Bad breath, also called halitosis, is generally caused by a build-up of bacteria or debris inside the mouth. For some people, this odor-causing build-up occurs on the back portion of the tongue. However, it is not always clear why this tongue build-up occurs.

Possible causes of tongue-based bad breath may be due to postnasal mucus dripping from the nose to the throat, which forms a whitish coating. This coating often contains many different forms of bacteria which may thrive on the tongue's rough surface and cause unpleasant odors in the mouth.

The back portion of the tongue is especially susceptible to bacterial overgrowth, as this area is relatively dry. The lack of saliva combined with the tongue's natural grooves and fissures can trap food particles, dead cells, and mucus from the nasal cavities. As a result, this environment can quickly become a medium for bacterial growth.

According to Dr. Harold Katz, "nearly 90 percent of endogenous bad breath that is not caused by digestive upsets or metabolic diseases like diabetes is actually due to noxious bacterial build-up on your tongue."

Tongue bacteria demonstrate a distinctive, smelly odor because of volatile sulfuric compounds and polyamines. This coating can develop on the back of your tongue even if you otherwise practice good oral hygiene, especially in individuals with allergies or certain infections like thrush.

Although most people brush their teeth daily and floss, few are aware that it is just as essential to clean your tongue as it is to clean your teeth and gums.

To combat bad breath from your tongue, look at your tongue in the mirror to see it if has a coating or an unusual (white) color. If you notice anything suspicious, see your healthcare provider, as he or she can treat any illness involving chronic postnasal drip that may be causing a bacterial coating.

Also, make sure to visit your dentist for regular cleanings and exams and to maintain a good oral-hygiene routine of brushing your teeth and tongue, flossing, and rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash every day.

This article is based on the book,” Bad Breath Free Forever” by James Williams. This special report contains vital information that will enable you to take control of your life, banish bad breath, save your sex life, career and personal relationships.

7 Home Teeth Whitening Tips to Whiten Your Teeth Naturally

Here are the 7 home whitening tips to whiten your teeth naturally. They are harmless and risk-free and are easily managed by everyone: young and old.

Click HERE to Discover THE Safe, All-Natural & Cheap Way to Achieve Sparkling White Teeth from Home

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #1

Chewing Sugar Free Gums for Whiter Teeth

Brushing your teeth after meals is the best way to prevent the food that you eat from staining your teeth. But it's not always possible to brush right after eating a meal, drinking coffee or having some wine with friends.

If you eat out often and are concerned about your teeth getting stained by what you eat and drink there is an alternative to brushing. Chewing sugar free gum after eating or drinking has been proven to help prevent stains and keep your mouth healthy.

How Sugar Free Gum Helps Your Mouth

There are a couple of ways that sugar free gum can help prevent stained teeth.

The first is that when you chew gum the gum acts like an abrasive on the teeth, gently scrubbing away any stains as well as food particles and plaque that get stuck to your teeth. As the gum scrubs away the stains and the debris your teeth will look whiter and no new stains will be able to set on the surface of the teeth.

Chewing sugar free gum also stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth. That saliva will help rinse debris and plaque from your teeth. When your mouth has been rinsed by saliva your breath will be fresher and your teeth will be whiter.

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #2

Don't Stop Brushing

Just because chewing sugar free gum will make your teeth whiter doesn't mean that you can stop brushing though. You still need to brush your teeth with toothpaste at least twice a day. Use a toothpaste with fluoride and a soft toothbrush.

Don't brush too hard, or you can damage your gums. Brush for at least two minutes. Just simple brushing can be a huge help in getting rid of stains on your teeth from the food and drinks that you consume each day. Brushing your teeth is essential for making them healthy and white.

But if you are out with friends eating or you are working late and don't get the chance to brush right after your meal don't worry. Chewing sugar free gums will prevent stains and plaque and keep your teeth white. Just be sure that the gum is sugarless. Sugary gums can end up damaging your teeth and causing decay.

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #3

Don't Smoke

There are a lot of reasons why you shouldn't smoke, but one of them is that nicotine and tar from cigarettes can cause deep permanent stains on your teeth.

