piriformis syndrome, painful as it may be, can usually be quickly reversed. Naturally you’ll want to start by giving your piriformis muscle a much needed break.

This means take it easy with the running, jumping, hiking, climbing, bicycling, and rowing. Take frequent breaks when sitting so the piriformis doesn’t remain in a contracted state for prolonged periods.

Then begin targeted stretching exercises to relieve the tension in the piriformis muscle and end piriformis syndrome pain. You’ll find three easy stretches you can do without leaving your chair in the Video HERE.

Many people get pain relief the first time they try these stretches and most overcome their piriformis syndrome symptoms within a couple weeks through targeted stretching.

5 Easy Ways to Remarkably Boost Your Immune System

Does it seem that every winter you get sick more often and it takes you much longer to get well?

Does a common cold sideline you as long as the flu?

If this sounds familiar you could be suffering from a weak immune system. Weakened immunity makes us feel constantly tired, workouts are less effective and you constantly feel stressed out.

There are a lot of reasons that your immune system has taken a beating. It can be simple aging or environmental pollutants, pushing yourself too hard or chronic stress.

In fact just about everything can contribute to a weak immune system, but for most it isn’t a permanent problem. With these 5 tips, you can boost your immune system so you feel better and more energetic.

1. Live Well & Prosper

Ok so this is a pretty obvious one, but it is also one we are all most likely to forget or neglect. The best way to fight disease and illness is to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which includes:

·         Don’t smoke or quit smoking

·         Enjoy a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and low in dairy and saturated fats.

·         Exercise regularly; at least 3 days each week

·         Rest often.

·         Maintain a healthy weight.

·         Regulate your blood pressure.

·         If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation.

·         Wash your hands regularly and cook meats using at least minimum internal temperatures.

·         Get appropriate screening tests.

2. Several Vitamins A Day

A healthy diet is without a doubt important, but many of us don’t get all the vitamins and nutrients we need through our meals. Numerous studies have found deficiencies in micronutrients that can result in a reduction of immunity cells.

Add more of these vitamins into your daily regimen:

·         Selenium. Studies have found low selenium levels raise the risk of certain types of cancer, including; breast, bladder, colon, rectum, lung, and prostate.

·         Vitamin A. Immunity experts agree that a vitamin A deficiency is linked to impaired immunity and an increased risk of infection.

·         Vitamin B2. Studies have suggested that vitamin B2 boosts resistance to bacterial infections.

·         Vitamin B6. A vitamin B6 deficiency can depress the formation of immunity cells.

·         Vitamin CVitamin C works with other micronutrients to boost immunity.

·         Vitamin D. Vitamin D, which most North Americans are deficient in, plays a role in many immune responses.

·         Vitamin E. A study involving healthy subjects over age 65 found that high daily doses of vitamin E increased antibody responses to hepatitis B and tetanus after vaccination.

·         Zinc. Zinc is essential for immunity cells. A deficiency affects the ability of these cells to function as they should.

3. Helping Herbs

The science on the usefulness of herbs as supplements is not quite complete. Many of the studies in existence provide anecdotal evidence or insufficient control groups.

This is an important fact to remember with the large number of herbs on the market promising to boost immunity with no real proof.

While this is true it is also important to remember that Eastern culture has relied on herbal remedies for centuries with many positive results.

Be careful in the supplements you choose, but here is a small list of herbs that can help boost your immunity:

·         Aloe Vera. Topical aloe Vera is a powerful anti-inflammatory used to ward off infections from burns and other wounds.

·         Astragals membranes. Derived from the root of the astragals plant, this herb stimulates the immune system, giving it greater fighting power.

·         Garlic. Lab tests have proven garlic as a powerful foe against viruses, bacteria, and fungi. A 2006 study found a link between the frequency of use of garlic and a reduced risk of some common forms cancers in southern Europe.

·         Ginseng. It’s unclear how ginseng root works, but non-Western practitioners have been prescribing ginseng to stimulate immune function for centuries.

You can also watch this Video HERE to learn how to boost your system naturally.

4. Bacteria Is Your…Friend?

There is growing body of literature that indicates that a relationship exists between your immune system and the good bacteria found in your body.

Scientists now know that certain bacteria can correct imbalances in order to increase the quantity of immunity cells.

Some anecdotal studies and incomplete studies have indicated that adding good bacteria like probiotics to your diet can increase immunity cell levels.

Many food and dairy products list probiotics on their labels. Unfortunately none of these ingredients are regulated, so the claims cannot be verified.

5. De-stress For Success

For decades modern medicine has treated stress and emotional instability as nothing more than an aside, but recently scientists have begun to understand and acknowledge that a link does exist between physical and mental health. Emotional stress can lead to as well as aggravate many health problems and delay recovery.