The teeth of people that smoke are often yellow or brown even immediately after they brush their teeth. It can be very difficult to get rid of those stains. Smoking also can weaken your teeth and give you cancer, so just don't do it. It's really not worth it.

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #4

Stop Drinking Soda

Any dark liquid like coffee, wine, or cola soda can stain your teeth. But soda also causes your teeth to break down because of the acid it contains.

As the enamel on the tooth wears down the stains will get worse and eventually your teeth will be not only dark and stained but weaker than they should be as well.

You should limit the amount of coffee and wine that you drink but stop drinking cola soda entirely if you want to save your teeth.

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #5

Eating Certain Fruits and Vegetables Keeps Teeth White and Healthy

Brushing your teeth and practicing good dental hygiene is important for keeping your teeth healthy and white. But, it's not the only way to keep your teeth white.

There are several different foods that you can eat that will help clean stains off your teeth and prevent foods from staining your teeth. There are fruits and vegetables that gently scrub your teeth as you eat them, which will remove food particles and stains from things like coffee, wine, juice or soda.

Additionally these food stimulate your mouth to produce more saliva. The saliva will help wash your teeth and keep new stains from forming. So fruits and vegetables aren't just good for you because they contain vitamins and minerals, they are good for you because they will also clean your teeth and make them strong.

Fruits That Will Clean Your Teeth

You have probably been told over the years to limit how much fruit you eat because the natural sugar in fruit can cause tooth decay and other problems. But the natural sugar in fruit doesn't damage your teeth the way that processed sugar does so you can have more fruit than you think.

Apples, strawberries and kiwi fruit are fruits that you can eat every day to clean your teeth and keep them healthy. Because these fruits are also high in Vitamin C they will keep your gums healthy too, which is an added bonus. An apple a day won't just keep the doctor away, it will keep the dentist away too.

Vegetables That Will Clean Your Teeth

Are you eating enough vegetables each day? Most people aren't. Adding vegetables like cauliflower, carrots and broccoli to your diet will make your teeth whiter and healthier. Pumpkins, sweet potatoes and cucumbers will also keep your teeth clean and your mouth healthy.

There are many delicious ways to make these vegetables part of your diet. Just adding cucumbers to a salad or replacing chips with carrots and eating them with dip as a snack is all you need to do to whiten your teeth every day. Start adding these fruits and vegetables to your diet and you will notice quickly how much better your teeth look.

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #6

Food-Grade Hydrogen Peroxide Is a Tooth Cleanser

One of the best home remedies for stained teeth you probably already have in your cupboard. Food-grade hydrogen peroxide is a great tool for eliminating stains on teeth and preventing new stains.

But, food-grade hydrogen peroxide can be rough on gums if you use it at full strength frequently. It's better to dilute it a little bit or use it only on your teeth.

How it Works

Food-grade hydrogen peroxide first attacks stains, plaque and food debris left on teeth and then gently lifts that debris off the tooth so it can be rinsed with saliva or water.

The natural action of the peroxide is a great tooth cleanser and it will naturally whiten your teeth. However you need to be sure that you are using food-grade hydrogen peroxide and not just the peroxide that you can buy in the drugstore.

Food-grade hydrogen peroxide is specially purified and has none of the contaminants that drugstore quality peroxide has. Food-grade peroxide is safe to be consumed if you accidently swallow some while you are using it to whiten your teeth.

How to Use It

There are several ways that you can use food-grade hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth and prevent stains. You can brush your teeth with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda which will clean and whiten teeth.

Or you can use a toothbrush or small brush to apply peroxide to each tooth individually. Another way you can get the benefits of peroxide for tooth whitening is to rinse your mouth with a small amount of peroxide after meals.

Mixing the peroxide with a little water is a good way to tone down the peroxide if it's too intense for you to use as a mouthwash. Over time peroxide may irritate the gums so watch for any redness or signs of irritation in your gums after using peroxide.

Home Teeth Whitening Tip #7

Making Use of Baking Soda to Clean Your Teeth

Baking soda is one of the best natural cleansers and it's safe to use on your teeth as well as for cleaning around the house. Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, a naturally occurring mineral. It has been used for thousands of years in cooking, as a cleaning agent, and for treating dental and mouth problems.

Baking soda is a great natural tooth cleaner and it can whiten your teeth and prevent stains. It is cheap and easy to find at any grocery store. Here are a few easy ways that you can use baking soda to prevent stained teeth:

Brush with Baking Soda

The simplest way to use baking soda to prevent tooth stains is to brush with it before you brush with your normal toothpaste.

Pour a little baking soda into a small container or just remove the top of the box. Dip your toothbrush in some water or hold it under the faucet until all the bristles are wet. Dip the toothbrush into the baking soda. The baking soda will stick to the wet bristles on the brush.

Brush your teeth for at least two minutes with the baking soda then rinse your mouth thoroughly. The baking soda will help eliminate stains and prevent new stains.

Add Baking Soda to Your Toothpaste

If you don't want the hassle of brushing with baking soda and then brushing with your favorite toothpaste you can just combine them. Dip your brush into the baking soda and then put some toothpaste on your brush.

Brush your teeth the way that you normally would with the toothpaste and baking soda mixture. Just be careful not to brush too hard if you do this, because the baking soda can be abrasive and cause irritated gums if you're not careful.

After a few days of brushing with baking soda you will notice that your mouth feels healthier and your teeth look whiter.

Good dental hygiene is important to keep your teeth and gums healthy, and practicing good dental hygiene will also keep your teeth white and free from ugly stains.

If you make it a habit to use good dental hygiene and you use a natural tooth whitener once and awhile you can avoid having to shell out huge amounts of money for expensive whitening treatments that might not even work.

Why Do People Want Shining White Teeth?

There are numerous reasons why people want to whiten their teeth. Presently society gives too much importance to physical appearance. The more attractive you are, the more you are likely to succeed in society.

Studies have shown that having a set of shining white teeth can improve your relationships and you appeal more to the other sex. You are more noticed when you are choosing the right mate. Many people look for bright teeth when they are dating a partner.

By having shining white teeth, you gain more self-esteem and confidence. When going to special occasions for example a wedding or a job interview you impress people and as a result they achieve a positive opinion of you.

Moreover, a white smile helps you to look younger than you really are. When you look at film stars, you notice that they all have white teeth because this makes them more popular with people.

In addition a bright smile contributes to a greater success at work. A nice smile conveys a message of intelligence and responsibility in a working environment. Clients will approach you more and prefer you over others.

A great smile is also a sign of oral hygiene. When you brush, floss and visit the dentist regularly, you achieve brighter teeth. This shows that you are a healthy person and that you take care of yourself. As a result you portray a friendly image of yourself thus attracting the attention of most people.

Reasons for Using Teeth Whitening Products

By whitening your teeth, you can eliminate stains caused by smoking, wine, coffee, cola, soda and other foods. Moreover a bright smile helps you to stop smoking. This is because, when you see your shining white teeth, you don't want to stain them with cigarettes.

It is a fact that with the aging process, teeth become yellow. The colour of your teeth gives clues about your age. If you invest in whitening your teeth, you look and feel more young and healthy.

As a result, you no longer have to hide those discoloured teeth and you can smile as much as you can. By having shining white teeth, when you smile, you feel happy and more prepared to face life's challenges.

Laser Whitening for a Shining Smile

Laser whitening is one of the newest teeth whitening treatments to get shining white teeth. It is performed by a dentist in a dental office and usually takes about 15-30 minutes.

During a laser whitening treatment the dentist will paint a mineralized whitening gel on your teeth and then use a laser to amplify the effects of the gel.

The results can be dramatic because the laser amplified whitening can whiten teeth up to 11 shades lighter. But there are some disadvantages to using laser whitening too that you should consider before having laser whitening done.

Reasons to Try Laser Teeth Whitening

There is no question that laser whitening is effective to get shining white teeth. It can make your teeth a lot whiter, and in a very short amount of time.

If you want fast tooth whitening that will leave you with a bright white smile chances are good that laser teeth whitening is one of the best options for you. But laser whitening doesn't work on everyone's teeth, and there are some disadvantages as well.

Problems with Laser Whitening

Laser whitening isn't the right choice for everyone. It won't work on everyone's teeth. Teeth that are deeply stained as a result of using antibiotics or other medications won't respond well to laser whitening. People who have deep staining on their teeth might notice their teeth lighten a little bit after a laser treatment but the laser won't remove the entire stain.