Researchers believe that psychological stress impacts the immune system by disrupting communication between the systems in the body that work together. Stress hormones like cortisol have a negative effect on our ability to handle stress.

Any steps you can take to reduce the stress of daily life– yoga, music, meditation, exercise or reading–can help boost your immune system to keep you healthy.

Why Prebiotics Are Really Absolutely Important for Health?

Read on here to understand why prebiotics are important for health.

Probiotics, also known as beneficial bacteria, have hit the mainstream market with gusto, and can now be found not only as supplements in health food stores but also are added to popular foods like yogurt, protein bars, kefir and even ice cream.

With revenues of $1.3 billion, and about 150 companies already devoted to the probiotics market in North America alone, the stage is set for these functional foods to really take off.

In case you haven’t heard, probiotics are most widely known for optimizing the microflora in your gut, thereby enhancing digestive health.

But they have also been highlighted as beneficial for a laundry list of other health conditions, from diabetes and mental health issues to obesity.

While recognition for probiotics is growing strong, their lesser-known “cousins,” prebiotics, are much less talked about — but they deserve their own fair share of the limelight.

What are prebiotics?

You can also watch this Video HERE to get a better understanding of prebiotics

Prebiotics are the “Food” for Your Probiotics

Prebiotics are non-digestible substances that stimulate the growth and/or activity of beneficial microorganisms like probiotics in your digestive tract.

In other words, prebiotics “feed” the probiotics in your gut, allowing them to flourish. When probiotics and prebiotics are taken together, they are called “synbiotics,” which work synergistically to enhance the probiotics’ beneficial effects.

There is some evidence that prebiotics may, directly or indirectly, benefit your immune system, as well as improve gastrointestinal health and possibly enhance the absorption of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Their primary role, however, at least as it’s been discovered so far, is to promote the growth of beneficial bacterial, allowing you to reap their full protective benefits to your health.

In addition to improving your digestive health, emerging evidence suggests enhancing the proliferation of probiotics in your gut, which prebiotics have been proven to do, may benefit:

·         Eczema
·         Immune response
·         Diarrhoea (including antibiotic-associated diarrhoea)
·         Respiratory infections
·         Inflammatory bowel disease
·         Irritable bowel syndrome
·         Tooth decay
·         Obesity

What are the Best Prebiotic Foods?

The dietary fiber inulin (or fructan) is one of the most common types of naturally occurring prebiotics. Inulin is found in many root vegetables, including:

·         Asparagus
·         Garlic
·         Leeks
·         Onion
·         Artichokes
·         Jicama root

Another common source of prebiotics, which is often added to supplements and prebiotic-fortified foods, is FOS, or fructo-oligosaccharides.

Both Jerusalem artichokes and chicory root are excellent natural sources of FOS, if you would like to get them from dietary sources instead of supplements. Bananas and whole grains also contain some prebiotics.

By making sure you are giving your body’s beneficial microorganisms proper “food” (prebiotics stimulate the growth of more than just probiotics, per say), you can help support the living “ecosystem” in your gut, and ensure the bacteria your body needs to thrive will overpower those that cause disease.

For another effective way (perhaps the most effective way) to eliminate harmful bacteria — and parasites — from your body, check out the five-step process outlined in this absolutely FREE book somecall the “natural health bible”

What to Look for in a Back Pain Cream?

The Best & The Worst (Including Those Containing a Potentially Life-Threatening Ingredient!)

Chronic pain impacts 116 million Americans — that’s more than the number of people who suffer from diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined.

Back pain is by far the most common type of pain, with 27 percent of those who responded to a National Institute of Health Statistics survey noting that back pain was a problem for them.

If you’re among them, you’re probably all too familiar with the tenderness, pain and stiffness in your back, which can make it difficult to stand up, walk and even sit comfortably.

The pain can become so severe that it spreads into your buttocks and legs, causing weakness when you walk and flaring up any time you attempt to carry on with your daily activities.

If you live with back pain, you’ll most likely easily understand why it is the leading cause of disability in Americans under 45 years old — and this isn’t only due to the physical toll it takes.

Living with chronic pain is a heavy emotional burden to bear, and as such those with low back pain are nearly five times as likely to suffer from serious psychological distress compared to those without it.

It goes without saying that pain relief is, therefore, literally a lifeline for those with chronic back pain, and many opt for back pain cream to help soothe and relieve their discomfort.

Depending on which type you choose, however, you may or may not actually find relief — and some may even carry significant risks.

Popular Back Pain Creams Only Distract You from Your Pain

The best types of pain relief are not only skin deep; they work to address the foundational causes of your pain so your body can truly heal.