Laser whitening is also the most expensive type of whitening treatment. It can cost $1000 or more to have this procedure done. After the treatment the dentist will need to do a fluoride treatment on your teeth to counteract the effects of the laser.

And before and after the procedure there is some risk to your gums from the gel used to do the whitening. The gums can become irritated and inflamed as a result of contact with the gel. The laser amplifies that effect of the gel on the teeth but also amplifies the effect of the gel on the gums, which can cause long term gum problems.

Even though laser teeth whitening does work the side effects and risks combined with the cost make it an option that most people don't think is worth the result.

The good news is that to have shining white teeth, you don't have to spend a fortune. People of any age can invest in a shining smile without undergoing surgical procedures.

Today there are cheap and safe alternatives that you can do. There isn't even a need to pay huge amounts of money to a dentist for teeth whitening procedures.

Nowadays, you could whiten your teeth comfortably at home. There are several natural and simple remedies to get shining white teeth which you can easily make and achieve great results.

These over-the-counter remedies are harmless and risk-free and are easily managed by everyone: young and old. Moreover, bright teeth are not difficult to maintain. It doesn't require a lot of effort and hassle to gain a shining smile.

Why Natural Teeth Whitening is the Best Way to Whiten Teeth?

Danger of Using Non-Natural Techniques to Whiten Teeth: Chemical Burns

Whether you use a DIY kit or have teeth whitening done at the dentist if you use a product or have a treatment done that doesn't use natural elements to whiten teeth you could get hurt.

Many products that aren't naturally based use harsh chemicals that can destroy the surface of your teeth, ruin the enamel of the tooth, or even cause nasty chemical burns on the gums. Chemical burns on the gums can take weeks to heal and they are very painful.

DIY Kits

The teeth whitening kits that you can buy in stores to whiten teeth are notorious for causing chemical burns and the loss of tooth enamel. Because these kits are made to be one size fits all they often don't fit right.

When the tray or the strip doesn't fit your teeth exactly right there is a bigger risk that you will get some of the toxic tooth whitening solution on your gums which will cause burns.

And the more you use these DIY kits to whiten teeth the more damage will be done. Over time these kits strip the enamel from the teeth which can weaken the tooth and cause discoloration or even tooth loss.

Professional Whitening Treatments

Professional whitening treatments to whiten teeth aren't much safer than DIY kits. If the dentist performing the treatment hasn't had enough training using a laser during light-accelerated whitening the laser could damage your teeth.

If the gel or other whitening agents aren't put on carefully or; if the safety shield for your gums slips or; isn't applied correctly you could end up with serious chemical burns on your gums.

Everyone makes mistakes, so even experienced dentists can cause injuries when performing teeth whitening procedures. It's safer to choose a natural tooth whitener that won't cause chemical burns, tooth loss or other problems when you want to whiten your teeth.

Non-natural Teeth Bleaching Methods to Whiten Teeth Cause Gum Irritation

Gum irritation is a by-product of teeth whitening that is done incorrectly. This can happen when you use an at home bleaching kit or even when you visit a dentist for a cosmetic bleaching if the dentist isn't paying close enough attention.

Gum irritation is quite common after teeth bleaching but most of the time the damage isn't permanent. It is painful and ugly however, and it can take anywhere from a week to a month to heal depending on the severity of the irritation.

Why it Happens?

Gum irritation, burns, and blisters are all due to the bleaching gel used to whiten teeth coming in contact with the gums. When you use a DIY teeth bleaching kit the trays that the kit comes with are not made specifically for your mouth.

Because they are not custom made they won't fit tightly enough to prevent the whitening gel from coming in contact with your gums. When you leave the gel on for a long period of time to whiten your teeth that gel will cause irritation and burning your gums at the same time.

When a dentist does a bleaching procedure to whiten teeth they usually take the time to fit the bleaching tray to your mouth to prevent gum irritation.

But sometimes the tray still isn't tight enough, or the dentist gets some of the gel on the gums as well as on the teeth before a laser bleaching. The gel can turn the gums white and can cause blisters and burns that can make talking, eating or drinking very painful.

What to do About It

If you want to avoid the possibility of bleaching your teeth causing gum irritation don't use at home bleaching kits that use chemical bleaching gels.

Applying Vitamin E to irritated or burned gums will help them heal faster. And when you want to whiten your teeth choose a natural teeth whitening product that won't hurt your gums and will still give you bright white teeth.

Over Bleaching Harms Your Teeth and Gums

Many people who find themselves bleaching their teeth often with DIY kits or getting bleaching treatments from the dentist don't realize the damage that they are doing to their teeth. In some cases the damage is permanent.

A lot of people who bleach their teeth using home kits made from gel trays and whitening strips don't realize that those products aren't meant to be used multiple times in a short time frame.

Just because bleaching kits are sold over the counter in drugstore that doesn't mean they are safe to use on a regular basis to whiten teeth. They can cause very serious damage to your teeth.

Whiter Teeth BUT Damaged Teeth

Using teeth whitening kits over and over to whiten teeth will slowly strip the enamel off of your teeth. Once the enamel is gone the teeth will become stained very often because there will be no protective enamel left to cover the tooth.

As the enamel wears away the caustic chemicals in the kit can even damage the pulp of the tooth. Damaged pulp will cause pain and it can weaken the tooth and eventually cause tooth loss. A better way to whiten your teeth is to use natural cleansers that won't wear away the enamel of your teeth.

Gum Damage

Over bleaching your teeth can also cause serious gum damage. When the gums are exposed to the whitening gels in either at home bleaching kits or dentist given whitening treatments they can become irritated or red and raw.

If the bleaching gels sit on gums for just a few minutes they can be burned by the whitening gel. Burned gums can blister and become very painful, making it hard to eat and drink.

Your mouth will look terrible and hurt badly. Your gums could even become infected. Over bleaching is a problem that happens to many people who aren't careful about what products they use to whiten their teeth.

Bleachorexia: A Serious Disorder Which Destroys Your Teeth

Bleachorexia may sound harmless, but it's a very serious disorder. People who feel like their teeth are never white enough and bleach their teeth over and over are said to have bleachorexia.

A dentist coined the term a few years ago when he started noticing patients coming in over and over for bleaching treatments whose teeth were in really bad shape as a result of the over bleaching.

When a person has bleachorexia they usually use home bleaching kits several times a week and see the dentist for more in-depth bleaching on a regular basis. But the overexposure to harsh bleaching gels and additives in home bleaching kits can destroy teeth.

The Damages Caused by Excessive Teeth Bleaching

Someone who suffers from bleachorexia thinks that their teeth are never white enough, so they keep bleaching. But as they keep bleaching the enamel of the tooth is worn away. That leaves the inner part of the tooth exposed. The inner part of the tooth is naturally a yellowish color.

When the person sees their teeth as being yellow they bleach again, which just makes the problem worse. Eventually the teeth become so weak and broken down that they crumble or fall part. Then the person has to endure root canals, crowns, and even implants just to fix the damage.

Bleachorexia on the Rise

According to dentists that specialize in cosmetic dentistry bleachorexia is on the rise. There is so much pressure on people to look great all the time these days that people are going to extremes bleaching their teeth constantly. In the era when selfies are popular and posting photos of yourself is expected everyone wants to look camera ready all the time.

Having a white smile is expected, so people do whatever they can to make their smile look great. Unfortunately all that bleaching can destroy natural teeth. Using a natural tooth whitening product and using it responsibly is the best way to whiten teeth without causing massive damage to your teeth.

Excessive Use of Whitening Gels Results in Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity is a problem for a lot of people, but for people who use teeth bleaching kits and other harsh tooth whitening products tooth sensitivity can become a huge problem. Tooth sensitivity that is caused by over bleaching teeth cannot be reversed, because the sensitivity is caused by a loss of tooth enamel.

Excessive teeth bleaching with strong whitening gels will wear down the enamel on teeth and leave the pulp of the tooth exposed. When the pulp is exposed the tooth will become extremely sensitive and painful. There is no way to replace tooth enamel once it's been lost.