Unfortunately, this is not the way most back pain creams on the market work, and as a result many such products at your drug store will only temporarily cover up your pain until the application wears off.

Take Icy Hot cream or BenGay, for instance. These contain methyl salicylate and large amounts of menthol, which essentially act as “counterirritants.”

While the menthol cools your skin, the methyl salicylate warms it, causing a cooling-warming sensation on your skin that basically only distracts you from the deeper pain beneath.

Menthol in and of itself is a useful ingredient, as it increases blood flow and circulation to the area it’s applied to, which helps eliminate waste in your blood and speed healing.

HOWEVER, most back pain creams contain far too much menthol, so much so that it can cause a burning sensation on your skin, fingers and eyes (not to mention make your fingers smelly).

Methyl salicylate, on the other hand, can be incredibly dangerous and even deadly in certain circumstances.

Products That Contain Methyl Salicylate Can be Deadly

Methyl salicylate is a compound similar to aspirin that’s added to many deep-heating creams used to relieve sore muscles and back pain.

Also known as oil of wintergreen, the chemical can be deadly if consumed orally, especially by small children, but can also be toxic when applied topically to your skin.

In 2007, a 17-year-old athlete died after using a popular pain-relieving cream, and high levels of methyl salicylate were found in her body.

The ingredient is particularly dangerous when applied in excess or with chronic use, but it’s possible for your body to absorb a higher than normal amount of the chemical even when you use the product as directed.

For instance, exercise and heat can both increase the chemical’s rate of absorption (a particularly concerning association since these creams are often used by athletes).

When used in excess, methyl salicylate may lead to convulsions and can cause brain regions that control breathing to become overstimulated, leading to hyperventilation and nervous-system problems.

If you have any of these products around your home, be sure to keep them out of the reach of children.

Just one teaspoon of 98% methyl salicylate contains as much salicylate as nearly 90 baby aspirins — which is more than four times the toxic dose for a 22-pound child.

Incidentally, methyl salicylate was actually first registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1972 — as a pesticide.

Is this really an ingredient you feel good about rubbing into your skin?

Is There a Safer Back Pain Cream?

Given the potential side effects, you may find the risks of methyl salicylate-containing creams to be too high. Or, you may desire a pain-relief option that will do more than just mask your symptoms; you’re looking for real relief.

Such a back pain cream does exist, and it’s called Rub on Relief. This is a broad-spectrum homeopathic pain cream that was formulated to address many of the foundational reasons why you are in pain.

While giving you the simplicity and fast-acting relief you expect from a pain cream — as the name says, you simply rub it on for relief — Rub on Relief does so without methyl salicylate, and it contains no other questionable ingredients either, including NO parabens, petrolatum, paraffin, mineral oil, toluene, artificial colors, preservatives or NSAID drugs of any kind.

What is does contain is a synergistic blend of homeopathic ingredients, each carefully selected to address pain and inflammation from a slightly differently angle:

1.   Belladonna: A plant that impacts your body’s nervous system, belladonna is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease as well as for pain relief

2.   Ignatia: A plant that has been used by Chinese doctors for centuries to help calm the nerves and relieve pain due to emotional upset. There is often an emotional component to back pain, and it’s widely known that relieving psychological pain helps improve physical pain

3.   Rhus Tox: Useful for easing a variety of inflammatory symptoms, Rhus tox has been used for over 200 years for complaints back pain, arthritic pain and much more

4.   Phosphorus: Helps reduce the burning sensation in your muscles by regulating the nerves that send “pain” message to your brain

5.   Naja: Relieves inflammation and pain in nerve tissue

6.   Lachesis Mutus: Has a blood-thinning, or anticoagulant, function, which enhances blood flow and facilitates the healing process by hastening the removal of toxins from your blood

7.   Menthol: A balanced amount of menthol gives you relief without the burning other creams cause

8.   MSM: Delivers vital sulphur to your connective tissue to form healthy bonds in your cells and joints for faster healing and pain relief

Whereas with most back pain creams the mechanism of action is the cooling or heating sensation, Rub on Relief does not rely on cool or heat sensations for effectiveness.

Because of the small amount of menthol in the formula, you may feel a slight cooling sensation immediately after applying Rub on Relief, but the active ingredients keep working long after the cooling sensation disappears.

Plus, this homeopathic cream has no known side effects, even when used on many different body parts at the same time (not to mention, it has a 100% success rate to date).

If back pain has been holding you back from living your life fully, know that there are other safer and more effective options to the popular back pain creams at your drug store.

You deserve to be safely pain free — and you can achieve this reality using all-natural means.