How Teeth Bleaching Causes Sensitivity

There are two different application methods for teeth whitening gels. One method uses a tray that is filled with whitening gel and put over your teeth. The tray stays on for a certain amount of time and the gel is supposed to remove stains and debris on the teeth to make them whiter.

The second method is when a dentist applies a peroxide based gel to your teeth for a cosmetic bleaching. The gel sits on your teeth for about 20 minutes and then the dentist uses a laser to amplify the effect of the gel.

No matter what application method is used that gel is doing more than scrubbing stains off your teeth. It is eating through the enamel of the tooth. As the enamel breaks down and is washed away your teeth will become sensitive because the inner pulp of the tooth is being exposed. The more you bleach, the more pulp is exposed.

Living with Tooth Sensitivity

Even though sensitivity won't cause any tooth loss it can still make life difficult and painful. Eating and drinking can be painful. Even the weather or allergies can trigger pain in your teeth if the enamel on the teeth has been worn away.

You may have to give up some of your favorite foods and drinks if the sensitivity is severe. Living with tooth sensitivity won't get any easier because the enamel cannot be replaced. Sensitivity is a permanent condition.

Bluish Enamel Is an Adverse Effect of Teeth Bleaching

There are a lot of things that can go wrong with your teeth when at home teeth bleaching kits are used. Sometimes cosmetic dental whitening can cause problems too, but the most severe damage to teeth is usually done by at home whitening kits.

That's because people don't always use those kits correctly and because they don't realize how damaging the whitening gel can be to their teeth and gums.

Some of the problems that can occur when home teeth bleaching kits are used too often include sensitivity, gum irritation, and bluish enamel around the edges of teeth. Seeing bluish colored enamel on teeth is a sign of a very serious problem.

What Bluish Enamel Means

It's common for teeth and gums that come into contact with whitening gel to appear white. But if you notice that the enamel on your teeth has a bluish tint that means that the dentin of your teeth is exposed.

Dentin is the bony tissue that lies under the enamel on a tooth. If you are seeing bluish colored tissue on your tooth that means that bleaching has destroyed the enamel on that tooth.

Once that enamel has been destroyed there is no way to replace it. Enamel is there to protect the dentin and the pulp of your tooth so if the enamel is gone it means that your tooth is at risk of damage, infection, and you may eventually lose that tooth.

How Teeth Bleaching Causes Bluish Enamel

Bleaching the teeth with at home kits makes it easy for people to make mistakes. Leaving the gel on too long or using the whitening kit too often will wear away the enamel on the tooth.

Even if you think you are following all the directions correctly there is a good chance that the tray that is supposed to fit over the teeth won't fit correctly because it's not custom made for your mouth.

Utilizing Whitening Strips to Whiten Your Teeth

Nowadays there are several solutions for a bright, white smile which vary greatly from those of ancient times. One such method is whitening strips. The latter are made up of polyethylene. This is a flexible material consisting of hydrogen peroxide.

Humidity is caused when you apply these strips to your teeth and a chemical reaction takes place. A mild acid is formed which removes some teeth stains. Before using whitening strips you should visit your dentist. The latter can identify the causes of discoloured or stained teeth.

When this is done, you could decide which teeth whitening method is best for you. Brown or grey teeth stains are difficult to remove by whitening strips whereas yellow stains are eliminated more easily by using whitening strips.

When using whitening strips you should take note of the manufacturer's instructions. When you know how to use these strips they yield positive results.

However, you should not use these strips always because they can harm the teeth enamel as well as the tissue under the gum. Moreover, prolonged application of whitening strips causes your teeth to become transparent thus appearing darker. Also, you should avoid exposing the gums to these strips as this can cause irritation.

A natural whitening solution is therefore a better choice because it will not destroy your enamel but will give you a brighter and whiter smile.

Applying Bleaching Gel to Brighten Teeth

One of the teeth whitening methods that many people try at home is using a bleaching gel. Bleaching gel is pretty inexpensive and easy to find.

Bleaching gels are made from a peroxide solution that can be applied in several different ways. The gel can be applied in a bleaching tray that fits over the teeth, or with a small brush or a toothbrush. It also can be put into a bleaching pen and applied with the pen.

Advantages of Using Bleaching Gel

One of the advantages of using bleaching gel to brighten teeth is the ease of use. Because you can use the gel in a tray, in a pen, or painted directly onto the teeth with a brush it makes it easy for people to apply the gel in whatever method works for them.

Bleaching gel works in as little as 10 minutes, which makes it perfect for people who want to brighten their teeth before going out or going to work. Bleaching gel also is not as messy as some other types of tooth whitening products because it is a thick gel. But despite the advantages using bleaching gel is not always the best choice for tooth whitening.

Disadvantages of Using Bleaching Gel

Bleaching gel, like many other peroxide based tooth whiteners, doesn't dramatically whiten teeth. If your teeth have some minor staining or are just looking dull then a bleaching gel will make your teeth look whiter. But if your teeth are discolored or seriously stained the peroxide gel won't have enough power to dramatically whiten your teeth.

Another disadvantage is that the gel has to stay on your teeth in order to work which means you can't eat, drink, or do anything that might loosen the gel from the teeth the entire time that you're wearing the gel. Using the gel everyday can weaken the enamel on your teeth and over time it can cause sensitivity or make any existing sensitivity worse.

Using Bleaching Pen for Teeth Whitening

One option when it comes to whitening teeth at home is a bleaching pen. A bleaching pen is similar in design to a laundry stain treating pen. It's a hollow container filled with a whitening gel that is peroxide based.

You can use the tip of the pen to apply the whitening mixture to your teeth. There are some advantages and disadvantages to using a bleaching pen to whiten your teeth.

Advantages of Using a Bleaching Pen to Whiten Teeth

The biggest advantage of using a bleaching pen is that you get excellent control of where you place the whitening gel. If you only want to whiten a couple of teeth you can easily do that with the pen. Or, if you have teeth that have deep stains and need more coverage than strips or other types of whiteners have the bleaching pen is a good choice.

Bleaching pens are also usually fairly inexpensive, which is good for people who want to whiten their teeth without shelling out for expensive trays and strips. A bleaching pen is easy to apply anywhere and you can put the pen into a pocket or purse and take it with you for quick whitening.

Disadvantages of Using a Bleaching Pen to Whiten Teeth

There are some significant disadvantages that come with using a bleaching pen as well. Applying the whitening gel on some teeth can be difficult because of the shape of the applicator, leaving your teeth unevenly white.

The whitening gel in the pen also usually takes at least 30 minutes to work. During that time you can't eat, drink, or even talk very much. If you do the gel will become loose and won't whiten your teeth. So unless you have at least half an hour to sit and do nothing a bleaching pen won't be as effective as other types of whitening products.

Also, the peroxide -based whitening gel used in bleaching pens isn't very effective when it comes to whitening teeth. Studies have shown that the gel only whitens teeth a little bit, about as much as a whitening toothpaste.

Using Light-accelerated Bleaching Treatment for Teeth Whitening

Light-accelerated bleaching is newer type of treatment for tooth whitening. It has to be done by a dentist who has been trained in how to use a laser for cosmetic dentistry.

During a light-accelerated bleaching treatment the dentist will first spread a peroxide based gel on your teeth. The gel will sit on your teeth for around 15 or 20 minutes.

Then the dentist will use a laser to accelerate the whitening process by activating minerals within the gel that is on your teeth. The results can be very dramatic, because the use of the laser can whiten teeth up to 11 shades.

People like this procedure because it's relatively quick, it only has to be done once, and there are very noticeable results. But there are some concerns about light-accelerated tooth whitening that mean you should think carefully about it before you make an appointment.

Concerns about Light-Accelerated Bleaching

The cost of this procedure is high, and many people don't have the disposable income to pay $1000 or more for a tooth whitening treatment. Because this is a cosmetic dentistry treatment most insurance will not cover it. There are also some safety concerns about the procedure.

Anytime a laser is used on the body there can be damage done, in this case there is a risk of damage to the gums. The peroxide gel used on the teeth can cause damage, inflammation and irritation to the gums all by itself.

So when the gel is amplified by the laser the gums can become raw and painful for up to a week after the procedure. There is also a risk to the teeth themselves.

Dentists follow up the light-accelerated whitening with a fluoride treatment to try and strengthen any teeth that were weakened by the laser. Multiple treatments could cause tooth loss or breakage later on.

Light-accelerated bleaching may be a good fit for some people, but there are some definite risks as well as the high cost of the treatment that you need to consider before you decide that this treatment is something that you want to pursue.

Why Regular Medication with Antibiotics Does Not Permanently Cure Angular Cheilitis

Angular Cheilitis is mainly a skin disease provoked by the excessive moisture present in the crests, folds or wrinkles around the lips, especially from the corners of the mouth. This moisture digs into the skin causing cracks and lesions which later on become infected and form pus. Read on here to find out how you can permanently cure angular cheilitis.

Angular Cheilitis is mainly a skin disease provoked by the excessive moisture present in the crests, folds or wrinkles around the lips, especially from the corners of the mouth. This moisture digs into the skin causing cracks and lesions which later on become infected and form pus.

From here on is just a vicious circle, in which the infection expands causing skin to crack even more, while these cracks provide more space for the infection to grow and develop faster.

When having to deal with such a condition most people rush into the dermatologist's offices hoping to permanently cure angular cheilitis. What they receive instead is a lotion or a cream based on antibiotic substances.

This treatment should kill the bacteria and thus, leave the skin clean so as to start recovering from the damage. It is a slow process which in most cases, even if it does function bring too little relief for the desperate people.

This is mainly because the bacteria are quite smart organisms, smarter than you may have thought. Thus, when an antibiotic is used in order to destroy them, some of them die while other become much stronger and can no longer be defeated by the same antibiotic or by a substance similar to it.

This is why, even though you find a powerful antibiotic which will provide relief the first time when Angular Cheilitis appears. This will not permanently cure Angular Cheilitis because the same treatment will be useless when the disease makes its appearance its second time.

As you well know, in most cases this condition does appear a second time, so basically with antibiotics you can only have half of the problem solved or in other worlds postpone the search for an effective treatment a little longer.

Thus, if your dermatologist has prescribed you any antibiotics you can take them and hope for the best. If it is your first time taking them, they may actually work, but if you are at a second attempt, it is advisable to look for something more powerful or try some of the alternative or complementary treatments that can permanently cure Angular Cheilitis.

You will be amazed to see how many effective treatments you can find outside the dermatologist's office!

Why It Is Important to Address Angular Cheilitis from the First Signs

How to Cure Angular Cheilitis Naturally & Permanently in 12 Hours or Less

Chapped lips, cracks in the area around the mouth and pain when you open your mouth, these are the first signs that an Angular Cheilitis is about to invade the corners of your lips and will start to trouble your life.

With time, these symptoms become more and more acute. Thus, the cracks grow deeper and deeper and transform into painful sores, while the pain you feel when opening your mouth grows significantly as time goes by.

In addition to that, the cracks soon begin to bleed and the infection with different bacteria or fungi is just a matter of time. In most of the cases, candida albicans is the bacterium which affects Angular Cheilitis sufferers.

All this process happens quite fast and in about a week you can go from a perfect healthy person to an Angular Cheilitis sufferer, who cannot eat, drink, laugh or speak properly any more, a person who is embarrassed to get out of the house because of the way the skin from around their lips looks like. This is why, it is highly essential that you start an appropriate treatment from the very first signs of cheilosis.

Using at least a lip balm that does not contain any perfume or colorants each and every time /you feel that the area is too dry, preventing your saliva or sweat from reaching in the affected areas and maintain a perfect hygiene are some of the steps, which if done from the apparition of this skin condition may stop its evolution, make it less violent and decrease the amount of time it will take to heal.

In addition to that, taking vitamin supplements, having a balanced diet and avoid humid places, cold places or places where there is dust will significantly contribute to the minimization of Angular Cheilitis' effects and will make it more bearable for the person who has to deal with it.

A visit to the doctor is also recommended, so that you will be given some ointments or creams which can treat this condition and at the same time see which the vitamins your body lack are, so that you can address this issue fast too.

When dealing with Angular Cheilitis, the more time you waste postponing the time when you start your treatment, the more time you will have to cope with this condition. Thus, if you do not want the cracks to aggravate and start bleeding, move fast and start a treatment right from the first symptoms.
